On my 1995 ZJ I had converted it from rear wheel drive to four wheel drive, so I reused my old rear wheel drive shaft and shortened it to the length I needed. But if you are on a bit of a budget you might be able to find a longer slip yoke to use on your original drive shaft that takes a 1310 series universal joint, in order to compensate for the extra drive shaft length you need. I have also heard of guys using dodge Dakota drive shafts
But I have never tried one myself in a ZJ.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into that Dakota driveshaft. I ask the people on the zj Facebook page about a extended slip yoke but as per usual they offered no useful information. When I was doing some digging online the only lengthened slip yoke a I could find were for a turbo 400 transmission

@@ITS305TIME with the 249 transfer case, you could possibly use a slip yoke for a rear wheel drive transmission that may be longer.
I would say look some up and compare diameter and spline tooth count. Then if need be, you could maybe get one from a salvage yard if you can't locate any new.

@@ITS305TIME I seen a. # 2-3-8251x Spicer brand at summit racing , that fits the 1310 universal joint,. It sells for about $75 .
I'm not saying that is the one.
But it might be a candidate to check into.
Otherwise Summit racing sells a lot of Spicer parts. If you can't find something on line , give them a call maybe they can help you out.
I have always had very good luck with them finding parts.

Thanks for your work I have the same problem I have a 95 jeep grand Cherokee 5.2 v8 ZJ with 3inch lift that is the way I bought it, I also going to do a transfer case swap to a old NP231AMC transfer case that been fully rebuild and a slip yoke eliminating kit done by Novak adapter they also have a cable shifter kit that will cure your shifter problem. waiting to see next video

Thanks, I just picked up a 231 out of a tj. It has the external slip yoke. Maybe I'll get lucky I and I can make that work with a 70$ TJ style driveshaft yoke.
