What a gift. I wish I had been old enough to have seen this magnificent athlete with my own eyes. I was only a child of 5 when this most magnificent horse ran for the world. I've been watching him today at 55 years old because he brought so much joy to millions. There will never be another Secretariat. If you decide to respond back do let me know what that experience brought to your life. He brings me joy to my own life and transcends me to better time in my own life.
I was 22 years old when Secretariat ran the Belmont. It was the most spiritual experience I ever had in my life. I swear that I saw God on my TV set pushing Secretariat around the track and I began to cry as did so many others. They must have seen or felt His presence as well because that was what most people did that day. Since then, I have never doubted the existence of God and I have never doubted why He created Secretariat. Not that we might praise Him but that we might praise His creations.
Never tire of watching clips of this magnificent horse running on wings. Were they ever able to breed his sire and dam? It's ok God showed what true perfection is. At least once in our lifetime. I will never forget watching him run tears streaming down my face, totally in awe of how he seemed to effortless eat the ground and finally let us mortals see what he was capable of doing. That in fact he was probably the most perfect horse ever.
Secretariat was amazing. To this day I have never seen a horse stretch his legs so far out. He was a beautiful machine. Much credit to Eddie Sweat who seemed to be with him constantly. This is a very nice video and I really enjoyed it. It's a nice tribute to the greatest horse ever!
Secretariat was an perfect horse. As an ex-competition rider, the power of a horse is a wonderful thing. Secretariat’s power could not be matched. He was beautiful!
I have been to Claiborne 2x The first time I did a double tour. Beautiful horses and the grooms were awesome. I mailed Mrs Pastures cookies. War front loves them. Blame only wants Peppermints. I went over to his paddock which is Runhappy's now. I looked out and over. I felt his spirit running free 🏇🐎👑🏆🌟💛🌈💙🙏Love you Secretariat 💝💖🥰
I've watched the movie "Secretariat" over & over so many times...I'm at awe with this magnificent creature. God said to him "You're The One" ..and there he went..on wings.
I was a little kid in southern Ohio, my grandfather a farmer in Kentucky. My grandparents were up for a visit and my grandfather was SO excited about the upcoming Kentucky Derby, even as an 8 year old I can remember it. We watched the race as it happened and he just kept saying to me, don't take your eyes off the tv this this horse is making history right now and you will remember this forever. He was right.
Thank you sharing that story:-) People today don't understand the significance of Secretariat...I do:-) His significance can't be measured...because it will only happen once...and it will never happen again. He brought an entire nation to tears...and people who weren't even around in 1973...cry watching it 40 years later. Everything about Secretariat was supernatural...the Belmont made us mortals realize that the perfection we all strive for...happened on June 9, 1973.
I picked Secretariate in the Derby and my dad thought it was funny. I picked Secretariate in the Preakness and my dad thought I was lucky. I picked Secretariate in the Belmont and my dad spent the rest of his life telling everyone how his daughter had picked Secretariate to win the Triple Crown. There will never be a horse with a heart that big, and a desire to run so strong.
We always talk about Sec as the horse God sent, which I truly believe he was a special gift from God. It just dawned me the other day as I was looking at pictures of his face, I was thinking how unique his face marking was and then I realized,.... it looks just like an arrow pointing up toward the heavens. Thank you Jesus for such a beautiful creature to inspire us.
A spectacular video tribute to this once-in-a- lifetime, matchless horse: a gift from God, indeed. You did an amazing job of bringing this story to life and your choice of music was perfect. God, what a beautiful horse....just to see him, even standing still, takes your breath away.
Eddie Sweat, who's nickname was Shorty. I believe He is the reason Secretariat was such a Happy Horse. So little respect is given to the Grooms who spend all of their time loving, caring & pampering the horses. Sometimes they even sleep in the stall to keep the horses safe. I will be forever Grateful to Eddie, for taking care of my Favorite Horse. Eddie has since passed away, but take heart knowing he is in Heaven, taking care of Big Red. God Bless You, Eddie!

