I think that if you are the best at your job you deserve the best pay, if you are good enough you deserve good enough, idk why these QBs have so much leverage, it shouldn’t be simple they get what they deserve, tua deserves like 50 mil at best
@@Zeus-vi5zk idk how you don't understand why the have so much leverage. They're the most important position on the field lol. Not a single team with a bad QB has won a superbowl since Trent Dilfer.
I understand paying these players money. How about give any QB 25 million guaranteed and if they want to get paid $50, give him $25 million in incentives. Make them earn the other so it's not such a big cap. Hit if they don't play well
Tua's biggest issue is that we haven't had an OLine crack the top HALF much less Top Ten of the league in TWENTY YEARS. Tua took ju-jitsu classes so he could learn "how to fall", he was THAT SHOOK. Ryan Tannehill was the most sacked QB in the league TWO YEARS IN A ROW while he was here, we crippled him both developmentally and physically. He then moved to Tennesee and brought them to the Conference Finals coming in ~one-third through the season. OLine>QB>Defense... THEN you can focus on the rest of your team!
Yup, you are absolutely correct because if all of those said categories are solid and productive it would almost guarantee you a playoff spot at the end of the season.
@JKLauderdale You know when your quarterback isn't worth top of the market money? When you have to name ALL of the other things he needs to be perfect to win you a superbowl!
I mentioned we need an offensive line before we focus on the QB. My exact closing statement was "OLine>QB>Defense... THEN you can focus on the rest of your team!" and I stand by it. So yeah all of those ONE SINGLE things... I'm going to assume reading comprehension was never your strong suit?
@JKLauderdale My point was most fan bases fool themselves by making excuses like if my qb just had this or that. You're Oline example is perfect. Joe Burrow was sacked more than any qb in the league the year he led his team to a superbowl. That shows he's a force multiplier and worth top of the market money. BTW I agree with the concept of building the line first. That is a very sound approach.
Idk isn't Mahomes not even making 50m a year? They shouldn't be asking more than him if they can't beat him. That's why they all lose Mahomes keeps taking pay cuts but no other QB is.
@@zion9247 Negative. There’s another qb taking pay cuts for his team but the others literally just got their contracts so who know what they will do regardless Mahomes is not the only one.

Yea, but on the other hand, just because one team does something stupid doesn't mean everyone else is obligated to follow suit. If my neighbor pays $100 million for a Toyota, that doesn't mean I'm suddenly placing a higher market value on Toyotas.
Daniel joins gets cut after this year. His deal has a soft way out. Jalen Hurts could be the only veteran QB in the NFC East in 26. Then the Eagles will be at a supreme disadvantage with Jalen hitting higher and higher cap hits. I say draft a QB first round ride his contract if things look good franchise tag him one year but then let them go and draft another. Smaller market MLB teams do this with pitchers.
With Mike calling plays and the best Wr duo in the league , paying Tua what he expects would be a franchise killer and this team would never make it to the super bowl.

The forerunner of this was how Brady handled contract negotiations with the Patriots. His thinking led to the all the Super Bowl rings, becoming the GOAT, and building over a half billion $ net worth. Brock Purdy just might take this approach in his contact negotiations next year. He is well grounded and thinks long term. If I’m right, and if Purdy stays healthy, the Niners will be very good for the next 10-15 years.

