Just stumbled across this. I went to Vietnam in Sep of 2022 and carried my drone with me. I got a little bit of confrontation with security at Da Nang airport when they saw my drone in my backpack. I told them I was aware of the drone "rules" in Vietnam and promised I wouldn't fly until I was in compliance with the law. That seemed to smooth his feathers. That, and the fact that my Vietnamese wife was with me and he got some "coffee money". I think it was all for show. Once we got to my sister n law's place, which is in the countryside, I was able to fly pretty much anywhere. Here is some drone footage of the nearby country where we stayed. Going back again in Feb 2024 and will probably be a little bit more adventurous. I was a bit paranoid flying in a foreign country and knowing how things work in Vietnam. Oh glad to hear that things went smoothly! Vietnam in some cases is quite a lot about “doing and accepting things that make sense”. So like with a drone if it doesn’t endanger anyone and doesn’t annoy anyone most of the time no one will really care!
No not really. I think n it partially comes from the fact that simply owning a drone is fully legal in Vietnam. So just carrying around you can’t be considered as an offence
I wanna bring my DJI Mini to Danang. Did you have any problems at the airport? I read about security control that will keep the drone until you fly home. But that post was from 2019. What about now?
Hey man. I’ve talked about this in detail in this video: ruclips.net/video/c4OFy1M-NUo/видео.htmlsi=bhbqa8w8wJjihQdC But short answer: so far it seems safe to fly in VN but with caution!
Hi, awesome video and you described it well. Could you help me with this, Did you take permission or regitration for carrying drone to vietnam? if you know where I can register my drone for travelling vietnam with my drone?
Heya, no I didn’t make any permission docs to fly my drone. At this moment Vietnamese government doesn’t enforce that and only limits the flights in the certain areas. I think you can get a permit but it works in a day by day principle and costs around 300$ per day. I think that is made for big commercial shoots😅
Nope, no problems at all just stay away from the airport and military bases. Check the comments down below. There’s a bunch of pole who have been thinking about doing the same and some I think are actually in Da Nang now filming
Hey Carl, no I didn’t have a permit. I did a brief research of it and as it looks Vietnam doesn’t really do drone licenses yet. They have a special daily drone permit which I think costs about 300$ per day but that as far as I understood it is for commercial shooting for big companies, I imagine film companies would do that. While for amateurs the rule of thumb would be to fly safe, not disturb the people, you know the common sense things. There’re also flight restrictions near airports and government buildings but that’s like as everywhere. I’ve seen comments to this video that if you ride past lady Buddha deeper into that peninsula you wouldn’t be able to fly your drone anymore because there’s like a military outpost there. But that’s way far away from the temple.
Hi, I don’t think you do. I’ve never been asked for it and for now it looks like as long you’re not breaking laws you can fly a drone here relatively safely
Thanks a lot John I do really appreciate it☺️ The good news is that I live in Vietnam and not planning to move for now so expect more videos to come!😋 Currently I’m working Hoi An video, will release it in a few weeks☺️🤩
Hello! Im flying from Hanoi to DaNang, and DaNang to Dalat. Looks like DaNang is famous for confiscating drones… im flying twice from that airport so 😅 did you fly similar path and had good experience? Thanks!
Hey Angela. I’m just recalling my route, it was actually though Hue, I first landed there and then took a train to Da Nang. I don’t think I ever took my drone through Da Nang airport. But I’ve flown from Hanoi airport with my drones, multiple times now and it’s never been a problem. Not sure why they’d make an exception in Da Nang…
Hi there. Nopes, at this stage no one seems to be bothered much about drones unless you’re getting into restricted zones e.g. airports or private areas like some VinPearl themed parks
There's also a military array on Monkey Mountain just up behind Lady Buddha. I got warned by some locals not to take my drone up there as the military had no problems confiscating it. I also think ( not sure) there is some kind of signal interference that comes from the military array, although it appears you had no issues. Hai van pass is spectacular for drone footage.
Oh really? I actually wanted to drive there but then they said that I am not allowed to go through on a fully automatic bike, like it’s too steep for it. Shame though, there must be a really nice view from it. I tried to conquer Hai Van pass with my sister a year ago but she got in a pretty unpleasant accident there so that we couldn’t finish the route that was such a shame. I made a short video about it it, let me copy the link.
@alrightanton Awesome thank you. Yeah I owned a new Honda winner. A manual 150cc. My girlfriend at the time didn't like Hai van pass either. I ended riding it many times, even at night. I made sure to stop at the little Buddha shrine to give a few dollars, you know. Maybe a little insurance. 😆
@@peelypeelmeister6432 oooh Honda winner is a beast! I’m really tempted to buy it, but I really don’t want to have a possibility to accelerate fast - I’m just gonna kill myself😂 I ride my old Honda PCX and feel pretty happy about it 😅
Can u bring tour drone to Vietnam? Im reading that you have to have a permit for each flight?? And u have to rehister 14 days before arrivjng?? Is it so hard to go to Vietnam with a drone?
