'The Heart Asks Pleasure' from 'The Piano' on an abandoned piano (Michael Nyman)
I found this piano under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was covered up, and had no seat with it, so I found a discarded chair in a pile of furniture nearby. I opened up the piano and discovered that around 8 notes were quite out of tune, so I used felt to patch them up as best I could. The next challenge was the sustain pedal - the mechanism was broken so I had to place a carefully chosen stick in there to make it work reliably. I decided to play this piece because the piano from the film 'The Piano' must surely have been in pretty rough condition too, so I thought it was fitting.

I am aware that some of the notes are out of tune - I did the best I could with the instrument!
Lol, it's a masterpiece!
maybe your next mission is to get all these pianos back in tune ;)
Its tune speaks to the life it has endured. Thank you for playing it.
i love detuned pianos, nowadays digital pianos are just too perfect, they resemble me factory of robots, while these wooden instruments they differ from each other slightly and this is what makes their soul and personality.
That actually doesn’t sound bad for a piano that lives outside. Great find.
There's a layer of beauty in those out of tune notes and you showed the world that old piano has some passion left in its keys bravo lara
I grew up hearing an old out-of-tune piano, so for me this sounds like home! Even better, really! 🎉❤
Pianos like these always have such a character about them, I love it. Thanks for playing Lara!
You found my piano!!! It must have fallen out of my pocket. I've been worried sick and looking for it everywhere! Thank you so much!!!!!!
You brought life back in that piano. 😀
I thought it sounded great, and the space looked great too. It looks like the pianos are put in public spaces for the public to enjoy, but for the public to enjoy pianos in public spaces you need pianists, so great work.
An abandoned grand piano? !!!!! Oh geez. Looks like it's still working or mostly working. I can see a couple of keys in the down position!
You should come and visit London when you get a chance Lara, there are two grand black piano one of them you can play at Kings Cross St Pancras Rail Station, Beautifully well played and Merry Christmas to you 💗💗
Beautifully played. An iconic song in the most iconic of locations.

The music from the piano under the bridge would echo a bit where it is?
Where is the mic placed? Sounds almost like it came from a recording studio. Amazing
There is a mic in each end of the keyboard!
❤💐💐💐💐🌸🤶
*whatttt....its in tune* 🤔
Too bad the piano was so terribly out of tune as she did amazing! Crazy thing is, I would've messed up so badly with it being out of tune. Lol.
I can’t hear out of tune. It is very important for public pianist to have a tone death audience.
Hah, that old dirty movie. Porn that women could enjoy. I liked it, since the story felt real even if the film was heavily explicit in it's voyeurism, but it used literally every character to shit on the reality of peace, harmony, and family (you know everyone's lives went to crap once the credits started to roll; lol). Uh, good performance; nice music.
I wouldn’t call the piano a dirty movie at all lol, it’s tame
As if typing on a phone isn't bad enough, I have to imagine how to navigate youtube's mysteriously prudish discussion rules.
Tame is relative so I can easily agree with that term depending upon what one compares, but "tame dirty" would still be dirty. Recalling a movie I watched thirty years ago to guide moral confusion: the movie's framer and main character both sexually fetishize cheating on an arranged marriage (that isn't even ever consummated) as super exciting, which is weird and not right, her "lover" just wants to bang her and has very little concern about her well-being, which the movie glosses over, her "husband", who doesn't have a physical-intimacy drive while somehow still having one, has his mysteriously deviant condition excitedly gazed upon by the movie as adding a fetishistic thrill for her "cu------ing" of it (as well as framing it as just plain being fetishistically interesting on it's own, which kind of baffled me), the young daughter revels in her wrongness of spying upon adults doing what she knows is wrong and the movie frames that as similarly exciting for the audience (combined with a sexual excitement we're supposed to have on her behalf which is a questionable way to look at a kid), and, finally, the husband then shows how much he cares about decency as his wrath-filled excitement chops off one of his revealed-to-be-lying wife's fingers (which is a tragic story, but which the movie creator also enjoys and offers as shocking entertainment), and all of this happens in a film that clearly wants to make the moral attitudes and circumstances of a historical time period simplistically fetishized for women to m-bate about. Though, the worst, as I already said previously, is how the film tries to use all of this basic luridness as an argument against valuing loyalty, family, and decency for being things that don't truly exist (apart from a weird ending where they go off smiling to "live and let live" while anyone with a brain can tell their lives will go on to have more dysfunction and struggle, but I guess not the sexually thrilling kind so the movie doesn't care), which is pretty dirty in and of itself. Oh, and not to mention, this is all repeatedly injected with needless, full frontal n-ty (with a nice helping of p-) that didn't serve the story besides bringing in additional viewers (like a young me) who just wanted to gratuitously see stuff like a physically fit Holly Hunter doing sexy things. I wouldn't call that tame for the movie industry at the time, and I wouldn't call that tame in comparison to the average serious movie even now (but, maybe I viewed it incorrectly or I'm mis-remembering?).
Isn't this boring?
Idk then why are you here?
