@Transpicyy I’m not an authority on this, but private property is essentially when individuals own the means of production (the things, land, and spaces used to make things) as opposed to collective ownership. Someone with more knowledge please correct me. Personal property is things like your phone, your house, or your teddy bear. They are things that matter to you, but aren’t involved in making the things everybody needs. Googling the difference between the two will yield you more in depth information from more credible sources if you want to know more
Yeah I’m learning Spanish as a native English speaker and Duolingo made an article about gender neutral language in Spanish “elle” and “e” instead of “o” and “ a”. I remember learning french I had a non binary person as my partner for most the activities and I had so much trouble understanding that there was no gender neutral form of they/them. They ended up telling me to use the masculine form because it sort of doubles as the gender neutral one

Can’t believe I need to say this, but there is a difference between staying off social media because you don’t want to have to deal with uncomfortable feelings, and taking a step back because you’ve had active experiences with battlegrounds. If you’re experiencing flashbacks, panic attacks, nightmares, or anything of the sort, take a step back. DONT step away, people need you to engage in posts and share information, but it’s okay to take a step back. I’ve personally had to send videos to friends and have them summarize what happened because a lot of media surrounding Israel sets off ptsd flashbacks. This is especially relevant when talking about how many people are struggling to pay bills and feed themselves. So many of us are JUST barely getting by, it doesn’t make you a terrible person for not being able to put 100% of your energy into Palestine. Should you be doing the most you can do right now? Absolutely. But for a lot of us, the most we can do is share a post, comment to boost, and talk with the people we know.
Discusson time! Something I feel like that isnt talked about often enough is being trans and being scared that you'll be ugly once you transition. For me personally, its not really a body dysmorphia thing, but I've been "ugly" basically my whole life, and people treat you as if you're sub-human. I dont want to spend years, hell maybe even a decade or more just to be true to myself, only to not be considered pretty enough to deserve to be seen as a person. While this won't stop me from transitioning, it definitely doesnt help the anxiety that comes with it.

All four are formed due to trauma during childhood, it can cause changes in how someone acts but none are inherently evil like media suggests.

I've had Recruiters come into classes and speak, seen weekly tabling events, direct contact through my school email, LinkedIn, multiple job search sites, career events, advocation by professors, advisors, department heads, and anyone you could think of. Posters, flyers, business cards, DIRECT TEXTS TO MY PERSONAL NUMBER! It's honestly exhausting, and is one of the reasons I'm glad to be almost done with school.

Furthermore about the TikTok about Fox news, they lure you in. I've said before that at my house we watch Fox news. Not because I have a terrible father who is right leaning, but because we do not have local weather coverage. Fox news is our best option. You'll start off with weather. Then they'll get into news stories arounf your area, then some not in your area. Then they'll gradually get into their political stuff. If you are interested in hearing a wild story they teased for later, you may need to sit through some bizarre stuff. Truly it sneaks up on you. Sometimes my dad falls asleep waiting for a story he wants to here and I won't notice that Fox transitioned over to their Tucker Carlson stuff until I'm hearing the most horrendous things about trans people. They really pull every stradegy they can to convert someone into a bigot.

As a SA survivor, I both agree and disagree, like, it shouldnt be normalised, obviously, and I can empathize with not wanting to see/read/hear it. However I don't think it shouldnt be excluded from media either. When it is portrayed in media it should be portrayed respectfully(respectful of the victim); for the heinous act that it is, whether that be through a disclaimer on the media, via onscreen/onpage justice(vigilante or judicially whether or not we're worrying about things like historical accuracy) for the crime commited; accurate depiction of the psychological damage such an event can have on the victim(both immediate and lasting depending on length of media); or all of the above. To make it a culturally(media is becoming a larger part of culture every day) taboo topic would be a mistake, and overall set us back more than bring us forward, since(unfortunate as it is) it is a thing that happens- and not just to women. People shouldn't be bothered by talking about it/including it in media. Making a subject like SA culturally taboo only reinforces the oppressive idea that victims should keep quiet. Btw as a (trans)guy that idea pisses me off even more bc for us its morphed into shit like 'why are you complaining- shes bad af wish I could land her' 'she may have been mid but dont bitch about it, i cant get any over here' and "guys can't be raped". The thing about people thinking its okay to touch you if theres no chance of a relationship is an experience I can corroborate. Its wild to me that for Ive had so many people tell me my hugs are very awkward and not think that maybe its because they just threw themselves at me without any warning. That problem is likely a double thing for me as most of the people just refused to believe I was bi and not gay but even still its annoying to remember. Another thing that maybe its just a pet peeve of mine is romantic partners going in for first hugs or kisses without warning.

