Hi Jay and Mel! I just want you to know how much I enjoy your videos and the work that you do to establish the early history of Islam. I just wanted to comment here to point out a couple of things that you might not be aware of. First, counterclockwise circumambulation isn't just Jewish. As an Eastern Christian clergyman, I can tell you most assuredly that all Eastern Christian clergy circumambulate their altars (holy tables) in the course of their services, and it is always done counterclockwise. This is the case because the procession must be performed in such a way so that we turn to the right. As I am sure you are aware, in Biblical language, to turn to the left is to deliberately choose evil. Further, I feel that I should point out that the holy table in an Eastern Christian church, whether Chalcedonian, Monophysite or Nestorian, is shaped like a cube. Today, because of the prevalence of the metric system, altars in the Byzantine Rite are usually a meter cubed. Altars among the Syrians and Copts are similarly cubed, and the processions are invariably performed in the same direction. All of that being said, I wanted to express some misgivings that I have about the Jerusalem thesis. First of all, I would like to point out what you are, undoubtedly, already aware of, namely Dan Gibson's very compelling argument in Quranic Geography connecting Petra and its environs with Ad (Biblical Uz) and Thamud (the people after Ad, in other words Edom). Based on that argument, it seems far more likely that Petra was an established place of Nabataean/Arab cultus (an anti-Jerusalem so to speak). Religion, it seems to me, is intrinsically conservative. Innovation, much less revolution, are rare. There must have been an established pilgrimage destination for the Arabs, and, because of Byzantine religious policy, it could not have been Jerusalem. Perhaps the genesis of Abrahamic cultus at Petra arose out of denial of access on the part of the Byzantines to anyone who did not profess a modicum of doctrinal orthodoxy. It is, after all, unthinkable that the authorities of the Byzantine Empire would have permitted a bizarre East Syrian, Ebionite Arab sect to use the Holy City for some sort of proto-Hajj. The building project on Mt. Moriah in the time of Abdel Malik seems like, perhaps, an abortive attempt to co-opt the completely Christian (and largely Chalcedonian, at that period) sanctuary to the purposes of the Petran- Arabian cultus, once Arab Ebionites had attained the ascendancy in the Umayyad regime. The Marwanids are apparently from Merv in Iran (thus the name), which is precisely where one would look for Ebionites to have survived as late as the 7th century. Thus, it was not the case of replacing one pilgrimage site with another, but simply adding a new one (in addition to Masjid al-Haram, we now have Haram al-Sharif). Christians (which is what these people apparently were) are used to the idea of having multiple pilgrimage sites. Nor is it particularly surprising that the same rituals are associated with more than one site. Apparently, we know from the numismatic evidence that Mu'awiya had devotions to the Great-Martyr Saint Sergius (Risafe) and Saint John the Baptist (Damascus). It is likely that the martyria of these saints were common pilgrimage destinations for him and his family. In any case, thank you for all the food for thought.

The Church of the Seat of Mary (Latin: Ecclesia Kathismatis, from Greek: κάθισμα, romanized: kathisma, lit. 'seat'), Church of the Kathisma or Old Kathisma being the name mostly used in literature, was a 5th-century Byzantine church in the Holy Land, located between Jerusalem and Bethlehem. It was built on the alleged resting place of Mary on the road to Bethlehem mentioned in the Proto-Gospel of James. The church was built when Marian devotion first rose to great importance, following the First Council of Ephesus of 431. It is one of the earliest churches known to have been dedicated to the Theotokos (Mary the God-bearer) in the entire Byzantine Empire.

