Hello Jay and Mel, I remember when I was young and I would go out to work with my father early in the morning and we would always go to a café for workers in Baghdad, and an old man would sit in front of the café and sell cigarettes, and this cigarette seller would say that Islam is a religion invented by the Jews, and this man was a Muslim. And an Arab, by the way, and I was surprised by his words, and I do not know who brought this information, but I never asked him first because I was not interested in these topics, but also because of the sensitivity of the topic, even though the Muslims of Iraq were open and did not feel any offense from asking questions that seemed critical.. I am talking here in the mid-eighties. From the last century..

No, I've heard the same. Muhammad's mother was Jewish, which makes Muhammad Jewish. The Muslim religion is basically a carbon copy of Judaism. They don't believe Jesus was the Messiah, they have kosher laws, animal sacrifice, and Jews can worship in mosques and eat Muslim food.

What a rabbit hole. There actually might be some rabbits in this one. I'm reminded here about Byzantine Emperor Leo III (an Arabic speaker) writing to Umar II regarding word about the Furqan (P'ourqan) (i.e.Qur'an) having been manufactured Umar I, Salman al-Farsi and Abu Turab (Father of Dust),. The latter was also known as Ali ibn Ali Talib, the fourth caliph the first imam of the Shi'a and, of course, the son-in-law and cousin of MHMD as well as son of Abu Talib. That chart by Ben Abrahamson and Joseph Katz is quite intriguing as it shows Asad bin Hashim's (brother of MHMD's father) daughter connected to the Exilarch Hushiel by tradition, I'm assuming.
The Yakub of Syria ("proposed Ka'b al-Ahbar) is also intriguing as he is a Yemenite Jew with rank just below rabbi (hence Hebrew "haver" translated to Arabic Ahbar) who became a Muslim and Muslim scholar. He presumably supported Uthman and Mu'awiya in Damascus. His influence definitely deserves a deep dive and, I'm assuming, we'll get one because his name is highlighted in the chart. He presumably suggested the Temple Rock as a site for a mosque that was eventually built by Abd al-Malik. His influence seems to go much deeper according to their tradition.

Ibn Wadih al-Ya‘qubi writes that "Salman al-Fārisī was ‘Umar b. al-Khattab’s governor of al-Mada'in" (Madain/Mahoza).
It was also Salman al-Farisi plan to dig a trench at The Battle of the Trench,so maybe that's where the battle took place.
Also,if the Koresh(Cyrus) are Persians,"Muhammads" battles against the Quraysh/Koresh were small battles against the Sassanids.
    And in Iraq!.

I would point out too that it was not uncommon in antiquity for persons living in multicultural societies to have more than one name. For example Kephas was also known as Peter, Saul became Paul which sounds similar. Even in modern times, it was not uncommon for Jewish emigres to America to adopt English names which sounded similar to their original Yiddish names.

"Qais Abdul Raas" is mentioned as the 37th descendant of King Saul (Benjamite) in the 17th-century book "Tārīkh-e Khān Jahānī wa Makhzan-e Afghānī" by the Mughals.
Legend has it that he came to the aid of Prophet Muhammad in his conquest.
The legend further extends that "Imam Jafir Saqid" (7th in line of descendants of Prophet Muhammad) married into the "Qais Abdul Raas" family, which is now known as the "Karlani" Bangash tribe of Pakistan. The Karlani's are considered to be of Arabian/Jewish origin. Among the famous ones are the "Bangash" (Benjamin) and "Afridi" (Afriam) tribes of Pakistan.
It is no wonder that Alexander the Great traveled from Susa with the Benjamite/Afriam tribes to the Afghan area where these tribes eventually settled.
The DNA of some of these people found in Kohat has Greek/Iraqi/Persian Origins

Pharisee/Parisa (abjad) aren't Aramaic words at all, but a Proto-Indo-Iranian loanword Parasya (abugida), meaning the others/separated/splintered. Proto-Indo-Iranian admixture is well-attested in Ashkenazi genetics (Y-DNA R1a-Z93) and archaeologically and linguistically attested by the presence of the Mitanni Empire on the border of Bronze Age Canaan.

Hello Mel and Jay, love all the work you guys do. Just to pint out a small matter at about minute 10, the notes make it appear that the Babylonian captivity lasted only 70 years. As far as Gifs curse it’s true it ended after 79 years. However, upon closer reading, the vast majority of Jews stayed in Babylon and never returned to Jerusalem. This ongoing self-exile explains why the most “authoritative” Talmud is the Babylonian Talmud and not the Jerusalem Talmud. Indeed the Pharisees originated in Babylon (and later Baghdad) long before the given date of 167 BCE. Just thought you might like to know this. God bless you both and keep up the great work!

If Salman is another name for Shallum (which has been claimed by other scholars before Mel and which I believe to be correct), and Shallum/Salman was the *brother* of Nehemiah bin Hushiel, then obviously Shallum/Salman had to be Jewish. Also, numerous key dates in the lives of Muhammad and Nehemiah are identical. I don't think that is a coincidence.

