As an Audi allroad driver I can readily see that this is VW's answer to the Audi allroad for those who can't can't or won't afford the Audi. Even the aluminium splash guards on the lower sides are copies from Audi allroad.
It hasn't got a permanent four wheel drive system. It has a Haldex type unit, which is basically a front wheel drive with help from the rears in case the fronts loose traction.
According to vw and many other sources it is a permanent awd system. Under normal driving conditions only a small amount of power is sent to the rest wheels, but the system is always active and capable of transferring power to each wheel as neededm
The store websites I looked on were for the whole of the UK; not region specific, PLUS this is a British video filmed in Britain, so they're hardly likely to go to mainland Europe just to get a bottle. Yes, they should specify the size of the bottle they're using but they never use anything anywhere near 2.5 litre. I know they exist; I used Google but not in the UK. The Audi A4 review & Skoda Fabia is around 1 litre.
"Its not really an offroader, you would have to go for a VW Amarok if that is what your after" ... Rebecca, in between these two there exists something called a VW Touareg - that one can do some offroad aswell..
Also the Skoda factory for Europe was designed as green, so it saves a lot of money to produce cars. And VW wanted a brand that shoul fill the market behind VW so that VW could become more premium brand. At least i think that is what they were trying to do. Maybe im wrong though
Extra long over hangs limit the off road ability of these cars, they are good for camping trips or some extra clearance in heavy fresh snow. But they are way better on fuel than SUVs and crossovers. And not so much compromise on handling.
Nope, just been on the websites of three of our (UK's) biggest supermarkets (ASDA, Tesco & Sainsbury) and none stock a 2.5l bottle. Two litre is the biggest and that is huge. I wouldn't expect to get that in any glovebox of any car. For journeys, I'd expect 750ml to be the biggest to reasonably expect to carry. I usually get a 500ml bottle.
+tweetie135 we do have the Superb but I do believe that at the time this video was filmed we did not have the Superb Outdoor Plus as that came out with the facelift Superb which is their equivalent to the Passat Alltrack
I don't talk about luxury, but quality of the engine! 1.9 TDi is beaten any other engine in the VW company.... Good economy, reasonably good power, maybe millions of km with a single engine, without serious repair.... If it is not a good quality what it is???
the alltrack does not have "permanant" 4wd, it is 95 or 90 in the front and 5 or 10 percent in the back, when the front wheels are spinning it sends power to the rear to maximum of 100 percent.
Please, don't compare it to an Amarok... It's like comparing it to an excavator. It's good for offroad for a car that low. I think it does not have any down sides
yes a vfm merc c class= skoda superband if a vfm audi a4=vw passat, i ve driven all of em, and although skoda a little tite in suspension makes up with great handling than Passat but the fact is none of these cars can atch a FORD MONDEO, brilliant car defenitely poor mans BMW, in fact i wud like a comparison between bmw 3 series and mondeo 2.2tdci
VW makes platform only. And actually Skoda made the Scout and VW copied it. There is cooperation both ways in VW group. Some engines for example were invented by Skoda and brought to some VW cars. VW has problems lately with upgrading and looses market in favour to Skoda in many countries.
well VW makes the design and everything for Skoda since they own it... So it is kinda stupid that VW copied from Skoda...It s like saying you stole from ur own money
But can it accommodate a banana too?How often do you go to ikea? People who can afford a car like this could or would probably have their furniture delivered & assembled for them. You say you can tow a caravan or boat, yet dont mention the maximum unbraked towing capacity! Better than an audi allroad? Im sure audi won't welcome comments like that steering customers away from VAG's premium product..
I don't think the bottle test has any validity whatsoever unless you use the same bottle in all tests. Making the same test with a different size bottle every time is just... silly?
i mean, come on! Why would anyone buy this? Better to buy an SUV, like Kia Sportage, for less money, and can probably go where this car can only dream of.
Matt always makes me laugh. Rebecca always makes me smile. Carbuyer always makes me happy! Oh joy...
As soon as these are available here in the states, Colorado will be full of these next to all the Outbacks. Which is good, this looks better.
I want this car in Canada and her with it!
There is something wonderfully alluring about this presenter. !!
Thanks for the info.
In Germany the cruise control is integrated into the indicator-lever.
my b6 is 7 years old and running strong - great car

It has 4Motion which is AWD! It's nothing like a Golf GTI PP with the differential.
is it cold in UK?? even in June??!
I never comment but ur good reviewer and i like ur reviews by Car dude
How many boots space got? It's more than Skoda Octavia State with 610 litters?
I love VW/Audi "all wheel" cars, they look strong.
The store websites I looked on were for the whole of the UK; not region specific, PLUS this is a British video filmed in Britain, so they're hardly likely to go to mainland Europe just to get a bottle.

It might sound a bit stupid, but what does the third lever on the left side of the steering wheel?

