building one of these soon, i CANNOT WAIT. if i recall it has a transformer, which adds a hairier fuzz almost like a driven neve 1073. hudson broadcast has one too, that's been my favorite build. great demo, thank you!
I've never tried the original, but it definitely seems like Death By Audio gave the new version a big overhaul. It just sounds phenomenal! One of the most fun fuzz pedals I've tried.
Sounds like it's doing some wavefolding juju. Which is always a nice thing to see, as it hasn't been explored nearly enough by pedal manufacturers. If you like that, I would recommend the Subdecay Noise Theory, which explores wavefolding in a much more thorough way and can do some really cool stuff.
I was thinking about wave folding in pedal circuits the other day, in context of analyzing what eurorack modules have that pedals don't. I haven't done a deep dive on the concepts, add it to the list.
Great demo Stefan!!! DBA always put out amazing stuff ❤ Also, I just bought a Boss IR-200 and know you use one quite a bit. Have any recommendations for IRs or settings, stuff you actually use? I'm new to the IR thing, and I like the ones in the pedal ok so far, but I love the idea of trying some others out just for the heck of it. Also just curious what favorite settings you dig :)
Thank you very much, my friend. DBA dit really well on this one. Just sounds monstrous! Regarding the IR-200 and how I use it, I just use the stock IRs. I'm lazy and feel no need to look elsewhere if I'm pleased with the sounds I get straight from the box, and I'm more than happy with the sounds I can get out of the IR-200. I mainly just use the Natural pre-amp paired with a 112 Natural RBN 121-S Cab/Mic. EQ set to taste and a dash of the Hall of reverb and I'm ready to go :) Great pedal platform tone.
@@thepedalzone Fantastic!! With a busy work week this week, I hadn't been able to dive too deep into it, but I was impressed with the cleans and the drive sounds so far (though I'd love to have access to the Soldano sound found in the IR-2 too!). Good to know that your glorious tones don't need extra money dropped for aftermarket IRs :) Hope the family's happy and healthy dude!!
@@thepedalzone Just thought of something else. Do you have the output of your IR-200 going to a room speaker/studio monitor? I don't ever see you wearing headphones during pedal demos :D
Excellent playing and demo. I find this pedal really shines on the neck pick-ups as do most ocatve fuzzes. Do you find the same with regard to pick-up selection?
Thank you very much! I think this pedal rocks no matter what pickup position you choose. Sure, the octave will sound and react slightly different, but I find the sounds via the bridge or middle position just as useful. Octave fuzz and bridge pickup equals instant doomsday tones
Thanks, man! Really kind of you. Don’t have any solo music out there. I leave all of my solo creative efforts on this channel. I released a The Pedal Zone Soundtrack video last year though with the musical highlights from 2023. Contains some compositions I’m really proud of. You’re more than welcome to check it out 😊🤘
Hi there ! Thanks for the amazing demo ! I'm looking for a new fuzz, for noisy/shogaze style guitar, and I want something quite wierd but also with a nice a strong low end tone. Can't decive between this, and the TARS, and also the Roger That by fairfield. Any recommandation ? Thank you very much !
Happy you enjoyed the video. Fuzz War is really awesome as well. Personally I would pick Octave Clang because I use octave fuzz a lot, and I love having it as a switchable feature I can activate whenever I need to.
Makes me feel like I need to run my spitty tone bender clone into my big muff, with an analog sub octave. I have an excellent octave fuzz, but the amazing sound here sounds kind of tone bender + muff... My octave fuzz doesn't spit as hard as my tone bender (JDM Hotplate). I think I need that tone bender + muff to get this sound, with like an octave and an eq.
listened to the first composition at least 5 times! sounds amazing
Awwww! Thank you so much!
that intro jam is MASSIVE
Thank you! This pedal just sounds otherworldly huge
Reminds me of Ostraca alot!!
That first guitar is sick as hell!
Sounded healthy to me...
Krank wie die Hölle?
Balaguer knows how to make eye catching instruments. It's just as stunning to play as it is to look at :)
The first composition torches! Love those atonal 2 string moments
Thank you so much!!
That octave switch is magic! The pedal looks like a Caroline pedal which I really love as they are my favorite pedal co
A switchable octave is always such a fun thing to have on a fuzz pedal. Death By Audio knocked it out of the park with this one

Happy you enjoyed the demo. This pedal is a blast!
great job!!! can't go wrong with dba pedals!!!
Thanks, bud. 100% agree. DBA just crushes it every time
Thanks! We'll keep trying though!
Sounds awesome, seems to be a new tone control, compared to my OG Octave Clang. I love the octave foot switch!
I've never tried the original, but it definitely seems like Death By Audio gave the new version a big overhaul. It just sounds phenomenal! One of the most fun fuzz pedals I've tried.
This pedal is very interesting and inspiring!
Happy you like it. It’s one of the coolest fuzz pedals I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing 🤘

Ordered one today!
Awesome! You’re in for a treat 👌
Into a SourceAudio Manta for some wah-ish filter sweeping with an expression pedal is... just... 🎉

Sounds like another winner from DBA. Very cool
Definitely is another DBA winner to me. Happy you like it 🤘
Man that jams was great!!!
I wanted to ask you is the pedal behaves nice after buffers? Got the rv-5 rocking some shoegaze first on the chain
daaaaang!
It's a beast. Happy you dig it!
Ooof. Also, yes. Goodness
Ha! Happy you like it :)
I loved the first guitar riff you played. Do you have original music I might find on iTunes?

Awesome Video! I don't have a fuzz at all on my board.... wondering if I should get this or the fuzz war 🤔
Happy you enjoyed the video. Fuzz War is really awesome as well. Personally I would pick Octave Clang because I use octave fuzz a lot, and I love having it as a switchable feature I can activate whenever I need to.

Go for it! You're in for a fun time no matter the outcome :)
Ouch my wallet screams.Love it,and great great demo of this type of modulation. It's totally useable.
Happy you dig it. It's a killer pedal!
