Would a 2 parts 5 minutes epoxy mix sold in hardware stores be better than nail polish to seal off exposed cut parts ? Any other recommendations ?

In response to Bob abouts question on best clamping method to a workstand. Remove seat post and replace it with a long steel or aluminium seat post just for maintenence work and use that as a clamping point. Don't clamp carbon frames or seat post.

so if I cut my steerer and didn't seal it about 3000mi ago on a bike I ride everyday in all weather would it be wise to seal it now or would I be trapping moisture inside?

Who makes the best carbon frames in your opinion these days ?

I would like to see a mountain bike gets cutout, kind of curious as the construction differences and how some of the weird geometry of a full suspension with all them bushings and pivots play in composite design. Thanks.

When replacing the cables on my carbon road bike I looked through the cable hole and noticed some carbon peeling off from the inside How should I glue this down or is it ok to be left as it is ?

Hey Raoul, it’d be great to know what surface protection product you recommend that would be readily available to the general public - I can’t find too much on the topic. Thanks mate.

So do you use a specific product? or recommend one other than nail polish? Could have used this info in the video.

Hey Raul. Could you please comment Alto's test they made with destroying carbon clinchers. Do you think it's possible or whats your opinion?

Regarding your comment about the paint or lacquer protecting against moisture, what about the inside of the frame? The seat tube of my old bike used to fill up with water as the BB shell was an Al tube bonded into the frame so the seat tube was closed at the bottom. If you shook the bike you could hear the water sloshing around in there! Also, when I got my current bike I had the choice of a matt frame with blue accents (so no lacquer) or a gloss frame with red accents. I preferred the blue so went with the matt frame, did I make the right decision?

I would have expected that myself but Raoul specifically said that the paint or lacquer protects from moisture entering the frame material. He has said that the resins are porous too which would be the point of entry for moisture. Having standing water inside the frame would be more problematic if this was the case. When I discovered that my old frame held water I would drain it now and again but as it happened more during winter months (wetter roads and more bike washing), leaving it in the sun wasn't really viable!

Can anyone tell me if mounting a carbon fibre bottle cage to an alloy frame will cause galvanic corrosion on my alloy frame?

when working on RC cars, with carbon fibre edges exposed we commonly used super glue... is that ok?

Yeah I used to seal carbon bits on the rc cars years ago when I raced nationals and clubs... would be interested if it's ok on bike stuff?

I have used super glue on several cut steer tubes and for fiberglass repair. I'm not a polymer chemist or anything, but it seems to work. I also use it on cut shifter and brake cables instead of ferrules, sometimes that allows me to re-use the cable.