"in the mountain ju fen mo di na" - mo di na sounds a lot like Medina or al Madinah, but I have no clue what the significance of ju fen is. Maybe we need someone who knows early Medieval Chinese.
OK, I googled ju fen and still don't know what it means, but there appear to be a number of Chinese even today with this name. Also, a town in Taiwan has a similar name:
"Jiufen, also spelled Jioufen or Chiufen is a seaside *mountain* area in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan."
So maybe something to do with mountains??? Ju fen mo di na=Mountains of Madina?
Okay, I googled again and found this:
"There are 737 named mountains in Al Madinah Region."
    So maybe.

Speaking of codes and mentions of Salman al-Farsi, in the secretive Alawite belief system, Ali (Abu Turab) is the "Ma'na" (the manifestation or meaning of Allah). MHMD is the "Hijab" or curain/veil concealing Ali's identity as Allah. Salman al-Farsi is "Al-Bab" or "The Gate/Door." With the Sunnis, we have a similar structure with Umar replacing Ali as Allah. The Sunni Constitution of Faith (available in Arabic pdf) declares outright that Umar is Allah while Uthman and Aiysha are part of their confessional triad. As for Emperor Leo III's letter, we again have that triad of Umar I, Abu Turab and Salman al-Farsi. Interestingly, Umar's epithet is "Al-Farooq" or "The Savior" while "Al-Furqan" presumably means "The Salvation" instead of "The Criterion" or even "The Divider" between right and wrong, as Muslims have interpreted it's meaning.

Thank you for this. If the etymological argument is useful, please make it on etymological terms - an etymological relationship is not established merely by saying that two words have similar sounds. Maybe this is unimportant to the bigger argument being made, in which case it is a distraction and could be dropped.

    • @IslamicOrigins
      @IslamicOrigins 7 месяцев назад +2

A word play is what is being discussed. A common device used. Strict etymological rules hide these word plays. This is not an isolated occurence. Because most can only see the strict etymological rules, they miss these word plays.

While listening to you, Mel, and having read quite some papers and a book of AJDeus, a thought came up I want to share with the two of you :
We know of the claims the Qur'an came from heaven via Gibril and nothing was and can be changed etc. and it was MEMORIZED!
We hear the similar argument in regard to the "Oral Torah", today called the Talmud, which was 'given to Mose' after having received the "Written Torah".... Oral Torah was MEMORIZED from Mose til around 200 BC - about 400 AD, they claim as representing the Synagoge of Satan.
Pharisees of old followed by Exilarchs as well as Gaons and todays Rabbis were and still are not only deep into Talmud disregarding the Torah but moreso into Kabbala, which gives anyone direct access to the spiritual world with their ruler Lucifer, the Satan and his Nasi!... which today's Rabbis openly declare on RUclips!
Lucifer is their "mhdh", the praised one, their shechina with his representatives and as mentioned in the fifth lecture of Achad Haam, alias Asher Ginzberg in 1897 in Basel:
"Over the course of 20 centuries, we have stirred up personal and ethnic prejudices, racial and religious hatred among all non-Jews. Thanks to this, no Christian state will find support, because every other state must believe that an alliance against us is not advantageous for them. We are just too strong, we have to be reckoned with. Today the powers cannot conclude even the smallest agreement between themselves without us having a secret hand in it...."
The Qur'an is just another Talmud! and the giver is Lucifer again for setting up his kingdom in the end of this world, our present days.
Turn away from the world and make sure to have a personal close relationship with Jesus Christ, Who is our Creator, Father and God.

Once again, fascinating stuff. What I love is the Persian = Pharisee argument. Jews go into captivity in Babylon and come out infected with Babylonian/Persian theology which Christ has to deal with in the thinking of the people of the time.
As usual there is a bit to unpack and, once again, tends towards placing the origins of Islam away from the Saudi area and up into Iraq. Does this also mean that the Petra/Nabatean theories regarding the location of an actual Kabaa prior to the modern one would also relate to this Baghdad origin?

Mel. Got a question bro. You mentioned Farsi comes from Pharisee. But do you think it could be the other way around. You mentioned a connection to Zoroastrianism but likewise it could also be derivative from Persia.
Sadducee had their centre in Moab didn’t they, and only use the Books of Moses like the Samaritans. Ie they remained fairly indigenous. Whereas the Pharisees us the whole OT including obviously exile focused books like Daniel. Ie Pharisees are returned Jews from Farsi. Sadducees are not.
Not sure if I’m just making more holes. What I’m suggesting is that Farsi is Persian and Pharisees could be named such because they returned from Persia and kept their Persian Jewish history and heritage.