The second row is HUGE!
Extra long over hangs limit the off road ability of these cars, they are good for camping trips or some extra clearance in heavy fresh snow. But they are way better on fuel than SUVs and crossovers. And not so much compromise on handling.
that closing door sound,greeaat

Is this older video or its cold in UK even in June? Never mind the jacket, but long neck sweaters in june? Cant be THAT cold?
I think you should go with the VW on this one even if you can afford the Audi. Less money for a bigger car.
Does anyone know why there are no more V5 or V6 diesel engines in the Passat and the Passat Alltrack? Will they add them later?
I'd rather drive a Skoda Yeti than an Audi.
+tweetie135 we do have the Superb but I do believe that at the time this video was filmed we did not have the Superb Outdoor Plus as that came out with the facelift Superb which is their equivalent to the Passat Alltrack
Where on Earth do you get a 2.5 L bottle from? That's bigger than the std Coke/Lemondage bottle form the supermarket (they're 2.0 L).
i really enjoy your videos, but i must say, there is a fine line between offroading and driving down a graveled driveway
It's always cold apart from maybe a few weeks here and there
PEUGEOT 208 AND CITROEN C3 PICASSO REVIEW PLEASE
Is it always raining in britain?
What actually happens when you push the off road button exactly? Is it s suspension change or what?
It turns on 4x4 system.
the passat design is a bit dated now, but all the cosmetic changes does make it look pretty good have to say
hello could do a review on the new chrysler 300c 2012 model please
She's soooooo adorable.
direct competitor to the Subaru Outback? I think so!
You mustnt buy the amarok if you want a propper offroader, the touareg is also good offroading
That touchscreen is almost as small as you Reb.
As usual, most of us came here for the review and the girl instead of the car! :)
price ???
Skoda Superb is actually better to drive than the newest Passat where the suspension tuning has gone wrong.
I don't talk about luxury, but quality of the engine!
1.9 TDi is beaten any other engine in the VW company....
Good economy, reasonably good power, maybe millions of km with a single engine, without serious repair....
If it is not a good quality what it is???
It's hard to don't know that B7 is a facelifted B6.
well skoda is cheaper and the Superb for exp is like a a6 just way cheaper so it does make sense
West Europe has had really shitty weather :( We don't even have summer yet! It's been like 12 degrees. lol
the alltrack does not have "permanant" 4wd, it is 95 or 90 in the front and 5 or 10 percent in the back, when the front wheels are spinning it sends power to the rear to maximum of 100 percent.
So much rain in the UK!
Audi`s interior is very nice and the vw`s is pretty but let` s face it audi is class leader for built quality
What is the tow capacity you don’t actually say 🙄
I always thought they filmed from inside the car
Because most Americans hate wagons, we'll never get this car here. What a shame - it looks like a lot of fun.
Sweeeeet car and a very nice reviewer too.
Please, don't compare it to an Amarok... It's like comparing it to an excavator. It's good for offroad for a car that low. I think it does not have any down sides
lovely car i love it
Renault duster review would you mind plz Mat. thanks
What??? Only diesels?? The 2.0 TSI is also available...
No it isn't!
It is...
SIMcityplayer2002 are you British?
you forgot to mention you are 5'-4 1/2 tall :)
And says how many boots space got
Nice review, but more suv like subaru forester or outback, mazda cx-5 and some others.
Why dont u just buy a normal passat 4 motion than?
hmmm you got a point there a five year old audi is a new volkswagen:)
Yes.
You have a naughty and excited face when talking about the ride quality.
It's basically an Audi A4 All-Road but de-tuned
it just my dream car.
And the satnav only goes to Warsaw!
in summer we do it in pool, in autumn we do it in bath.
yes a vfm merc c class= skoda superband if a vfm audi a4=vw passat, i ve driven all of em, and although skoda a little tite in suspension makes up with great handling than Passat but the fact is none of these cars can atch a FORD MONDEO, brilliant car defenitely poor mans BMW, in fact i wud like a comparison between bmw 3 series and mondeo 2.2tdci
I agree!!!
Put one foot on each side of the transmission tunnel
I want this soooo bad in the US!
They didn't copy it from Skoda they copied it from Audi with their Audi A6 Alroad.
a4 actually.
Well , now you can compare that to an Audi A6 Allroad and the Volvo XC70 !!! ;)
VW makes platform only. And actually Skoda made the Scout and VW copied it. There is cooperation both ways in VW group. Some engines for example were invented by Skoda and brought to some VW cars. VW has problems lately with upgrading and looses market in favour to Skoda in many countries.
very cool indeed
Thank you. Keep it up.
style is subjective, but still if i could i would buy 508 rxh.
Skoda is their cheaper range, VW being the affordable quality range. and even then I think Audi can let you down with luxury in their lower models
well VW makes the design and everything for Skoda since they own it... So it is kinda stupid that VW copied from Skoda...It s like saying you stole from ur own money
I have one of these
Volkswagen Passat Alltrack versus Peugeot 508 RXH!!!!
And you felt for it
2:00 is it just me or is it raining INSIDE the car?
Volvo V40 please! :))
But can it accommodate a banana too?How often do you go to ikea? People who can afford a car like this could or would probably have their furniture delivered & assembled for them. Test Volvo XC70 2012!
and have an aggressive face when racing :)
Looks like the Audi Allroad for the U.S. (I know same family company just sayin!)
4:38 she agrees
German engineering!
I like Rebecca, I really do. She's a nice girl.
but if you cannot afford an audi volkswag is a great option
This Allroad....aaaa, i mean Alltrack is quite nice.
208!!! :)
That's UK.
8Th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They should really fit the third row of seats.
I don't think the bottle test has any validity whatsoever unless you use the same bottle in all tests. Making the same test with a different size bottle every time is just... silly?
Nice review though :o)
Rebecca Jackson.
god yes !! awful, awful clothes... a wardrobe change is a must for her !!
i mean, come on! Why would anyone buy this? Better to buy an SUV, like Kia Sportage, for less money, and can probably go where this car can only dream of.
