  • One of the best ways to see volcanoes in Hawaii is at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The park surrounds two super volcanoes, including Mauna Loa, the biggest volcano in the world. One of the things you should do is hike to flowing lava. National Park Service shares that you can hike and bicycle along the gravel emergency access route at the end of Chain of Craters Road to view and access lava as it flows down the Pūlama Pali and spreads out onto the coastal lava plain in the national park, and towards the ocean.

    1. Allows for very clear view of stars
    2. Mauna Kea is the tallest mountain in Hawaii
    3. Mauna Kea has 13 of the largest and more effective telescopes
    4. Mauna Kea still has small earthquakes but it is unlikely to be volcanic activity
    5. Mauna Kea is labeled as a active volcano while it has not erupted in a long time.
