Siddious's advice on choosing a Sith apprentice is flawless. In training is where Siddious learned from his mistakes with each ones training, which is why none of them were perfect.
I had a Maul book, it said he started his training at 2 years old on Mustafar. One time he flinched when Sideous destroyed a training prove and he woke up to scores of blood parasites. By 10 he had spent 2 weeks on the surface with no help. His only positive source was a helper droid and a window to view the planets surface. And that’s before he even left the planet. By then Sideous only ever gave criticism and neutral comments.

Makes sense for rule of 2 sith. The apprentice you choose could determine the fate of the sith. Palpatine didn’t want a stronger apprentice because I’m pretty sure he thought of himself as the final, ultimate sith. But for someone earlier in the rule of 2 line, I’d think you’d want to pick the absolute best option
Palpatine almost got that worthy successor (first with Vader until Mustafar, then Galen Marek {“my equal, my successor” during the DS ending}, and eventually Luke Skywalker, as noted in both this video and a previous one about “recreating Vader with zeal”)
Yeah Sidious helped, but these guys already had broken potential. Anakin is the chosen one. Dooku could beat Windu even before being a sith. Maul was the son of the goddamn Nightmother, someone even Sidious feared.

Was about to comment this, Palpatine was not diligent enough to train someone from scratch he just got lucky because all of his apprentices were trained in full. As a result palpatine never really disclosed true sith secrets to any of his apprentices.

Sidious only trained Maul. The rest were molded and indoctrinated to the Sith Code. Sidious chooses students who descended by families or people powerful in the Force: The Skywalkers, Covens, Cults, Etc.

Legends had Masters and Apprentices working in secret for Sith in Darth Bane's Lineage, Canon has the apprentice screaming at Jedi to attack them.
“The Acolyte” is NOT the same as “the Apprentice”. Mae, aka the Acolyte, is nothing more than a tool to manipulate to accomplish one’s goal. To say that Mae would be a true apprentice during such a time is a delusion.

In Canon
1. Maul was suppose to be Sidious ultimate apprentice and possible successor being of the bloodline of Talzins line with a higher potential and higher IQ then his Mother and possibly Sidious too and Sids had the intentions of truly having Maul suceed him some day but all that went left field when Obi Wan sliced him up alive or not Maul still got crippled so grusumely that only Dathomir Magics could fix him for the most part at least.
2. Dooku was originally before Maul got handicapped meant to be a top tier acolyte it was only after Maul got bisected that Sids considered Yoda for apprentice position even if not a true one like pre failure Maul was then he discovered Anakin who had a count higher then everybody including a pre injured Mauls so Dooku was only meant to be temporary.
3. Anakin was meant to be his final apprentice then once Anakin got beat on Mustafar he changed his mind and tried to replace him with many candidates many times with only Luke able to best him although that was more because he was conflixted and holding back against his child not actual fighting skill yeah.

I don't think May is an apprentice, or acolyte. I believe she is an experiment. Considering what was mentioned in the third episode, it is not what she can do, but what she represents that intrigues the master. A child born of the Force, possibly one piece of a dyad in the Force. For a Sith obsessed with living forever, or restoring life, such a piece on the board would be extremely valuable. This four Jedi challenge is as good a way as any to see what she can do. Of course, when it is over, she will be too well known, and need to be disposed of, but even that could be useful. Let the Jedi dispose of her, and then claim what is left, not only do you get to see what was created but be able to examine it in detail on a dissection table.

I normally don’t comment but I was wondering stupendous wave if you could do a video on why Anakin believed he was ahead of Obi-wan as he told Padme in the attack of the clones. It could definitely relate to Anakin beating Obi wan in the Kenobi Series then Obi-wan taking away Anakin’s lightsaber with the force. He probably believed he was better than Obi-wan in every way and because he beat him during their training session that it resulted in him not listening or trusting Obi-wan as much as he should have.
This makes sense. Palpatine knew what he was doing. You have to choose student carefully. This means as a Jedi. Mae would be terrible Sith. I don't know if Mae can kill Osha. May the Force be with you too always😊

Irony exists on BOTH sides of the agenda here far as the Sideous/Vader goes. Even WHEN he was legit TRYING to train Vader he never could quite get it right. He was always either too with holding, cruel, an treated Vader as a lacky. Or struggled to be mentor, even when he was simply saying as close to friendly as someone like him gets "dude just get over "x" an you gotta move on from it bru..." One thing Sith apparently don't mimic too well from Jedi sects I guess.. or maybe it was also part of a Force's Cosmic Plan or something...