Yeah I’ve never experienced that. I’ve lived in Vietnam for almost three years now and never been asked to register my drone. I think that is for commercial, big kind of projects
Hopefully you were able to join the buffet in Banana Hill. We loved it. It was mainly for the Vietnamese people in Vietnam whom want to get the exposure to the European style yet they couldn’t go. I think. Because we’ve seen Italy and Paris i was reluctant to go too. Beautiful view!!!! Thank you.
Thanks!😍 Oh I actually missed the buffet😅 I think we came a little bit too late and then the rain spoiled our plans too😂 But yeah I agree with, I guess this is all done for Vietnamese who haven’t been to Europe yet. Still a shame sometimes that they build all this. I’d always choose wild nature over some artificial villages😅
why does Ba Na hills have European style?? Vietnam has a policy to attract tourists from all countries from China, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East who are not from Europe. so much richer. sorry if that bothers you
Haha it doesn’t really bother me, just kinda weird. Why not to promote authentic Vietnamese culture? I imagine European stuff sells better but still, it’s a shame that a Vietnamese government doesn’t do that. Would be so much nicer if it was all dedicated to Vietnamese ethnicities and history.
@@alrightanton Dear Vietnam has only been integrated and developed for about 20 years, there are many new things that we need to learn before applying, so we do not approach too hastily.
Yeah true, I feel like big businesses in Vietnam don't want to spend any time on learning sometimes and want to invest while they see an opportunity. The result is sometimes pretty awkward to me😅
@@alrightanton Well I don't know. No one said anything when I flew it, and I see other channels doing it. I'm heading back there next week. I'll give you a follow-up 😅
Your Video's great, hope you guys have a good time at Vietnam. About flying drones in Vietnam, you should be aware of laws. However, as you said your experience with your drone is still not enough, you should improve more and find out some places more natural and not in city for easily filming with it.
Thanks! Yeah I'm trying to be cautious. Vietnamese laws are rather vague sometimes especially regarding drone filming so that I normally follow the principle of being careful and not flying it if I'm not feeling confident about the location.
Haha yeah, good old colonial crap. It's funny how those colonialists from quite different would still think the same when it came to building their villas all the way up in the hills😅
I understand Vietnam recently came up with a "drone permit" which has to be obtained before arrival into the country, and it's quite expensive and has a restricted flying area and time. Can anyone comment on this, please. Thanks.
I have not heard anything about it here. I’ve flown in and out of the country twice with my drone and didn’t encounter any difficulties. As for domestic flights I’ve done a number of trips an no one bothered me. Maybe that’s just my experience but so far I haven’t seen any challenges with it. Same with flying. There are some zone where you cannot fly for obvious reasons. But in most of the places it’s been fairly smooth and easy.
Oh about that so did you get there through their airport? How was that? I consistently keep getting question about that airport. To the extent that I am personally curious how things go there😂
Nice, great to know! There have been loads of questions about entering Da Nang internationally with a drone. Great to have a living evidence that this is possible!
please tell me which famous building is a true genuine and authentic architecture...???...if you go back and learn history....they are all copy from some where....wherever they invading, conquer...
Well, invasions and conquering is not a particularly good thing, don’t you think so? And the fact that it happened multiple times in the past doesn’t mean it is now acceptable. And again I’m only expressing my own opinion here, the place is quite popular among the Vietnamese so I guess they like it. It’s quite a bit of cultural appropriation but no one cares about it in Vietnam.
Yeah we might’ve read the same article. I think this relates to commercial shoot. With big budget and stuff. But when it comes to amateur shooting no one seems to care much as long as you don’t violate rules of behavior in public places.
Most European tourists say Bana Hills destroyed the natural beauty or a weird copy of medieval French architecture. In fact, the owner did hire French architects to draw the plan and the style. The hills are not built to target European tourists. Not all Asian tourists have the patience to go through interviews for visas to Europe and Europe is an expensive destination. In the last 10 years, European and North American tourists count less than 8% of international tourists to Vietnam. Before Covid, 18 million tourists visited Vietnam in 2019. Bana Hills has been a successful tourist destination since its opening and 98% of international tourists who visit Bana Hills are Asian tourists. More French castles style have been built and are near completion proving the owner's business plan is a success.
Hmm that’s an interesting perspective. I understand that. But still. Imagine French started building “Asian villages” in some really picturesque spots of France. First they’d probably be called racist and second that would be so weird…
@@alrightanton I am Vietnamese and I honestly can say Danang tourism took off thanks to Bana Hills. This city would be a quiet beach city both domestically and internationally without Bana Hills. Due to the high number of international tourists, Danang Airport was upgraded and became the third Vietnamese international airport.