Another possible Hebrew origin of the word "Kabba": I noticed this when I was reading the weekly Parshah, Balak, last week. In Numbers 25:8 "And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly". The Hebrew word for "the tent" here is "ha- Qubah" - "הקבה" - an odd word to use for tent, as the usual would be "ohel" or "mishkan". In the immediate surrounding passages, mishkan is the word repeatedly used for a person's tent. Mishkan and ohel also refer to the Tabernacle, the "tent-of-meeting" or "holy tabernacle", so presumably the word "qubah" or "qabbah" could also refer to the holy tabernacle. The reason I think this unusual word is used in this verse was to make a pun with the word for "her belly" in the latter part of the verse, "qabatah", which is the same root, "qabah" (the "tah" part of "qaba-tah" makes it into the female possessive" i.e. "her") Unkelos's translation of the word "qabah" is "qubatha", same root, but actually the hebrew is closer to the Arabic "qaba" than is the Aramaic. For "her belly" he uses a totally different word and loses the pun, but the meaning is clearer. Now that I think about it, "qabah" is a strange word to use for belly as well. I'm not a Hebrew expert, just a casual Jewish reader, so I'm just pointing out what I have personally noticed. If the word "qaba" is used elsewhere in the Bible for tent, I haven't noticed it. But the fact that it is there even once shows it could possibly be the root of the Arabic word. Whether the association with an an act of fornication with an idol-worshipping foreigner from Midian is significant I will let others decide.
"They" didn't copy the Torah and The Bible (the Quran also does not copy or make mention of "The Bible"). You can't copy a religion that is from the same God. God doesn't copy himself; the Quran is not the speech of any man or the Muslims. It's God's direct speech.
In reference to the issue of baldness, or shaving your head before going to the Temple, that was part of the Nazirite vow mentioned in the book of Numbers (6.1-21). It is probably also the reason Paul shaved his head before leaving Cenchrea in Acts 18, and is the reason he shaved his head in Acts 21. The Nazirite vote was to be completed by making an offering at the Temple in Jerusalem. As part of the Nazirite vow, you had to give up alcohol, or any fermented food, for the duration of your vow. Abstinence from alcohol in Islam could have come from this, as well.

On the subject of arks, there was a tradition in Egypt where on a God's special day of festivities worshipers took the idol on a circuit around the temple. It was like a parade. In modern times on Sunday after or before church the day when the shoppes were closed it was not uncommon for people to walk in a circuit around main street dressed in their finest clothes, tipping their hats at people they found to be respectable. I was in Marrakesh in the late 80's and while the people there were Muslim they had the same tradition. In Canada they called it Young Street. This walking in a circuit around the temple in parade is just natural to humans.

Yes, they are a bit confused about the relationship between Hebrew gimel and Arabic Jeem, but that is because they are all theologians rather than linguists. The actual relation is the same between P in Latin an F in English in the following words: _pater_ and _father,_ or _pes_ and _foot._ This relation in Semitic languages is that much stronger given the central place of triliteral roots in the Afroasiatic family. There are several roots which are clearly related but a Hebrew/Aramaic _gimel_ corresponds to an Arabig _jim_ (for example, the word for "camel" is transliterated _kamal_ in Hebrew but _jamal_ in Arabic). @Pfander Films, you should probably try the specialist word "cognate" to refer to the relation between Hebrew _gimel_ and Arabic _jim._

(Page 10) This suggests that Aramaic was the language and culture of Christianize Arabs. Since Arabic was not a written language by this time, its stands to reason that the Koran is a collection of the liturgies and teachings of Christianize Arabs, which was later compiled and redacted to fit the political and religious agenda of early Arab rulers in the 8th -10th century. Nazirites shaved their heads in the Outer Temple in Jerusalem when they came to make three sacrifices as they ended their time of abstinence from grapes and grape products and had let their hair grow. When Jewish women get married, they circle around their bridegroom seven times anticlockwise, in commemoration of Joshua and Jericho (see www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/586014/jewish/A-Mans-Deepest-Secret.htm). It is clear, as an orthodox Jew myself, that many ideas that made their way into Islam came from Judaism. Eg not eating pork, a special form of animal slaughter akin to but not exactly the same as Jewish shechitah, 5 prayers a day - there are 5 prayers for Jews on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement when Jews normally wear white as well, as opposed to 3 prayers on normal days and 4 on Shabbat and Jewish holidays. Seems that Islam was kind of an amalgamation of various concepts - usually in an altered or variant form from Judaism, ideas from monophysite and post-Roman Christianity including the nascent Quranic texts, concepts of holiness from the site of the Jewish Temples (why the Dome of the Rock was plonked on top of the Holy of Holies), the Nabatean previously pagan city of Petra, all mixed together in one new Islamic pot under the Abbasids to retain power, create a new cohesive belief system in the recently conquered huge Arab empire and to get taxes to keep it going. You need to get baptised into the name of God, The Father, God The Son, God The Holy Spirit, who is The One and Only Triune GOD; and cut all relationships with other gods. Worship Almighty GOD and Him alone.
Must go now.
GOD Bless,
see you in Heaven, Hopefully.