@@vinnievinnie-sj5kr I don't like comparing playoff records in this case to say one guy is better than the other and here is why. Tlaw's playoff victory came at home against one of the worst coached teams in recent memory in a game where he threw 4 interceptions. Tua's playoff loss that wasn't even close was also on the road against Patrick Mahomes. And it would be absurd to use losing on the road against Mahomes in the playoffs as the reason Miami shouldn't pay Tua similar money to Tlaw because Tlaw wouldn't win that game either
The owners are looking into making the QB's contract seperate from the salary cap. If they are heading towards 60 mil per season then that would be the smart move
i dont think there should be a seperate salary cap. a qb can either choose to take more money and either risk being let go by their team or end up with no supporting cast and risk catastrophic injuries or take less, have more supporting cast, more superbowl wins, more endorsements. the nfl is already protecting qbs. what more do they want? i feel the salary cap is what keep the nfl competitive. if peyton manning wanted 100m you either pay him and let him play with no support, or let him go. but with no qb salary cap u can keep your star qb with no reprocussions.
So the NFL will reward teams that made crappy QB deals and punish teams that did not. Its gonna be a hard no for many owners. Those type of rule changes require a super majority vote.
No drama in Miami folks. Tua will be in Miami, if the franchise wants him to be there, for at least the next year on the rookie contract and possibly the next 3 with a franchise tag. No real pressure to get the deal done.
i love tua. all im saying is that we won a game without tyreek waddle stepped up and did what we knew he could do but every game without tua we lost except one game
Look at SF. Paid their QB 900k and made it to the Super Bowl with a superstar cast. Tua is not worth big bucks and the Dolphins would benefit from pivoting from him either in the draft or with someone young and unproven. Paying him big bucks would result in the similar thing in NY with the giants. He didn’t show up in big moments Looked mediocre when Tyreek wasn’t in or injured Flubbed in the playoffs The contract talks with the dolphins reflect that and I’m sure they feel the same
Eh, Miami can win regular season against average to below average teams. But come playoff time those teams are all home their season is over. Now the teams left are the best that year. Not a good sign for Miami. Plus it's cold most places in December and January and Tua does not play well in the cold. But hey pay the man, it might cost you Hill but hey he's used to that.

Miami didnt even make a play for Watson when he became available, and nothing has changed in Miami. It was just another example of how BFlo tried to sabotage Tua's career.
If Goff is making 53M a year, Tua should make around that much. The argument of "Tua's only that good because of the team around him" is so dumb because you can say that about guys like Burrow, who had Higgins/Chase/Boyd/Mixon, as well as Goff, who has a top 3 O-Line, Amon-Ra, and LaPorta. We also saw Goff's previous head coach Sean McVay give up an extra 1st round pick TO GET RID OF HIM. No matter how bad people think Tua may be, it's never gotten to a point where his coach thinks that lowly of him where they'd have to give an extra 1st rounder to dump him. It seems people are penalizing Tua and using the "He's only good because of the team around him" narrative because they saw him look bad when he was playing behind a bottom 3 OL and throwing to Devante Parker, Jakeem Grant, and Albert Wilson. I'm sure if guys like Goff, Lawrence, or Burrow were in that situation, they would also look mid. Personally, prior to free agency I was thinking Tua should be paid around 45M a year, but I also thought he'd deserve that amount of money because Lawrence and Goff would be paid around there. But since Goff is making 53M, market value would be that Tua gets paid around the same. If my Dolphins decide they don't want to make the same mistake the Lions did though, I'd understand.
If you think of most current QBs with Brady being a big exception since he never had amazing OL or weapons, they are all unfairly over or under hyped by supporting cast.

Average fans don’t understand pre snap reads and the processing component of the game. It’s the same reason people keep thinking Lamar is an MVP, and Purdy and Tua are mid. People said all the same stuff about Brady through his first five years. “Game manager on an amazing team”, etc. Any QB who can have a 2:1 TD:INT with over 4500 yards is a stud. As a huge dolphins fan I’m annoyed they didn’t do it as the season ended with felt like this was gonna be a problem, I wanted him to be paid first so everyone else can over pay everyone else
Don't think they needed to do it when the season ended, although they probably could have gotten a better deal. However, they should have done it before all the other QBs started signing. Just bad business strategy!
I am a dolphin fan too, but it will be hard to pay him that much for a guy that has only played one full season and you would lose the ability to pay for good oline man because Tua is taking up almost a quarter of the salary cap.

