Thank you all so much for watching, but please refrain from spoilers!🖤 The spouse had to delete one that he said he especially did not want me spoiled on.

Cute trivia thing: The text of the chapter on Assassination and Infiltration is based on the lyrics to "Happiness is a Warm Gun" by the Beatles.

Clea does such a good job of selling her pain. The classroom scene actually made me kind of teary.

Cordelia's starts becoming more than just a stock antagonist.

This episode always hits me hard. When I was in tenth grade, I had transferred schools in the middle of the school year, and about a month-and-a-half after I transferred there, we had a substitute teacher in my English class. Instead of going by the teacher's lesson plans and actually attempting to do his job, he just instructed us all to talk amongst ourselves for basically the entire class period. Except I didn't really have any friends yet, and the few people I did somewhat know were seated all the way on the other side of the classroom from me. Now my desk was in the front row of the classroom directly opposite the teacher's desk. There were desks on either side of mine, and then there were three desks behind our 3 desks, all of which were occupied by other students. I tried joining in on the various conversations going on around me, first turning to one side and then the other, then turning to the back trying to join any of the conversations going on behind me, and eventually even just trying to get the teacher's attention to maybe talk with him, and just like with Marcie in this episode, it seemed like no one even saw me or heard a single word I said. I tried doing that for at least half of the class period, and not one single person even so much as acknowledged that they had heard me, and not one of them even looked at me when I spoke. Not even the substitute teacher. He was standing in front of the teacher's desk about 6 feet directly in front of me and still completely ignored me. Eventually, I started crying in class, audibly and visibly, and the crying lasted for the rest of the class period, at least 20 minutes of audible sobbing. Still not one single person acknowledged that I was even there. I was legitimately starting to think I might actually be invisible. That's what it felt like. It absolutely felt like I had literally become invisible. This would have been around Spring 1992, a good 5+ years before this episode of Buffy came out. But this episode perfectly encapsulates what it felt like for me that day. Disturbingly so. This episode feels like it was written by somebody who knew what this felt like. In this particular episode, the monsters were just people - both the people who completely ignored Marcie when she tried to join in, and eventually Marcie herself in response to being so completely ignored. And it was such a great early role for Clea DuVall a couple of years before she played Graham in But I'm a Cheerleader. (She was also fantastic in the series Carnivàle.) But it is a hard episode for me to watch because of this one very powerful memory that it dredges up. I don't know that I could describe to you pretty much any other day from that entire school year - it was 31 years ago, after all, but that one class period is permanently seared in my mind.

Trauma is tricky like that. You could be perfectly fine all day, and then suddenly something totally random throws you back to something that wrecked you literal decades ago. I'm sorry you had to experience that.

Again a really well written episode for early on in the show, exploring how an outsider can feel when ignored, and how they can be driven to extreme actions because of this. A very sinister ending with shades of many an X-Files episode. Great indeed. Great comedy again also with Cordelia telling the story about knocking the girl down in her car, and making it all about her.

This is one of the episodes that is particularly personal to me. I've always felt invisible (enneagram 9w1 here, so that doesn't help). I've worked hard over the last year to get my voice heard, to say what I want to say, to make noise, and to get people to listen, and it's been good for me. But this episode still makes me cry. ❤😞

This is one of my favorite episodes the series, and it’s only mostly because of the Clea guest star. As someone else mentioned, this is the beginning of a much needed development arch for Cordelia, and you start to get hints about Xander’s home life. It also starts to drop hints at the levels of Buff’s powers.
This is also the first of many guest stars from future Hollywood icons; queer or otherwise. Unfortunately, there will be no Neve Campbell.

The attack in the locker room is what made the title click for me. The bat started swinging, and I was like "Oooooooohhhh, that's what it means," lol.

In real life character change takes time. This show's character arcs are likewise rather long, with lots of backsliding.
