If I could go back in time and had a choice of seeing either Secretariat or The Beatles live I'd pick Secretariat.

Wonderful documentary! I was 8 when Secretariat showed the world his greatness. My mother and grandmother absolutely loved this horse. I'll never forget watching his races and seeing the 2 women I loved most crying with such happiness. Thank You Secretariat!

I live in Toronto, and when Sec came here for this last race, the media hype and buzz was unbelievable, everyone was all wired up and excited to see this horse in his last race ... and we were not disappointed in the least. Oh what memories seeing him win on that nasty cold, windy and rainy day at Woodbine.
    RIP Big Red

This is my favorite professionally produced documentary on Secretariat. It's beautifully understated and mostly just lets the horse "speak" for himself.

"Not only was he the only horse to win the TC in 25 years, but it was his way of going that stirred people's hearts." Each race won in spectacular fashion, unique and thrilling, in the WAY he did it. Never again...

cf1970 always has the best races! I was
privileged to meet him Secretariat 3 times
and have a piece of his mane and a horse
shoe. My favorite moment was feeding him
    clover.

Watch him fm 3:42 to 3:58, especially at the end... and then he looks right over at the camera, he knows we're all watching him, and he loves it.

As an American of Canadian descent - my grandparents were Canadians who moved to Boston in the 1920's - I'm delighted that Secretariat's last race was at Woodbine. AND this is probably the best documentary anyone has seen actually showing Secretariat or any horse who might enter a race in Canada or anywhere else. They don't all make money, the horses, not the money Secretariat made, and those who don't perform face an unpleasant fate, I'm just saying....

Such a beautiful horse. Big Red loved running and he showed them at the Belmont Stakes making the Triple Crown. Amazing gift God gave him.

I enjoyed this alot....thank you. I believe all animals go to heaven. along with mine, I'd sure like to see him! what a great horse. I wish I could have known this great horse. how proud they all must have been. To have loved him...eddie the groomer loved him so much too. I liked what I read about him saying good mornin and puuling his tounge and soon every moring during his race days he would put his tounge out when eddie past him

@ihatenoodles Likewise :) In Australia a fairly decent horse used to race under the name of Miss Secretariat a fair few years back. After watching the film and perusing the RUclips clips, no horse should ever be compared to Secretariet, not even in name. What a wonderful animal. Big Red smashed them in the Belmont Stakes like the freak he was. There was and will be no parrell to his greatness. I hope his record is never bettered. RIP champ!. Awesome video cf1970. Well done :)

@battousaiblade they say Secretariat had the calm intelligent temperament of his maternal grandsire, Princequillo, sire of Somethingroyal, Secretariat's dam, fm whom he got the large heart gene.

@battousaiblade he got that temperament mainly fm Princequillo, his maternal grandsire, also the strength and endurance he had. The video of him here is breathtaking, especially when Charlie slows him down after workout. Notice how he whinnies and shakes his head, dances a little, then looks over straight at camera.

I rushed from my farm to be one the ones on the back-side waiting in the fog that day he worked . What an honour it was, even though we waited for hours for them to bring him out ! Most exciting day of my whole horse career . Thanks for posting this . I also was happy to see my wonderful friend and mentor in this video who sadly is not with us today ... RIP Doc and Secretariat !

Like Jim Coleman said he had his first full workout just 3 days before the race And he ran that 5 furlongs in 57 3/5 seconds. The fastest anyone can remember at Woodbine. Big Red was not in top form like he was in the T.C. races. He never was in top form in any of the races following the triple crown.