However, you are correct, the Penobscot are a tribe in the area of the Penobscot bay in Maine, nearby the city of Bangor and Acadia National Park. It is considered part of the Wabanaki Confederacy, which includes the Abenaki (modern-day Vermont/New Hampshire), Penobscot, Passamaquoddy (located just to the north of Penobscot territory), Maliseet (northernmost Maine and Quebec), and the Micmac (or Mikmak, Mi'qmaq, and other variations, I haven't been able to find easy clarification on the spelling, largely because a number of these woodlands languages, as they are called, don't have a set romanized script in place as they're almost completely extinct, with the exception of Micmac).

However I am Australian. My friend who is Portuguese Italian was practising conjugation and just for the hell of it decided to make a completely different ending. hi y’all! i have more book recs :)))) book rec for today is the scapegracers! it’s written by a non-binary fem author (whom i love) and it’s about a teenage lesbian witch finding a coven of her own. the story is very well written, and demonstrates deep platonic connections very well. the writing feels almost visceral, and i could not put it down. 10/10, would read forever if i could. as always, if you would like a book rec, type the genre you’re looking for in the replies and i will give you a book :)))

@@yourlocalanarchylovingcatguy so i have a great book for that :) it’s called the dead and the dark. it’s a great book about the daughter of a ghost hunting team moving to a small middle of nowhere town and falling in love with the resident nice small town girl. the town is covering up a dark secret and so is the ghost hunting team. no more spoilers than that :) i loved the book, it’s very suspenseful, and it had me stumped on who the main villain could be. fantastic book.
@@Maya-zx1dp i have two depending on how dark you like your fiction iron widow doesn’t outright say it’s polyamorous, but it most definitely is, no if ands or buts about it. very dark though, and an actually morally grey main character. very good book though. two is the gilded wolves. it involves less queer romance, and it’s not a central part of the book so i don’t know if that’s what you’re going for, but either way it’s still a good book. it’s set in the late 1800s, has BIPOC characters whilst also talking about how white colonialism erased said characters culture and their roots. it’s sort of a steampunk magic related mystery. also a good book

In Frankenstein Must be Destroyed there’s a r@pe scene that was literally shoehorned in at the last minute. The actors and director all hated it but the producer made them do it because he thought it would make it sell better in America (Hammer are English)because there was “not enough sex in it”. This doesn’t make sense for Dr. Frankenstein’s character at all. it was supposed to be longer but Terence Fisher was so sick of it that he walked out of the set of his own movie. Peter Cushing, being the gentleman he is, took Vanessa Carlson out to dinner and discussed how they were going to do it because neither of them wanted to. He was so horrified by this whole thing that after it was over he asked if he’d hurt her and apologized for literally an hour. Vanessa refused to be stripped like the script said so they had Peter’s body shield her.