I read a story recently of a 4-year old boy who died and went to Heaven, then came back to life. He told his dad that Jesus has a horse that only He can ride. Nobody else in Heaven can ride the horse that Jesus rides. I have to believe that the horse that Jesus rides is Secretariat. Beautiful video!!! Sometimes - once in a great while - God smiles down on us all and shows us that perfection CAN be attained. Secretariat is one of those few precious moments.
I remember telling my father he would take the Kentucky Derby and he pulled away and left them standing it was like he had wings, I knew he would be a triple crown winner. Awesomeness, Beautiful, that was when I was in high school and I will never forget Secretariat!
For the day he was born, he was a gift from God. Secretariat was one of a kind his heart was two and a half sizes of any other horse. He absolutely loved his fans and loved to run. We were lucky to see him and to know his greatness. Maybe if I can make it to Heaven I would love to see him there. Just the mere thought of being so close to perfection would astound my soul. I'm so blessed I was born when I was. I've seen JFK, Secretariat, moon landing...everything since the 50's. It's been an honor. Secretariat remains at the top of the list for me as an example of champion. I've always judged horse racing by their heart.
He just knew he was great. Remember watching him win all three to get the triple crown. It was so great, And what power and strength in every aspect of him.
I was married to a great man in June 23, 1973. Same victory month as our Amazing Secretariat winning those jaw dropping races! We celebrate 50 years June 23, 2023! I knew I did the right thing!
That was one of God's greatest creations ever, I know he smiled on him everyday, and to this day he is proud of what he made, I will love Secretariat forever, always, Love you all, Michele.
He had God given speed and stamina unmatched to this day. But the love that was bestowed on him by Penny, Eddie, Lucien and Ronnie, along with the whole of Claiborne farms filled his heart to epic proportion. There will be great horses, but there will never be another Secretariat!!
We will never see another Secretariat! He was a fluke of nature in the best possible way, beauty, speed, power, heart, personality? You name it; he had it. Beauty? When nothing needs to be added, taken away, or modified! It will be 50 years in 2023 since he won the triple crown in 1973. He still holds all the triple crown track records, Belmont Stakes will never be broken. Why? Majestic and gift from the heavens. Rest in Peace, big red as you are one of a kind! ✌
Fantastic video!!! Well done and no creature more worthy of it than the mighty majestic Secretariat!!! I counted his his rear legs hang time at 13 seconds!!! The horse literally was flying! 13 seconds his rear feet in the air until they touched the ground! Unspeakable stride! I do believe its fair to say he IS the greatest Athlete this world has ever seen and there have been unbelievable athletes throughout history but Big Red stands alone!

All horses should be compared to Man O War Secretariat did not match Man O War’s Record secretariat ran more races but lost many more than Man O War was the greatest......
@@r.french4415 You sir are right Man O War was indeed a great horse and won more races that Secretariat,BUT no horse then or since ( and over 2,000,000 horses that have been born since Secretariat died ) have beaten his time in the triple Crown races, and the Belmont may never be broken while any of us are alive to see it. All great horses are compared to Secretariat, because he was the epitome of sport greatness! Look in the dictionary for the word greatness, and you may see Secretariats picture !
Yes he did. Penney was asked in an Interview which horse did she like best. She said Riva because of him she was able to pay off a large portion of the tax debt her father owed on the farm. Then Secretariat came along and that sealed the finance situation for the family. Even now her descendants profits off the Sectetariat and Riva connection. It bothered me that she syndicated both horses that financially saved her family. There was three ways she could have shown her appreciation to Riva and Secretariat and remain the Owner of them both.Like so many around me said ther was other ways she could have utilized them. The first was retire them so they could live out the rest of their days unburdened and simply being horses. Secondly since they were world renown made Meadow Farm a tourist stop, with Viva and Secretariat being the attraction. Finally if she choice breeding, she could have built a new Breeding shed there on Meadow Farm and have prospected suitors come there or allow them to breed naturally in the field. Not the situation of Clairborne where Sectetariat ended up with 28 investors and over 600 Foals..such a shame he was utilized like this. Had she made any of these suggestions about Secretariat would have remained at Meadow Farms along with Viva in the care of the exceptional Eddie Sweat and , Charles
I didn’t know who he was until my husband who loved horses and betting and going to the track or the flat in New Jersey. He told me who he was and we watched him on TV for the derby and the Preakness and then through horse friends of his he got tickets to the Belmont and we went as a first anniversary trip and I have to say that other than having my children it was the most exciting day in my life. I can still feel the excitement. I fell in love with him over the TV and when I saw him in person I was completely in love and today every time I see something on RUclips, I watch it to bring back that feeling, the sound, the screaming that went on while he was circling that felt like, he was going to take off. I mean he was still racing after the finish line he could have gone on for another half mile. He didn’t want to stop and I am sorry they didn’t raise him in his fourth year when he was more developed because he loved to run. . That’s what made him happy and I think he would’ve shown us even more.
I looked up some facts about Secretariat recently, because I wrote a review of the movie "Secretariat" starring Diane Lane and John Malkovich and others. Nearly everyone knows that he decimated the field at Belmont Park on 6-9-73, winning by 31 lengths. And lots of folks know that his time of 2:24 easily broke the record for not only the Belmont but also the track. Still fewer knew that that time of 2:24 set a WORLD RECORD for 1.5 miles. and here is the kicker ... he STILL OWNS the world record
To Tori & Skippy God created horses for man. I know this much Secretariat was treated great absolutely great Mrs. Tweedy would have never ever treated him any other way. And after each race they are tested for drugs, there were no drugs in Secretariat. What he had was a heart of a champion one so big that he was made by God. A heart two and a half sizes bigger than any other.
God did not create horses or any other animal for us. These relationships where always meant to be symbiotic but the ego in man says God put them here for us. No your missing the point. With that said this horse was without a doubt the greatest horse to have ever run and indeed was sent from God.
When I was 4 years old we lived in Ft. Lauderdale FL and my dad said we are going for a ride.. Long ride for a 4 year old but really 45 minutes to Hialeah FL to see a horse train. The great Secretariat ❤ I never thought about it again until the movie and I said OMG I got to see that horse. He's still the Best Ever. 💚💚💚💚💚💚
What PERFECTION! In every aspect of this horse, just perfection! I don't think any critic could find a flaw in this horse, even though he had 3 white legs.
I wish I could have seen him in action but that was long before my time but I am glad today I can meet him read about and watch movies about Big Red I never new of you now I know about you Big Red make me cry for joy and appreciation Thank You
Normally I prefer the action videos to the slideshows but the way you have put this one together is stunning! Just really awesome and emotional. I'll be back for sure. I fell in love with this horse as a 21 year old young girl and I've never been able to give my heart to another equine! I do hope however that I'll Have Another will win tomorrow, I believe he can do it and I believe if we really cheer him on and want him to win he will, and I believe Big Red wants him to win too!!
I hoped for that too. They took good care of him in Japan and now at his current farm. I hope when he retires he goes to Old Friends so I can meet him.🥰🏇🐎👑👑🏆🌟💛
Thank you soo much!!! What a beautiful tribute to the KING!!! I've haven't seen some of these pictures so it was a thrill!! I was 10yrs old when he won the holy grail of racing and started riding right afterwards!!! You brought me to tears...thank you!!🎈🎈

