You are the best people on this planet! My fridge was spewing water from the water dispenser at random: we thought we had a ghost.
The water could be triggered simply by closing the left door. I thought some scary thoughts that there may be some relay (somewhere deep) that started to fail. It is to my amazement that we found out the little gray actuator pad was to blame. It got "pushed" in too hard and remained semi-pushed. Upon close observation there are two narrow transparent plastic strips that act as springs (and quite frankly not sure how they survived 5 years inside our KitchenAid). THANK YOU !!!

Thank you so much for the video. Saved me hundreds by doing it myself. Getting the front panel clips off was the hardest part. Mine didn’t come off as easy. Thanks

Still works in 2021! Watch his moves carefully and it becomes an easy, although multilayered, repair.

Excellent instructions. I was able to replace a pad that has only been working by pressing very hard, for the last several months. Now it works better than new! My water hose was not removeable on my model, so it just hung there while I finished the other part of the project. It was no big deal as the ice door module was not heavy so there was very little stress on the hose.

Haven't done it yet but I'm sure doing it myself will save me a couple hundred bucks in repairing my fridge that's only a year old and was considering just buying a new one before my mechanic sent me this video link. Thanks!

Wow! This was amazing. Had an issue with the water dispenser randomly running water. Followed this step by step and figured out what the issue was (a piece of plastic on the pad had broken off). Only trouble I had was removing the spill tray. You took 2 seconds, it took me…a lot longer.

This is the issue I’m currently having. I’m locking the controls when it’s not in use. Did replacing the pad resolve your problem?

    • @grc7076
      @grc7076 Год назад

@@tek-225 I didn’t replace the pad. I Just switched the plastic pieces on the ice dispenser side with the water side. Our ice maker hasn’t worked in years, so switching them was cheaper than replacing the entire pad.

Just performed this repair for our Whirlpool (GI6FDRXXY02) refrigerator. After 11 years, the water dispenser actuator pad wore out. Replaced both ice and water pads. Very easy repair, just follow this video to the letter. Amazing how much cheap plastic these high wear parts are made of.

I have the same model refrigerator. Going to order the parts on Sears website. We have to keep our water locked at all times. Glad these instructions worked on yours so I know it will work on replacing mine.

Thank you for the instructions, they apply to my whirlpool fridge although a different model. The problem I have is the actuator replacement pads are of such poor quality that after a year, I'm finding myself replacing them again. Plastic is just cracking and we use the water and ice very seldom.

Just followed these instructions today to replace a broken water dispenser paddle that had lost its spring and was dumping water at random moments. Thank you for this excellent resource! The only difference in my case was that the bottom tray and back panel are a single molded piece rather than 2 separate ones, but it looks the same and is removed the same way.
Now if you could just help me find a replacement trim bezel for the electronic control ... sadly that part seems to be discontinued ...
    Thank you!

Thanks for the video. I was worried that it wouldn't be nearly as easy as you made it look - but it was a piece of cake. The only difference I noticed is that my water line was connected behind the 2 clips above the upper wire clip, where yours was connected to the lower/larger clip. Thanks again!

Do you sell just the clear plastic back with the clips? Only issue with mine is that, and not worth buying the whole thing, unless I have to.

Can you replace a non metered water dispenser on model #WRF555SDHV07 with a metered water dispenser that can be found on model #WRX735SDHV ???

  • @johnnymlcak4785

The panel must have been loose because just sticking the screw driver 3 places without showing any resistance and than panel lifts out very easy. There seems to be 3 tabs in my fridge but there is nothing to push and release. I cannot budge mine and unable to remove. Otherwise the video is good once panel is removed. I hate to destroy the panel.