He has a nephew named Hotshot, who's a college drop out and frequents the casino. (Is that his name, a nickname, or what he named himself? Who knows! Hotshot has a lip piercing, dark sunglasses, and a mullet with micro bangs )
What if he has not yet fallen? He's just an angel. And then as time goes on and he does more killing, thinking he's going by the ineffable plan, he slowly starts to descend. He's gaining too much pleasure in the sins he's commiting. He never even notices he has fallen until he's no longer welcome in heaven and has to face who he is. But there is no disgust. There is no self loathing. He loves what he has done. He truly is fallen. It was such a gradual descent that he doesn't have the innate horror that he is no longer protected under God. He just is what he is. A killer. He'll go back to his job at the casino and continue with his killings. He truly has the taste for blood now. It's a part of who he is. Those were the first mutants, and they started thriving in the wild, eventually stifling normal life from staying there, then going on a rampage in nearby towns. The Mutant Panic, as it’s called, isn’t worldwide, but it’s still a problem.
I've been thinking about anxiety lately, specifically my own experiences. As I'm growing older I've noticed my coping skills have gotten better, but when I do get anxiety it's more tiring. Maybe it's because life in general just gets more stressful as you grow older? Idk Another thing I've noticed is that I've gotten more awkward lately. It's hard to describe what I mean by that, but I've been noticing the people around me more, making me more aware. I've been stumbling on my words, had more long silences than before, and I've been rambling more. And the thing is even though I know that these aren't bad things, my anxiety just gets in my head and the next thing you know I'm tearing up because I dared complement someone by passing them an anonymous note (which took 15 minutes to work up the courage to even discretely pass to them!) this is just something i've heard so take it with a grain of salt, but apparently symptoms appearing to get harder/more tiring to deal with as you heal is a pretty usual experience since you feel that way less often, so when it does happen it stands out more. it's not that you're more anxious, it's that you're *less* anxious overall and not used to the feeling - which is a good thing! as for the becoming more awkward, that's the same thing i've been noticing about myself... i have a few guesses as to what it might be for me, so maybe your reason is among those too? for me it's probably a combination of 1) i was awkward before, but so dissociated i didn't even notice it that much because i wasn't aware of my behaviour. now that i'm less dissociated, i'm noticing these things about myself 2) i'm less dissociated, so i'm more aware of the situations i'm in, giving me more things to be anxious/awkward about 3) i repressed my emotions really hard up until recently, the anxiety was still there but hidden, so it finally coming out in the form of stumbling on words/awkwardness etc. is actually a step in the right direction! again idk if any of these are what's happening to you but i've had similar experiences so i thought i'd give my two cents :)
as an SA victim, i would like to weigh in on the last one. I think depictions of SA when done respectfully and correctly, for a plot-related reason that makes sense can work and can be done very well. However, it is very easy to do it incorrectly and horribly. I think completely stopping depictions of SA in media would not have the intended effect. I think it might actually end up making victims feel more alone, as it makes the subject feel "taboo" and "dirty" which does not encourage victims to heal or feel safe enough to come forward, or even talk about it, which I know from personal experience. I understand where this person was coming from, and I agree partially, but I just wanted to say my two cents on it.

@Transpicyy I’m not an authority on this, but private property is essentially when individuals own the means of production (the things, land, and spaces used to make things) as opposed to collective ownership. Someone with more knowledge please correct me. Personal property is things like your phone, your house, or your teddy bear. They are things that matter to you, but aren’t involved in making the things everybody needs. Googling the difference between the two will yield you more in depth information from more credible sources if you want to know more

I remember learning french I had a non binary person as my partner for most the activities and I had so much trouble understanding that there was no gender neutral form of they/them. They ended up telling me to use the masculine form because it sort of doubles as the gender neutral one

I’ve personally had to send videos to friends and have them summarize what happened because a lot of media surrounding Israel sets off ptsd flashbacks.
This is especially relevant when talking about how many people are struggling to pay bills and feed themselves. So many of us are JUST barely getting by, it doesn’t make you a terrible person for not being able to put 100% of your energy into Palestine.
Should you be doing the most you can do right now? Absolutely. But for a lot of us, the most we can do is share a post, comment to boost, and talk with the people we know.

Something I feel like that isnt talked about often enough is being trans and being scared that you'll be ugly once you transition.
For me personally, its not really a body dysmorphia thing, but I've been "ugly" basically my whole life, and people treat you as if you're sub-human. I dont want to spend years, hell maybe even a decade or more just to be true to myself, only to not be considered pretty enough to deserve to be seen as a person.
While this won't stop me from transitioning, it definitely doesnt help the anxiety that comes with it.

It is never wrong to feel love. I know it hurts now, and you are valid in feeling this pain, but you are not stupid for having feelings and you will absolutely find someone who will accept your love and match it in kind, until this pain is nothing more than a shade of a memory. As someone on an Engineering track, I've been targeted with more military recruitment during my last 8-10 years of school than I've ever seen. I've had Recruiters come into classes and speak, seen weekly tabling events, direct contact through my school email, LinkedIn, multiple job search sites, career events, advocation by professors, advisors, department heads, and anyone you could think of. Posters, flyers, business cards, DIRECT TEXTS TO MY PERSONAL NUMBER! It's honestly exhausting, and is one of the reasons I'm glad to be almost done with school.