The only thing you need to know, he was running 36 mph the first time past the post and 39 mph the last time , he ran each quarter mile faster then the last….I fell in love with this beautiful big red horse at 10 and at 59 i still call him big red.
I also have a locket of Flatter his great grandson by His grandson Super Sire Super Racer AP Indy and his beautiful daughter Trusted Company. All 4 have passed and when I pass I pray to God I can meet them 🏇🐎👑🏆🌟💛🥰💖💝🐖💙🌈
I was fortunate enough to see him race. It was the Woods Memorial. The race he lost before winning the triple crown. I still wish I had the ticket. Even though he lost that race, I still was blessed to see the greatest race horse ever. It is something I will treasure for the rest of my life!
I had the honor of meeting this magnificent horse at the Kentucky horse park, his handler was surprised that he did not try to bite me when I went into his stall at the barn of fame, I told him he knew that I would've bit him back! I kissed him on his "velvet", he had soulful eyes, just such a gorgeous boy! my heart broke when he passed away later that year.
Your Quiet Welcome cmf4321...We had just started going to the racetracks in 74', But my 1st lesson was SECRETARIAT was the greatest Racehorse EVER ! Which i will always remember through that "Teller " (as if it was yesterday) It was the way he Turned & Smiled ! As if he was talking about 1 of his KIDS !
Do the math. Belmont record 2:24, which still stands 42 years later. Next fastest winner, 2:26.0, a difference of 2.4 seconds. At a 37 mph average, and a 36 mph last furlong, and given that an average horse 'length' is considered to be 8 ft, Secretariat would have finished 13 lengths in front of the next fastest Belmont winner, and 17 lengths in front of American Pharoah. AMAZING!!
Every time I see this beautiful greatest of all horses a tear comes to my eye realizing that he is gone. But he will never be forgotten as long as there is horse racing!
I loved loved loved that vid. The most beautiful horse I've ever seen. I wonder will there be another in my life time. Thank you so much for putting this together, I've actually watched about 5 times.