@@alrightanton In Vietnam we have a proverb: Without you, the market is still crowded. It's similar to Ukraine now while you're abroad enjoying visiting exotic places in South East Asia, Ukrainian men and women soldiers are dying fighting every single day without you.
Haha well let me assure you that it's not all that positive and fun on my side either. This channel represent the positive side of my life in Vietnam, while things happening back home do affect me and my family a lot, I work a lot to support them, even if it is done from afar. @Mogens Sommer I am not sure whether you are aware of how the things work in Vietnam. I'm 100% for legal activity, though unfortunately in Vietnam being fully legal does not help. Like I followed a decent citizen principle and did a motorbike license there, even though not that many people do it. And the resutl? If police wants a bribe they will get it. I've been stopped several tiimes and they'd come up with any ridiculous reason just to get a bribe. Same thing with drone footage. It will change and imrpove at some point in the future, but right now, it's not really doable. I'd be happy if it was done in the same manner as in America - want to fly a drone - get a license, I'd be first to sign up.
@@alrightanton Just bribe the police after you do careless flying in red zones? dude.... a scooterlicence have nothing to do with a dronelicence, what are you smoking?
your own opinion (subject=bias) is come from your life time experiences, world wide knowledge...one day...when you travel more and learn more about other cultures, histories...then you will have a better (nonbias) subjective...that is when your "subjective"= Objective (facts...)....believe me , i travel from North (Baltic sea, Tripod city; sopot, Gdanzk...)--to--South of Poland....i respect their culture...their patriotism...but i don't make any subject about it...because there are many hidden histories that i don't know yet...
Replica...is happened everywhere...Rome take their architect design...some of them from Middle East (Asia) also...and refine in a better version... then other countries..replica also...don't be too ignorant, errogan...I guess...unless you are atheist,..if you are belief in God...then we are all the son, daughters of God...Asian ( non white) can't take replica from Europe...look back the History...where is Tea, China wears...firework...come from...???
Hahaha well comparing Roman architecture to Vin corporation creativity is a bit of a stretch😂😂😂 I have no objections about genuine and authentic architecture that happens to incorporate styles of other countries, I’m fine with that. Like city centre of Hanoi with all that old French architecture looks marvelous. The other things is when a corporation decides to copy style of another country just for the profit purposes. Not saying tit is bad, everyone needs to earn money. But that certainly does not attract me. Same as if my government decided to build a Vietnamese village. I don’t think I’d be interested in that either.
If you intend to fly a drone you should obtain a license which will inform you of the rules. You should not fly a drone within 5 km of any airport! Same applies to a motorcycle license without one you are not insured! I am just flew into Danang with my drone without comment from customs. I would be careful of offering to pay any official as bribery is a very serious offence!
I own a motorbike incense which didn’t stop the local police from demanding a bribe. Not gonna go into details but yeah, owning official docs in Vietnam doesn’t always mean that no one will try to get something from you. With airports the drone app won’t let you take off any near of them. Maybe with a side app you could do that but I wouldn’t recommend that especially in the restricted areas. But did you end up obtaining that license?

Oh glad to hear that things went smoothly! Vietnam in some cases is quite a lot about “doing and accepting things that make sense”. So like with a drone if it doesn’t endanger anyone and doesn’t annoy anyone most of the time no one will really care!
any issue at Danang Airport?
No not really. I think n it partially comes from the fact that simply owning a drone is fully legal in Vietnam. So just carrying around you can’t be considered as an offence
I wanna bring my DJI Mini to Danang. Did you have any problems at the airport? I read about security control that will keep the drone until you fly home. But that post was from 2019. What about now?
Hey man. I’ve talked about this in detail in this video: ruclips.net/video/c4OFy1M-NUo/видео.htmlsi=bhbqa8w8wJjihQdC
But short answer: so far it seems safe to fly in VN but with caution!
Have you had any issues flying your drone? I'm planning to bring my Mini 4 Pro this june
Nope, no problems at all just stay away from the airport and military bases. Check the comments down below. There’s a bunch of pole who have been thinking about doing the same and some I think are actually in Da Nang now filming
is it hard to get the drone through the airport?
Not really... They didn't seem to care much about my drone😅
Did you need a permit to fly in Da Nang? Or to fly near the lady buddha?
Hi Anton,
Im going to Vietnam in December do I need a permit to take my drone Mini 3 pro ?
Thanks,
@LostSoulsNV
Hi, I don’t think you do. I’ve never been asked for it and for now it looks like as long you’re not breaking laws you can fly a drone here relatively safely
Thanks 👍
Hello Anton im planning to visit Vietnam in february 2024, I got Dji mini pro 4 do I need a permit thank you
Hi Idris! As far as I’m concerned no, you don’t need that.
@@alrightanton Thank you

The drone view is just awesome.