Furthermore about the TikTok about Fox news, they lure you in. I've said before that at my house we watch Fox news. Not because I have a terrible father who is right leaning, but because we do not have local weather coverage. Fox news is our best option.
You'll start off with weather. Then they'll get into news stories arounf your area, then some not in your area. Then they'll gradually get into their political stuff. If you are interested in hearing a wild story they teased for later, you may need to sit through some bizarre stuff. Truly it sneaks up on you. Sometimes my dad falls asleep waiting for a story he wants to here and I won't notice that Fox transitioned over to their Tucker Carlson stuff until I'm hearing the most horrendous things about trans people. They really pull every stradegy they can to convert someone into a bigot.
Mrcloud being back makes my day a little bit better. Considering they just continue to boost and give the creator more views and comments. I also like how they (and other mean people) like to call us snowflakes or too sensitive when they’re the ones getting butt hurt over the fact we actually care about kids’ mental health and we actually listen to what kids say and stuff. As a SA survivor, I both agree and disagree, like, it shouldnt be normalised, obviously, and I can empathize with not wanting to see/read/hear it. However I don't think it shouldnt be excluded from media either. When it is portrayed in media it should be portrayed respectfully(respectful of the victim); for the heinous act that it is, whether that be through a disclaimer on the media, via onscreen/onpage justice(vigilante or judicially whether or not we're worrying about things like historical accuracy) for the crime commited; accurate depiction of the psychological damage such an event can have on the victim(both immediate and lasting depending on length of media); or all of the above.
To make it a culturally(media is becoming a larger part of culture every day) taboo topic would be a mistake, and overall set us back more than bring us forward, since(unfortunate as it is) it is a thing that happens- and not just to women. People shouldn't be bothered by talking about it/including it in media. Making a subject like SA culturally taboo only reinforces the oppressive idea that victims should keep quiet. Btw as a (trans)guy that idea pisses me off even more bc for us its morphed into shit like 'why are you complaining- shes bad af wish I could land her' 'she may have been mid but dont bitch about it, i cant get any over here' and "guys can't be raped". And the fact that if youre gay and hot(not a personal experience lol) girls thinking its okay to put their hands all over you bc 'you're not into me so its not like that, this is just for me'. The thing about people thinking its okay to touch you if theres no chance of a relationship is an experience I can corroborate. Its wild to me that for Ive had so many people tell me my hugs are very awkward and not think that maybe its because they just threw themselves at me without any warning. That problem is likely a double thing for me as most of the people just refused to believe I was bi and not gay but even still its annoying to remember. Another thing that maybe its just a pet peeve of mine is romantic partners going in for first hugs or kisses without warning.

I wanted to watch A Bugs Life with my family cause it’s a great allegory for revolution. was having a great time until I remembered that despite’s it’s great message, there’s still a lot of parts that show it’s age. the character Heimlich’s only comedic bit is being fat and he’s not characterized around much else. there’s a character named the g slur and Francis’ jokes are just that he’s a guy who looks like a woman. in general I still enjoyed the movie but it definitely dampened my experience.

However, you are correct, the Penobscot are a tribe in the area of the Penobscot bay in Maine, nearby the city of Bangor and Acadia National Park. It is considered part of the Wabanaki Confederacy, which includes the Abenaki (modern-day Vermont/New Hampshire), Penobscot, Passamaquoddy (located just to the north of Penobscot territory), Maliseet (northernmost Maine and Quebec), and the Micmac (or Mikmak, Mi'qmaq, and other variations, I haven't been able to find easy clarification on the spelling, largely because a number of these woodlands languages, as they are called, don't have a set romanized script in place as they're almost completely extinct, with the exception of Micmac).

book rec for today is the scapegracers! it’s written by a non-binary fem author (whom i love) and it’s about a teenage lesbian witch finding a coven of her own. the story is very well written, and demonstrates deep platonic connections very well. the writing feels almost visceral, and i could not put it down. 10/10, would read forever if i could.

it’s called the dead and the dark. it’s a great book about the daughter of a ghost hunting team moving to a small middle of nowhere town and falling in love with the resident nice small town girl. the town is covering up a dark secret and so is the ghost hunting team. no more spoilers than that :)
i loved the book, it’s very suspenseful, and it had me stumped on who the main villain could be. fantastic book.

iron widow doesn’t outright say it’s polyamorous, but it most definitely is, no if ands or buts about it. very dark though, and an actually morally grey main character. very good book though.
two is the gilded wolves. it involves less queer romance, and it’s not a central part of the book so i don’t know if that’s what you’re going for, but either way it’s still a good book. it’s set in the late 1800s, has BIPOC characters whilst also talking about how white colonialism erased said characters culture and their roots. it’s sort of a steampunk magic related mystery. also a good book

The last one reminds me of a heartwarming and kinda fucked up story relating to my hyperfixation. This will be long. In Frankenstein Must be Destroyed there’s a r@pe scene that was literally shoehorned in at the last minute. The actors and director all hated it but the producer made them do it because he thought it would make it sell better in America (Hammer are English)because there was “not enough sex in it”. This doesn’t make sense for Dr. Frankenstein’s character at all. it was supposed to be longer but Terence Fisher was so sick of it that he walked out of the set of his own movie. Peter Cushing, being the gentleman he is, took Vanessa Carlson out to dinner and discussed how they were going to do it because neither of them wanted to. He was so horrified by this whole thing that after it was over he asked if he’d hurt her and apologized for literally an hour. Vanessa refused to be stripped like the script said so they had Peter’s body shield her.

