    Thanks for putting this up. I don't know if I could have installed the door flap without it. One tip is, before you unplug the wires, take a picture of which wire goes to what terminal. The wires are color coded so it will be easy if you take a pic of it when it's still assembled.

    worked like a charm. mine was slightly different, I had one main plug I could undo instead of replacing those 5 mini plugs but still same process. thanks for the video

    Pretty dang good video. I fixed mine because I saw this. My mechanism fell apart because the right knuckle of the flapper door hinge broke. This knuckle is molded with the back plate and would have been very difficult and expensive to replace. I had to fashion a new knuckle out of thin metal and screw it to the back plate. Seems to work just fine, now. Couldn't have fixed this without your video. It might have helped me a little more if you'ld spent a few seconds showing the whole mechanism and how it works.

      5 years later and I'm here because this ^^^ comment is exactly what happened to me. I was thinking of super-gluing a small washer over what's left of the tab to hold the long hinge bolt. Glad to hear you got something figured out.

    Can you replace just the rubber padding part that actually makes the seal? My door flap opens and closes fine but the seal is degraded and does not make a tight seal and ice forms in the chute.

    I have a whirlpool side by side GC3SHAXV02 but there are many other brands and models like mine that the ice chute replacement kit etc doesn't show how to completely remove the display panel. Removing the lower clips with the normal process is valid but there are 3 more clips that I found. They are tucked up under the lower edge of the display face. There are 3 clips and if you get a flashlight and look just up under the overhanging face plate with a mirror or forward facing camera face you will see them. You just pop them down and out. Mine were black, clipped into a white piece. You need to pop these off after the 2 normal bottom clips are already popped loose.

    My refrigerator is making ice in the duct right after this door, could it be the defect? Thanks

    Is this the solution to my ice dispenser getting frost and ice build up around the inside of the icemaker and inside chute

      I like to know the answer to this question also?

    Would this be what I need to do to fix ice forming around the chute on the inside? I'm trying to fix my wife's aunt's fridge. It is a whirlpool ed5kvexvq00.

      I need to know this as well. Ice is building up at the bottom of where the ice drops down on the inside of the freezer and along the inside of the door where the ice shoots out

    what if one side of the little plastic piece that holds the pin is broken, of course that would be the case at our house.

      Unfortunately you can't buy that piece separate from the dispenser door kit. That kit can be found here: www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Dispenser-Repair-Kit/8201649/1028769?TLSID=1773

      The kit referenced would not fix the issue described. The fridge at my office and my house had the exact same problem as described here. There's really no good easy fix, other than the fashion some type replacement macgyver style as an earlier commenter mentioned

    Why would you demonstrate on a BLACK fridge w\o bright light & viewers cannot clearly see what you are doing throughout the entire video?!!!!!

    • @mamalama268
      @mamalama268 4 года назад

      Dianne Anderson I thought the same thing 😄 My problem is the black little plunger piece fell off when the flap got jammed and we tried to fix it. I think from the video I figured out where it needs to go but hopefully it works trying to get it back in.i agree that the black on black with minimal lighting is making it hard to see all of the components