Thanks! I kinda felt jealous for the people who live in a city with that view😅😊 It’s so beautiful out there
thank you, i love your video, welcome to my country and i hope you will come back
Thanks a lot John I do really appreciate it☺️ The good news is that I live in Vietnam and not planning to move for now so expect more videos to come!😋
Currently I’m working Hoi An video, will release it in a few weeks☺️🤩
@@alrightanton I see! Thank you!!
hello, did you ask for registration and permission to fly a drone in Vietnam in general? Thank You.
Hi there. Nopes, at this stage no one seems to be bothered much about drones unless you’re getting into restricted zones e.g. airports or private areas like some VinPearl themed parks
@@alrightanton thx ✌️
Great video, thank you.
Thanks!🤩
Love it. 😍
Thanks! I didn't know you had a blog too! Will go and have a look now☺
@@alrightanton lol. Not as professional as yours but yeah. Looking forward to learning a lot from a professional like you..
@ Haha thank you, I think I'm just a little too pedantic when it comes to video making, everything has to be perfect !😅
I made a short video about it it, let me copy the link.
ruclips.net/video/z4YTB70Cs9Q/видео.html

@@alrightanton you’re right!
@@alrightanton yeaahh i see thanks for the information
Hey! total incredible . :))
Ah thanks! I was trying my best to make it cinematic but at the same time intersting for the viewer😅
@alrightanton- bro did u take any of the approval for flying the drone ..
Currently Vietnam doesn’t issue drone pilot licenses like America or Thailand.
why does Ba Na hills have European style??
Vietnam has a policy to attract tourists from all countries from China, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East who are not from Europe. so much richer. sorry if that bothers you
Haha it doesn’t really bother me, just kinda weird. Why not to promote authentic Vietnamese culture? I imagine European stuff sells better but still, it’s a shame that a Vietnamese government doesn’t do that. Would be so much nicer if it was all dedicated to Vietnamese ethnicities and history.
@@alrightanton Dear
Vietnam has only been integrated and developed for about 20 years, there are many new things that we need to learn before applying, so we do not approach too hastily.
Yeah true, I feel like big businesses in Vietnam don't want to spend any time on learning sometimes and want to invest while they see an opportunity. The result is sometimes pretty awkward to me😅

I didn't have a problem flying the drone at the Golden Bridge in Ban Hill, so weather is good it's good to fly a drone there
Oh really? And the officials didn’t bother you? I was a bit concerned that it may be sorta illegal to fly there…
@@alrightanton Well I don't know. No one said anything when I flew it, and I see other channels doing it. I'm heading back there next week. I'll give you a follow-up 😅
Haha please do, quite curious. Maybe will come back one day, to film just that Golden Bridge😅
@@alrightanton yeah, I do couple footages of drones, please check-out 😁
@@DuyLeCreator that sounds like a nice business idea☺️ Will have a look!
Bana hill was built by the French during the invasion of Vietnam
Why am I not surprised… It looks it’s a bit of a colonial thing to take over countries and then build some resorts on chilly hilltops😬😅
@@alrightanton They need a place up high to look down their noses at all the peasants/slaves they are ruling. 😂
Hi.. how abt bringing own drone from India to vietnam for 10days tourism as a tourist? Can I fly ?
Most probably you can yeah
No restrictions whatsoever at the border for drones. And if you do not fly around the airport as Anton suggests, it’s laissez faire. Enjoy!
Oh about that so did you get there through their airport? How was that? I consistently keep getting question about that airport. To the extent that I am personally curious how things go there😂
@@alrightanton Right, entry to VN directly via Danang.
Đep
Rat dep!
❤
I read you need a 750$ per day permit to fly drones in Vietnam. Is that true ?
Yeah we might’ve read the same article. I think this relates to commercial shoot. With big budget and stuff. But when it comes to amateur shooting no one seems to care much as long as you don’t violate rules of behavior in public places.
👍
Well, hats off to that, from the economic perspective well done Vietnam. I guess I just should avoid them in the future and that's all😅
@@alrightanton In Vietnam we have a proverb: Without you, the market is still crowded.
It's really challenging but you gotta keep your head up high.
Good tip to 'check flight restrictions'. Shame you didn't follow your own advice yourself. 😛
Well you know, trying my best for the audience🤪😂
@@alrightanton Please get your dronelicence, guys like you, gonna ruin the droneflying for us all. Rule 1-2 and 3 = safety-safety and safety. Btw.........tjek for Vietnams aviation rule the next time you gonna use a drone in that country.
@@mogenssommer now I wonder whether you even watched the video? I clearly say, several times, that I did not fly in the red zones.

Hahaha well comparing Roman architecture to Vin corporation creativity is a bit of a stretch😂😂😂
I have no objections about genuine and authentic architecture that happens to incorporate styles of other countries, I’m fine with that.