When the star face-of-the-franchise goes down and the season is a wash, the front office takes that into account. I'm a Seahawks fan, and we just got done with a situation just like this with Jamal Adams. The dude was FANTASTIC when he was on the field, but he's never played a full 16-17 game season his entire career and he's NEVER been available during the playoffs. We were paying him star QB money to go to rehab. In the end we ended up cutting him loose after three years and eating the last year of his contract. I'm NOT saying that Tua should be cut. I'm not saying he doesn't have it in him to be a top 5 QB. But the facts speak for themselves: He has never won a playoff game. And if any team is gonna pay a dude 60 million a year, that is simply one of the criteria. What I think the 'Fins need to do is offer Tua a two-year prove-it-or-lose-it deal predicated on playoffs performance. Mahomes has earned that pay raise and Tua has not.
It’s lame but NFL fans and media are just going to have to accept that quarterbacks are now getting paid WAY more for doing way less. This overpaying WILL continue until it starts backfiring.
These kinds of problems are exactly why NFL teams should develop players in developmental leagues. They could just pay the QB salary of a guy in the UFL, have him develop so he's ready for the NFL. It's actually cheaper in the long run.
The NFL desperately needs a legitimate developmental league. It’s about to really find that out with the shakeout of college football. With that in mind I would go so far as to say that it should be concurrent league so that the NFL can use it the same way that the NBA does the G-League and the NHL does the AHL.
Players can take only so many hits. You'll wear out the players in a developmental league. If they're not good enough, they're not good enough. College football is the developmental league. Hits aren't as hard compared to the pros.
No one needs to debate whether somebody deserves the money they get if they get the money they get. That's the money they deserve.F*** out of here with discussing. If somebody should get money
Mahomes will reset the market...downward. If you are not a FOR REAL top 5 QB, you will not be getting top money. QB contracts will be tiered in a 5 or 6 level approach.
Haters will ALWAYS move the goal post... TUA could win the SB and fans will still nit-pick stupid stats like "turnover worthy" throws. We finally have a good QB and now we don't wanna pay him -- If he was 6'5, mobile, and had a rocket-arm, no one would question it -- but we'll thumb our collective noses at ascending results -- GTFOH
This whole concept of “Next guy up,” is stupid for quarterbacks. They always talk about “Market Value,” like they’re crablegs at a seafood market. Their not-QB’s are cars. You have 1 or 2 Ferraris, 1 or 2 Daewoo’s, and a whole bunch of reliable pickup trucks. You can make an F-150 have Ferrari horsepower, but you have to put a whole lot of money in it to do it. If you spend a Ferrari budget on your truck, then you can’t get the supercharger, the better tires, the premium gas. These owners need to tell these guys, “Hey-we’ll pay you what you’re worth, but you’re not worth Mahomes money or Burrow money unless you can give us Mahomes and Burrow results…” As for whether or not he’d do well outside of McDaniel’s system, well-this isn’t Purdy. We’ve seen Tua without Mike McDaniel. He was…”Fine.” That’s not worth resetting the market.
I’d pay tua somewhere between 42-49 million. According to the market, he’s better than Kyler Murray(46.1m) and Deshaun Watson(46m), but I’d say worse than Jalen hurts (51m).
Should have drafted a “back up” (Hawk Tua’s replacement.) I don’t think tua’s worth it. He’s 1-3 concussions away from retirement. Tua’s good but those concussions devalued him. I would risk it. I would get a young developmental qb and have him learn from Tua. Tag him then cut or trade…. No disrespect to Tua but CTE is real.
Sorry, Tua is only worth $45M - $50M/yr tops. I think he's worth closer to $45M right now, but over time, $50M is fine for 4-5 years. Teams don't have to keep paying players more & more. It handicaps their ability to improve their rosters. 20% of the cap is enough for the top QBs. Lesser QBs should make less than that. Tua is not at that level. IMO.
Who the hell thinks or even considers giving Tua 60 Mill a year? He's prob worth a maximum $10.00 and thats me being generous. He's nothing crazy but a more skilled Mark Sanchez. If i was him, i would just go the Darren Waller route and make a "rap" song bout why i should be payed 60 mill.
