The four-wheel-drive A4 allroad quattro is a chunky looking car that blends the practicality of the A4 Avant executive estate and the traction of a 4x4. It gets jacked-up suspension and Audi's quattro four-wheel-drive system. It's only available as an estate, and offers just three engine choices. Neither BMW nor Mercedes-Benz offer direct competitors, but the Subaru Legacy Outback and Saab 9-3X offer similar appeal.

my aunt has been looking for a new wagon for 2 years now and she bought the Audi A4 Allroad a month ago AND SHE LOVES IT!!! she does biking, kayaking and skiing and its perfect for everything. i want one now
Dyflinn, I was about to completely agree about the size comparison to the XC70, but I did some research and learned that the xc70 lands about smack in between the A4 Allroad and the A6 Allroad. Both Allroads are about the same height, but the 70 is taller. A4 is 185.5" long, the 70 is 190" and the A6 is 195". The 70 is a bit more than an inch wider than the A4, but the A6 is yet another inch wider.
The XC70 seems to top both for volume in back - no doubt because of the height and the squarer compartment.
I don't think it is fair to compare the A4 Allroad boot space to the XC70.
A fairer comparison would be the A6 Allroad and XC70, they're a closer match car-size wise.
Haters gonna hate! I had an Audi, and loved the interior, one of the best there was. But wasn´t satisfied with it, for budget reasons went for a Volvo and like it very much. Not the car I desire, though, would love a C class...but I appreciate all the well designed details from european cars. I can´t talk anything negative about Audi except for a subjective opinion about stability of the car, but to each one its own. Germans know what they are doing in cars.

Ok, the Volvo xc70 dosent compet with the a4 allroad. The xc70 competes with the a6 allroad. The v60 cross country competes with the a4 allroad. The boot is barely different from the avant so why is it a complaint?

pickups are way more expensive to run and generally, unless you are a tradesman, in the UK, we don't really need pickups as much. I guess the argument with these cars is that they are a lot nicer to drive compared to a pickup and work better in the UK, but I get what you mean about this car being a bit pointless, you might as well get a small 4x4 if you are going to go off road or an estate car if you aren't
How are the reviews to short?

The Audi A6 Allroad is the size rival to the Volvo XC70 and Subaru Outback not this A4 version !!!
In your reviews it would be interesting if you gave the on the road price of the test car. As that one was really loaded with goodies to influence the testers.
I'll stick with my original Allroad, great second hand car !!!
They should try to make the plastic more appealing, maybe colouring it black would help.

What would you recommend between this and the A6 allroad?
Looks like you can play table tennis in the back, but apparently it's not so good at going off-road because it doesn't have the raising air suspension that the old one did.
Wauw! i did not read the title and only realized it was an A4 not A6 in the end scene. Nice ride if you can afford it and go skiing often. BTW she is a charmer ;)
I think you should get a corsa 1.2, we have one and they are pretty good!!

Please Rebecca,learn about different car classes becouse on 3:35 you said that is smaller than Volvo XC70. Volvo XC70 is not in class with A4 ! It´s in class with A6 Allroad !

They are off road cars that happen to be in the same price range. XC70 is not exactly a hardcore off road vehicle.
Quattro isn't just a system,but a whole division like AMG or the BMW M brand

You cant compare the x70 with the a4 allroad. Its rival is the a6 allroad which is much bigger and the subaru legacy was designed for families so it must to have a big boot because it doesnt excell on the other things.

There's no comparison.
USD65000 in Japan...you can buy 2 subarus for such a large amount of money but you know 1 audi doesn't drive twice as good as 1 subaru.

only problem with this car is the "hill" with the seats down.
I watch all of these videos and I think Rebecca's turned a corner with this review. Her delivery seemed less scripted and she flowed nicely even if she did sound a little like she had a cold.

The name. Companies today want to spice things up, and convince you that you are not driving an estate, but something cool, like a sportswagon, or a sports tourer. Basically, it's an estate with a fancy name.

Still prefer bmw 3 series X drive touring as you can have the normal SE, sport, modern, luxury and M Sport

You forgot to mention how how the VW passat alltrack is better than the audi A4 allroad as you mentioned your previous review. But the VW passat alltrack isn't a 3L , yet, according to your review of it, it can tow a caravan or boat? I missed the banana. Bring back tne banana! :-(

You can't compare this car with a Volvo xc70! The Xc has to be compared with the a6 all road !!

People buy this car in Portugal, to use it in good roads where there never is dirt, snow or gravel... What a shame.

A lovely car but the Skoda Superb Outdoor plus is better value and does pretty much what the Audi does.
but the superb is a a6 :)
Linu none of the Skoda Superb generations share any A6 platforms. The 2008 to 2013 FL superb are based on a "stretched" A5 Octavia chassis.

Whatever you do never ever buy French cars they are the worst to buy when it comes to reliability wise.....don't even think about purchasing a Renault Clio's

2) ford fiesta = same as above
3) vauxhall astra = cdti
4) vauxhall corsa = cdti
5) hyundai i20-i30= all are good
6) Honda civi = both is fine

3) Audi A3
4) BMW 1 series
5) Mercedes new a class

Indeed, there are waaay to much pointless cars on this planet. Now still some people think it might be good, cause they buy it. And ok they consume more diesel then ordinary cars , but you pay less road tax so its almost the same...
I h-h-hate the tall, '80's-style gear selector lever with its large silver 'clutch' button that sticks out like a sore thumb and you press to select a gear (except in the A8, whose lever has a different design). Audi, please, please do away with this design and I might just pop in at one of your dealerships... And why don't we have the option of a manual transmission on the A4 Allroad in South Africa? :-(
Since Audi has kept it, it must be for a very good reason, and Audi decisions are typically for good reasons. Two reasons I can think of: good usability, and safety.

Audi A6 C4 Dont think so? The A6 has always been substantially larger (length and weight) than any A4.
ventende A4 is wider (1841-1783 mm), little bit shorter (4721 - 4791 mm), higher (1495 - 1435 mm) and weight is quite same or even heavier (A4 1630 kg, A6 1470 to 1610 kg). So, I had right :P

A6 is bigger than the A4. That's kinda the concept.
