If Arch was actually better than Quinn this year, Sark would’ve named him the starter. Quinn’s been the starter since spring. Arch is the future. Quinn is the present.
I believe he meant to say, "this isn't the first time THE former 5-star recruit has struggled at the collegiate level", because he then goes on to name a couple other games where Ewers struggled.
Honestly, I’m not shocked that Quinn decided to come back. I don’t think he would’ve been a first round pick because he can never stay healthy during the season. If he stays healthy this year, he will be a first round pick for sure.
With NIL, I think we will see this more and more with QBs in good positions at big programs. He’s still getting millions, and has another year to enjoy the college life as a star.
It is nonsensical to even think that they will bench a healthy Ewers unless he loses to Michigan and FAT CHANCE of that. Things are going exactly as planned for Arch Mannings development. He’s not going anywhere either.
@@That_guy305to50it would make zero sense to Arch to transfer now; if he was going to, it would have been immediately after the season ended. He knows he’s the starter next year at Texas and by all accounts, he loves it there. It’s not like he can transfer now and then start week one or even week 10 at say LSU or Alabama.
Quinn Ewers is a Junior this year. I don't know if he'll come out after this year? Although, if he the Longhorns do really well again (there's no reason to think they won't), I could see him come out before his senior year. Ewers is compared to Baker Mayfield, and I believe he has the skillset to succeed at the next level. Certainly, a quarterback needy team will draft Ewers and give him a chance to start and prove himself in the NFL. I believe Arch Manning has a higher ceiling than Ewers. Manning's got good command under center, he's a field manager, good vision and awareness in the pocket, he's got quick feet and he can escape defenders and make plays on the run, and he's got a strong arm and can make any throw. He's been compared to Andrew Luck.
Nobody that understands football was mocking him top 10 , this is from a Texas fan. If he balls out this year he’ll be one of the first 3 Qbs off the board
I'm a Texas fan and graduate. Quinn is our starter this year, period. Outside of injury, Arch won't start. Boosters at UT pushed for Arch to start early, but Quinn earned and deserves the starter position. Hopefully Quinn will show out this year and move onto the NFL, then it's Arch's time to shine.
Next week we will see Texas go into Michigan and see Ewers lay the smack down on the wolverines in their own house, just to clarify there isn't any QB controversy just to set the record straight both QB"s know their role and if you think you can win a national title without two QB's you don't understand the new format 17 games thats what it will take to win the national title now, most teams haven't figured this out.yet this has gone from the two best teams playing for a title to the two teams that can with the least amount of key injuries and being able to put players in those positions, we got 2 QBs we. Can lose one and still win a title how many other contenders can lose their starter and be in the 17 game endurance contest? Welcome to the new format if it ain't broke you shouldn't try to fix it
The NCAA made the wrong decision when going to this format so can't change it so it's about adapting to and the only team I've seen adapting to it is Texas
Ewers would NOT have been a top-10 pick in last years draft. He was projected by most analysts as a 2nd - 3rd rounder and the 6th or 7th QB taken. While his stats in short and intermediate passing was solid, he was TERRIBLE in passing over 20 yards (about 20% completion rate). He smartly decided to come back and work on his weaknesses.
This is the most talked about "issue" from people who are not familiar with Texas football. Im a season ticket holder, Arch is not leaving, Quinn was always going to stay, all is well here in Austin
Quinn definitely gambling his life away. If he declared last year he could’ve gotten drafted but as a back up most likely. Staying another year and playing great could pencil him in as a top pick if Texas rolls in the SEC. But…. If Texas doesn’t do so well in the SEC and Quinn doesn’t truly break out then he could be un drafted just like that.
Fake news!!! Arch is right where he wants to be. All he needs is 1 decent season at Texas and he's a 1st round pick with virtually no wear and tear on his body. It's the exact opposite situation of Shadeur Sanders who is taking alot of hits to go in the 1st round.
Yeah but how much wear and tear does a college QB actually experience? It's not like he's a RB. I would contend that any wear and tear he would get is well worth it based on the experience he would gain. Being a 1st round pick and being a successful NFL QB are two different beasts.
He needs to stay on the field. If AM gets onto the field for any reason, it’s probably over foe QE. That said, I hope QE has a banner year. AM’s time will come soon enough.
He’s making millions at Texas. Why not milk it for all it’s worth? Even if he is benched and his draft stock falls, he can just transfer, make more bank at another school, and have one more year to have a chance to develop and up his draft stock.
You are reading my mind.Im a grad of UT and what a great problem to have after all these years.Hopefully Ewers will spit it out this year grow as student of the game, proof he is what the hype says he is.QB is the hardest and when you have a Peyton behind you that looks like hes ready suck it up and go.Next year peyton will be more than ready.Choppin at the bit

I don’t think it’s much of an issue TBH. Manning sitting for another year gives him time to make the big jump from athletic teenager to a grown man a bit more. Him coming in to start Jr and Sr year is better for everyone.
If Texas is competitive in the Georgia game, then I'll believe in Ewers. However, I think Texas will not be as balanced as they were last year with their 2 running backs being out.