The figutr 4000 is repeated later as the Christians recaptured Jerusalem and executed the Sanhedrin along with other jews and had to be retaken by Shahrbaraz - who later became sympathetic to Christianity and was Persian emperor during an interegnum.
Unusually, the wealthy jews banded together and bought the Christian pows - 4000 and had them executed!
So with feelings runninng this high and the systemic collapse of the Sassanid empire circa 628 makes sense for a jewish leader to be a forerunner ofLawrence of Arabia.
Isnt it accepted that Arab marauders reliied on meat on the hoof for food such as camels so Abr Bakr or father of the camel was actually a military role where he was master of camels in charge of supply so him being labelled as the generic successor to Big M makes cogent sense.
In ancient Rome there was just such a role for a master pf horse.
""Magister equitum, 'master of the horse', an emergency magistrate nominated by the dictator (who was in early times called magister populi). Apart from commanding the cavalry, he was the dictator's lieutenant and deputy, whether at Rome or on military service

Which in arabic language means Salman the perisan or the one fir Persia. Mel theory is far fetch theory I doubt that it has any truth. Salman was never a Jewish scholar, he was zorostrian and chrstian scholar. Further more this theory of Salman wrote the Quran was not Mell theory it was an old fable. And the Quran itself refuted it. The Quran said ,the Quran was revealed in clear arabic language while people like Salman were not Arabs. And if you ever tried to learn the arabic language, you will know that us the most difficult language to learn. And tou will never speak it like a native no matter how long you stayed in arab country. If you looked at Dan Gibson the author of the sacred city, he spent 25 years in Arab countries and till now he even could not pronounce the name mecca correctly after 25 years. So, it is impossible for one that is not an Arab to write something like the,Quran, and the Quran language itself, point to non human origin.

Jesus is the Son of God, the Father/Son/Holy Spirit are ONE entity (Hypostatic Union), the Creator himself.
Jesus does NOT have an "Earthly" genealogy or "lineage"! Both Luke and Matthew recorded Joseph's assumed lineage, NOT Mary's. At that time, only the fraternal line was accepted. Matthew 1:16 "and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, " Luke 3:23 "Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli," Both references to JOSEPH, not Mary. Jesus is not the jwsh messiah either, as he did not match with the requirements to be so. Christians did not have a "messiah" as Christianity is based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ alone.

    tradition..
Your analysis is not connected to reality.. that word comes from the Hebrew word פרושים (Prushim). and they lived in Israel and not in Persia
The term Prushim was relevant only at the time of the second temple.. since there were a few Jewish sects in Israel(Essies, notzrim, etc).. But after the destruction of the temple, all the remaining Jews were Prushim (ie Orthodox)... Since all other sects disappeared ftom Judaism...

About Jesus’s tribe affiliation: he has none. Jesus is a Jew after his mom, but Jesus does not have a (recognized) biological father after whom he can claim the tribe. So - this is a puzzle. Jesus is the Messiah but not as expected. His the messiah coming FROM the Jews - but he is not the “Jewish Messiah” as expected. Rather coming with sword, Jesus is coming with the teaching of humility and service.

The simple answer to this question is no. The leadership of the Jewish people in exile in the Sassanid Empire is well attested. I suggest that instead of indulging in speculation that you study Talmud, where this period is well documented. You may also then decide to leave idolatry and return to the G-d of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.

You are shooting from I don't where again. Salman Al Farsi was Persian. He converted to Christianity so that he can travel to Roman territory. Persia and Romans were mortal enemies in those days. Romans were very strickt in enforcing Christian only. He seems to have spent some time with some Christian monks and priests during his travels to obtain some credentials. Eventually someone discovers that he is Persian and
they sell him into slavery. I suppose they did not trust Persian slaves as well. His last master was a Jew in Madina. While he was a slave, he converts to Islam. The Prophet paid for his freedom.
He was kind of adopted by the Prophet, as he was neither from Mecca, nor from Medinah. Keep in mind that Jews were expelled from Roman territories because of their rejection of Jesus. He would be killed most likely if he were a Jew. Jews in Medinah escaped the Romans as well.
You are engaged in lies and misinformation. If you really believe in Jesus, you should not mix your personal ambitions with your service to him.
If you lie in the process, everything you say about Jesus will be viewed as a lie as well.
You are exposing the ugly face of Romans as you try to put down Islam. They were really brutal, ruthless even to each other. The love professed by Jesus
is a newly discovered artifact. There was no such a thing. It was all blood all the time.

Roman soldiers, governors, and eventually the emperor Constantine, were converted by many things: the faith shown by the Christian martyrs they tortured to death, the wondrous miracles accompanying those martyrs, signs in heaven - lights shining on martyrs' tombs, etc.
Keep denying the true God if you wish, foolish muslim, but try not to tempt other souls down to hell with you (bad for them, worse off for you!).

The roman soldiers, governors, and eventually the emperor Constantine converted due to various reasons: the faith of the Christian martyrs they tortured to death, or the wondrous miracles accompanying the martyrs, or signs from heaven above - eg. lights shining on the martyrs' tombs, the famous chi-rho sign given to St. Constantine, etc.