They should all get paid 3 Billion dollars a season even the punters after all they can play FOOTBALL. All of these guys need mansions and summer and winter mansions too. They also need sports cars and luxury vehicles as well and why not they can play FOOTBALL. Let 70% of the people on this earth suffer with nothing and barely even afford to feed themselves as that is ok because these guys can play FOOTBALL !!
Tua has never won a playoff game yet we're supposed to kiss his feet gtfoh. Besides last year he's never managed to stay healthy. If Tua is on a different like the Bills they'd be a 9-8 team. Stop acting like Tua is some god when he hasn't even won a playoff game yet.
No QB is worth the contracts they’ve been getting, That being said Tua is a phenomenally accurate QB, arguably the most accurate QB in the league. Yes having Hill and Waddle makes ANY QB’s easier but to say Tua wouldn’t be successful on a different team in a different system is laughable. EDIT* I think if they offered Tua a 5 year 200mill fully guaranteed deal he would sign it.
Based on performance, NO player in the NFL should make more money than Patrick Mahomes. The notion that EVERY time a QB gets a contract it needs to reset the market is stupid and unsustainable. Here's the problem. If your QB isn't as good as Mahomes but makes more than him, you are going to be at a financial disadvantage to the NFL's current dynasty. The way to overcome that is to draft really well, but the problem there is the Chiefs draft really well, so you'll have to outdraft the Chiefs every year, which is possible, but since the Chiefs are really good at it, the margin for error is slim. The problem is, you have to do that just to close the gap from overpaying your QB. The absurdity of QB contracts right now makes having a QB on a rookie QB is a cheat code because you can stack the roster when your QB is cheap which makes drafting a QB instead of overpaying a veteran an attractive option, especially if you haven't been able to beat the Chiefs with a QB who has been on his rookie contract. Mahomes is good enough to overcome losing players like Tyreek Hill and win back to back Superbowls without him. I have doubts that Tua could thrive the same way without Hill and/or Waddle.
If u wanna be like the Chiefs ,u have to do what the Chiefs do They invested in a supercharger and Engine first .. Ironically they decided not to pay Ty Hilll Let alone pay a 2nd WR Ty Hill. Level $$$.The Fins are all about big rims and flashy paint jobs..Now they're shipping at scrapyards to try to put an engine together..Bad Recipe
Why did you delete ur response @mikerophone ?? “Goodie 4 you 🎉🎉” lol is it cuz you realized Tua has basically the same stats and more playoff appearances than the beloved Herbert? And tuah does in fact deserve top tier QB $ ???? 😂
Is Too the product of a system ? Haven't we heard this before ? Isn't Tom Brady the product of a system ? ALL players are the product of a system, the system of the team their on, their coaching, their teammates, the management...
As a true (but honest) Dolphins fan here, I feel like you have to pay Tua. No, he will never be Patrick Mahomes. But also, as we saw when Skyler Thompson was inserted into our offense, you can’t just put anyone in there and expect him to easily win games as well as to lead the league in passing yards like Tua did. To his credit also, he played in every game last year and took note of his injury proneness from the year before. I think Tyreek’s support is also important as if Tyreek truly wanted another quarterback, I think that decision would’ve already been made. Not to mention, while still losing in the playoffs last year, we lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion on the road, and arguably the toughest Home crowd environment in -30° weather. Hard to put that ALL on Tua. While the idea of letting him play out his rookie contract, not extending him, and then drafting a unproven rookie in the draft sounds all well and good. It’s too much of a risk to do and the smarter option is to just pay him instead.
I would love to see an NFL team with the balls to say, NOPE! Try somewhere else! And I wish & pray my Cowboys would be the 1st to do it. I think with the exception of the truly elite, Mahomes, Burrow, these 2nd tier QBs would be shocked to see that no one will pay them want they think they deserve. Teams have put themselves in a self imposed trap, falsely thinking they MUST pay!
If they sign Tua back they can forget about ever winning a Super Bowl in the near future. I’ve watched a lot of dolphins games, he’s a mediocre QB that’s surrounded by a crazy amount of talent
This video is just idiotic. It is. The Dolphins are not like the Chargers and Packers who can string together good QBs like they come off an assembly line. This organization have been cursed in the QB department since Marino left. Behind Tua, there is darkness and uncertainty. They're going to pay him if the GM values his job.