What if he has not yet fallen? He's just an angel. And then as time goes on and he does more killing, thinking he's going by the ineffable plan, he slowly starts to descend. He's gaining too much pleasure in the sins he's commiting. He never even notices he has fallen until he's no longer welcome in heaven and has to face who he is. But there is no disgust. There is no self loathing. He loves what he has done. He truly is fallen. It was such a gradual descent that he doesn't have the innate horror that he is no longer protected under God. He just is what he is. A killer. He'll go back to his job at the casino and continue with his killings. He truly has the taste for blood now. It's a part of who he is. A fallen angel with blood on his wings.

In the story she lives in a bunker community, and she has a job as a mutant hunter (basically she goes outside the bunker and either goes on missions to find resources or push the mutants of the bunker’s property) with some of the supporting characters. She accidentally adopted a girl from the surface who almost died and she’s a hardcore lesbian.

Their failed experiments, the ones that didn’t look human enough or were too hostile or just plain dangerous, they dumped out into the wild, mostly because they didn’t know where else to put them. Those were the first mutants, and they started thriving in the wild, eventually stifling normal life from staying there, then going on a rampage in nearby towns. The Mutant Panic, as it’s called, isn’t worldwide, but it’s still a problem.
I've been thinking about anxiety lately, specifically my own experiences. As I'm growing older I've noticed my coping skills have gotten better, but when I do get anxiety it's more tiring. Maybe it's because life in general just gets more stressful as you grow older? Idk
Another thing I've noticed is that I've gotten more awkward lately. It's hard to describe what I mean by that, but I've been noticing the people around me more, making me more aware. I've been stumbling on my words, had more long silences than before, and I've been rambling more.
And the thing is even though I know that these aren't bad things, my anxiety just gets in my head and the next thing you know I'm tearing up because I dared complement someone by passing them an anonymous note (which took 15 minutes to work up the courage to even discretely pass to them!)

this is just something i've heard so take it with a grain of salt, but apparently symptoms appearing to get harder/more tiring to deal with as you heal is a pretty usual experience since you feel that way less often, so when it does happen it stands out more. it's not that you're more anxious, it's that you're *less* anxious overall and not used to the feeling - which is a good thing!
as for the becoming more awkward, that's the same thing i've been noticing about myself... i have a few guesses as to what it might be for me, so maybe your reason is among those too? for me it's probably a combination of 1) i was awkward before, but so dissociated i didn't even notice it that much because i wasn't aware of my behaviour. now that i'm less dissociated, i'm noticing these things about myself 2) i'm less dissociated, so i'm more aware of the situations i'm in, giving me more things to be anxious/awkward about 3) i repressed my emotions really hard up until recently, the anxiety was still there but hidden, so it finally coming out in the form of stumbling on words/awkwardness etc. is actually a step in the right direction!
again idk if any of these are what's happening to you but i've had similar experiences so i thought i'd give my two cents :)

as an SA victim, i would like to weigh in on the last one. I think depictions of SA when done respectfully and correctly, for a plot-related reason that makes sense can work and can be done very well. However, it is very easy to do it incorrectly and horribly. I think completely stopping depictions of SA in media would not have the intended effect. I think it might actually end up making victims feel more alone, as it makes the subject feel "taboo" and "dirty" which does not encourage victims to heal or feel safe enough to come forward, or even talk about it, which I know from personal experience. I understand where this person was coming from, and I agree partially, but I just wanted to say my two cents on it.

Hey I have a question. So I have this half-black half-Japanese oc who is muscular and butch but who’s also likes dresses. She ships goods with her boyfriend and girlfriend and her boyfriends partner. I feel like because black women are masculinized a-lot if this would be a bad oc to make. Her bf is the main character so their romance is a focus in the plot and I never really focus on the girlfriend but I will in the future. Sorry rant.