THE BEST of memories ! Pittsburg, Ca. The east bay was a wonderful place to grow up in that era !!
My first time seeing this one! Just awesome! Big Red was breathtaking in everything he did.
Remember the days of greatness. Poetry in motion. We can feel it.
Gone ,but never to be forgotten !!!!
He still holds all the triple crown track records,
Belmont Stakes will never be broken.
Why?
Majestic and gift from the heavens.
Rest in Peace, big red as you are one of a kind!
✌
Never be forgotten my beautiful big boy secretariat
THE WORLD CONTINUES TO WITNESS GOD'S TRIPLE EVENT OF THE GREATEST PERFORMANCE ON EARTH. RIP BIG RED!
Every time I watched the movie it brought tears to my eyes, and god knows how many times I have watched it.
It brings tears to my eyes everytime I see him run, it's just something I can't help doing, I always thing he looks like poetry in motion...fluid!
God knew what he was doing! Beautiful beautiful Secretariat.
Beautiful horse Eddie love secretariat so much rip❤️❤️
There is no better description of Secretariat than “God’s Perfect Creature.” Thank you for posting this video.
Secretariat now holds the record for the Preakness as well. They did an analysis and made the correction
I had not heard of that. Diffently will need to check it out. Thank you.

And they STILL compare all horses to the Great Secretariat !!!!
+Stu Stewart They always will.
I watch Secretariat’s racing videos all the time, and I usually break down sobbing when I finish………
secretariat is the best horse any person could amagine i am breathless from this beautiful beast !!!
Not only was he a great horse, he saved a family.
Had she made any of these suggestions about Secretariat would have remained at Meadow Farms along with Viva in the care of the exceptional Eddie Sweat and

People this was Gods Horse and he sent him for us to admire perfection.
Secretariat is the horse that all other horses will be compared to and none will measure up, greatest of all time!!!
A heart two and a half sizes bigger than any other.
from a Princequillo mare (the heart)
all 3pl crown winners are from large heart doters
That is A FACT !! ...WOW !
I love him every time I see a picture of him I cry!
What PERFECTION! In every aspect of this horse, just perfection! I don't think any critic could find a flaw in this horse, even though he had 3 white legs.
Big Red’s groom was Eddie Sweat. He was Seattle Slews groom as well.
I wish I could have seen him in action but that was long before my time but I am glad today I can meet him read about and watch movies about Big Red I never new of you now I know about you Big Red make me cry for joy and appreciation Thank You
The GREATEST and so MAJESTIC. I LOVED the movie and watch it over and over.
I hope when he retires he goes to Old Friends so I can meet him.🥰🏇🐎👑👑🏆🌟💛
Never before , never since, never again-------A horse like ---Secretariat--
He left no Doubt. Secretariat that God blessed us with a great horse.

Secretariat------one word --------Perfection!!!!
Such a touching and beautiful video of the most beautiful horse ever. It's sad he is no longer with us. Secretariat was perfect.
i have the grandson of the greatest horse that set hoof on this earth. what a magnificent creation. i also had 2 mares. the darlings of my life. they will always b family. hope 2 visit his grave one day. rip great ones.
+Allen Karmelin If he hadn't had that abscess in his mouth, I'm sure he would have won the Wood too.
Belmont...2:24... NEVER will be broken!
God Loves all his creatures ......but has a very special place in his heart for Horses...Secretariat his horse.
Agreed!., brings tears to my eyes.,,,,,,
God made this horse, and whispered in his ear “ go”.
Like you said, he was very handsome, my beautiful big boy secretariat
Your Quiet Welcome cmf4321...We had just started going to the racetracks in 74', But my 1st lesson was SECRETARIAT was the greatest Racehorse EVER ! Which i will always remember through that "Teller " (as if it was yesterday) It was the way he Turned & Smiled ! As if he was talking about 1 of his KIDS !
Love this tribute. He was the best! Thanks for sharing it.
AMAZING!!
+John Berger You have to take the average speed over the entire race for every horse. In that manner, his margin of victory is far greater.
What about Man 'O War?He stride ( which is shown at Ky Horse Park ) is bigger than Secretariat's.
Numbers don't lie. People lie.
Oh, come on-- grow up ok?
John Berger MIND BLOWING!!! Definately God's creature!!
Every time I see this beautiful greatest of all horses a tear comes to my eye realizing that he is gone. But he will never be forgotten as long as there is horse racing!
Thank you! Beautiful....
What a beautiful horse.
First MOW is the 1st best horse EVER and thank you for acknowledging he was great.
I loved loved loved that vid. The most beautiful horse I've ever seen. I wonder will there be another in my life time. Thank you so much for putting this together, I've actually watched about 5 times.
I've never seen such a great Sport Story about a Horse. Thanks keeping it a life. I watched all the "Secretariat" Docu's many time...
The horse that God built. Absolute perfection.
If I was required to demonstrate Secretariat's greatness without using words, I would show the photo at 5:00. That's the place to start for the uninitiated.