Another possible Hebrew origin of the word "Kabba":
I noticed this when I was reading the weekly Parshah, Balak, last week.
"her")
Unkelos's translation of the word "qabah" is "qubatha", same root, but actually the hebrew is closer to the Arabic "qaba" than is the Aramaic.
That's brilliant!
Thanks Garrett, well spotted!

This walking in a circuit around the temple in parade is just natural to humans.

in Arab their is "Jeem=J or G" and their is also the completely different letter "Gahayn = pronounced from throat"

If it is a place of worship when you're going to Jerusalem, it would start making sense to build such a temple almost in nowhere land. It is not associated with a big city I heard of. seems the Quran has preserved the site of the original Mekka مكه , namely Bakka ىكه > Beka. which happens to indicate some kind of (at least partial) oral tradition, which made it impossible to change that one verse. same for Ahmad and Muhammad.
Can we bring our jewish brothers into this research we can all collaborate.
All are welcome. Joe will be coming on soon..
@@Speakers154 so we have sorted out the problem and we are collaborating now. Good news
If some father today told the police that God made him kill his only son I'm thinking that wouldn't hold up in court
I think you guys are missing one thing ! . You have not investigated Kadija and where she came from and what her commision was. ! ! ! Check it out. !
Spill the beans Kevin! Kadija is trending right now!
@@Bytheirfruitsshall sir I will refer you to a Man who has made many videos and it cost him his life to do so. He goes into great detail about how Islam was created for military conquest and he names all the caracters involved and why it happened. I sent a message to Hatun recently about it, I havent heard if she has watched it, but she is very busy and the videos come from Chic publications. The video has so much infomation from Christian perspective as well as Islamic perspective, I have watched it many times and it is not a recent video. I dont remember exactly when it was, but maybe 1990's. Go check Chic publications. I downloaded it onto my PC many years ago.
@@kevinunderwood9980 Chick Publications l found right away. Unfortunately it's very controversial. If you have a more academic lead?
The Kaaba is a rectangular prism. The word cuboid can be confusing to many who think it's just a fancy word for cube.
Here are some examples of their plagiarism:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_legends_in_the_Quran
They also copied a lot from the Mishna.
Here is *one topic I wish more Critics would investigate* Was Muhammad one false Messiah, since religious Jews today are still awaiting one political human last prophet of God the Messiah who shall come. Since for the Jews say that Jesus was not this Messiah, they are still looking out for his arrival *and this hope could be misused* if the situations would be correct for it to happen. And yes there are clues in the Islamic sources that this may have happened.
It is cent percent true, from very fst word or sentence they utter is same like, "Shalom Aleichem" to 'Salem alekum', what else we can say about plagiarism of islam, do they have any own word than copying Judaism.
and still I have believe islam is true religion. Rubbish...
Busted again lol, the internet is the death of islam!
It appears that there has never been an original thought out of Islam. Everything is a copy of some other religion.
Hello Dr. Jay and Mel, here is Indonesian translation of this video: ON9hI1sl8Uc.
Great video as always.
Jesus bless both of you.
Great! I will share it!

@@lyglo_apologetics I hope I can do something in September.
I pray for your continued success in exposing this fraud, brethren and I put my money where my heart is - in support of your ministry.
And was the revealing of the Quran to Mohammed in the cave copied from Shimon bar Yochai and the Zohar in the cave?
@mysotiras10 Frankly, I don't know a lot about this, and would like to hear your perspective, if you wouldn't mind sharing.
Point of "translation" (for the folks in the U.S. Anti-clockwise is, of course, pronounced, counterclockwise.
Stop apeasing the yanks .
Ok, just a minute. I don't get the Kaaba point. Yes, there was a cube in the original Jewish temple, but that temple was destroyed more than a thousand years before Islam was born. So I don't see how it could have inspired the idea of the Kaaba.
Wait there is a follow up. All shall be revealed!
Come on muslims don't just ignore this information, give us some sensible answers and don't just cry out liar liar.

Narrated Anas:
There was a Christian who embraced Islam and read Surat-al-Baqara and Al-`Imran, and HE USED TO WRITE (the revelations) for the Prophet. Later on he returned to Christianity again and he used to say: "Muhammad knows NOTHING but what I have written for him."