@JKLauderdale My point was most fan bases fool themselves by making excuses like if my qb just had this or that. You're Oline example is perfect.
Or teams can stop overpaying their unproven QB’s.
So the NFL will reward teams that made crappy QB deals and punish teams that did not. Its gonna be a hard no for many owners. Those type of rule changes require a super majority vote.

@@Phinaddict305 the 2 seasons Joe Burrow did play, he went to the AFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl. That's why his injuries are tragic yet not indicative of his skill. Tua's injuries are just more reasons not to like him since he has never won a playoff game and helped choke away the AFC East crown last season.
Tua is not the guy.
The dolphins have a bottom 5 oline, and McDaniel schemes the offense to get the ball out quickly to hide the bad oline play. Tua has one of the fastest releases in the NFL, and is perfect for this system. No chance they move on
Purdy is better
Tua has done more to deserve a big contract than some of the others. He’s earned it more than Trevor Lawrence ass.
Of the recent contracts it should go like this
Burrow
Goff
Herbert
Lamar
Jalen
Tua
Lawrence
Man he sucks sign and trade him
I dont think it would be that hard to replace him or find someone better. He's good but not great and limits their ceiling. Been saying this since 2020
If it wouldn't be that hard then teams like the Jets, Browns, and Bears would've left QB purgatory a long long time ago.

Better vision. Faster release. Herb can throw the ball further… that’s it. Look, the No Fun might as well be called 'Darwin's Monopoly'. Lost games due to injury count just as much and INT/TD ratios do, man.

Develop deez, and go read a book lames
Players can take only so many hits. You'll wear out the players in a developmental league. If they're not good enough, they're not good enough. College football is the developmental league. Hits aren't as hard compared to the pros.

Mahomes will reset the market...downward. If you are not a FOR REAL top 5 QB, you will not be getting top money. QB contracts will be tiered in a 5 or 6 level approach.
How much is that per minute of play time? Per pass? Per TD. Per INT?!?!? 😂. Kids game played for enjoyments of grownups. Funny.
I think the comments filled with bots. Read some them and see. Bots or boomers.
These owners need to tell these guys, “Hey-we’ll pay you what you’re worth, but you’re not worth Mahomes money or
Burrow money unless you can give us Mahomes and Burrow results…”
As for whether or not he’d do well outside of McDaniel’s system, well-this isn’t Purdy.
IMO.
I think DALLAS is going to do that with Dak. Let him walk as 🐥 as Jerry is, or doesn't want to get burned like he did with Zeke.
Thats why they traded for Trey Lance,if dak walk.
@@polopolo8105Is there any proof Lance can beat out Cooper Rush?
Who the hell thinks or even considers giving Tua 60 Mill a year? He's prob worth a maximum $10.00 and thats me being generous. He's nothing crazy but a more skilled Mark Sanchez. If i was him, i would just go the Darren Waller route and make a "rap" song bout why i should be payed 60 mill.
They should all get paid 3 Billion dollars a season even the punters after all they can play FOOTBALL. All of these guys need mansions and summer and winter mansions too. They also need sports cars and luxury vehicles as well and why not they can play FOOTBALL. I can't stand the Tua hate....😒
Dolphins can of course cut TUA send Jacksonville draft compensation for MAC JONES
If u wanna be like the Chiefs ,u have to do what the Chiefs do They invested in a supercharger and Engine first .. Ironically they decided not to pay Ty Hilll Let alone pay a 2nd WR Ty Hill.
Ask them “are you Patrick Mahomes”… no?! Okay then. Have fun with your next team. Because if you cant win in playoffs then maybe the next guy can.