This is the gamer in me talking, after 20+ years of Star Wars RPG rules, but when I think of "Acolyte" as a term, in Star Wars, I specifically DON'T envision the Sith Master, or their apprentice, but instead more of a Dark Side Devotee. Someone who will be consumed by the Dark Side, certainly, but who will not be a Sith, and have their own skills, motives, etc, separate from that aged variation of the Dark Side. Someone a Sith Lird would use, but not bring into the greater mysteries if their particular creed. In this case, that could even work, as by Ep1, the Jedi are still entirely in the dark. They might know that there are Dark Side organizations, like the Nightsisters, and clash with them, but their dark, lightsaber-wielding mirrors are long gone. With this being an official Canon story, I'll be pretty annoyed if we get a bunch of Jedi on Sith lightsaber action, and big duels, just for them to lead to nothing, as Yoda, Windu, and others can't later know, and we know Yoda is there, even if he might never make an appearance, or he will know, and sit on it,and later ACT oblivious, which will be worse. It's kind of like how annoying I might find it when they actually reveal who the Sith Master is. Even Plagueis is kind of stretching things, and he got very fleshed out in his own book. O know that book isn't canon, anymore, but it is popular, and they could piss off a lot of fans needlessly if they willy nilly alter the lore there. I would LOVE to see Darth Tenebrous, with his different mindset, and he is rather renowned for his own skill with a lightsaber, and I've often complained about how his own Twi'lek Master is just such a footnote. Maybe he wants to use NS magic in his Force-suppression virus, or something, ir when that doesn't work, settle more into a biological, technical means of that effect. Still, if they just pull a while new character out of cloth, even a fun, decent one, I'll be pretty annoyed.
So, kind of unrelated question; why is Darth Maul such a lightsaber-expert? I feel like I can see why, but if he was always going to be a tool, and an assassin, in a time when the Sith still wanted to be hidden, and when Sidious already felt lightsabers were kind of unnecessary, why didn't he specifically train Maul to kill with anything orher than a lightsaber? It's probably kind of hard to make a death-by-lightsaber look like anything else, and no one uses lightsabers except for the Jedi...and Sith, so why wasn't Maul a gun-toting killer, or a vibroblade enthusiast? He could use the Force to enhance these, and kill in a less obvious way? Maybe Maul is an expert with six other weapons, but when we see him, it's mostly a lightsaber, and nothing else.
Regardless of continuity, the Rule of Two Sith are typically above most Jedi (and Sith in some aspects). Main reason is that since there’s only 2 Sith, the Apprentice must earn the title of Master (typically by slaying them, unless you’re the apprentice of Darth Vectivus whose been “gifted” the rank of Master) and in doing so must keep up with everything needed to survive (be it martial prowess, knowledge of the Force, and maintaining secrecy amongst other traits). A Sith (or more specifically a typical Jedi) wouldn’t know where/when their ancient enemy would appear and thus when one is prepared totally, they would be more than likely to take victory (and conceal their deaths in one way or another)

In someways Palpatine’s writing on taking on an apprentice does in line with the Rule of Two however the end result was a Rule of One and Half teaches. Yes RoT master does need to be careful when choose their apprentice but they must always let the Rule to move forward while for Darth Bane was right not purse a Rule of One at all and it was possible that in his own holocron he did not let be record for he believed it would so clear to any who fallowed his line.
Please don’t use the Acolyte as references. We all know it’s no longer Star Wars

I think most of his knowledge of choosing and molding a sith apprentice was learned from Darth Plaguies. After all sidious was the best sith apprentice sculpted out of the rule of 2 in that era. Im sure there is some deeper insight in the ways Sidious chooses his apprentice. Most likely stemming back to what i previously mentioned. "I shall meditate on this, and seek deeper knowledge"... may the force be with you.
I am curious as to how much of a true Sith Sidious truly was. We know that he instilled knowledge in Vader and multiple journals about his finding as a Sith lord "indented" for future Sith, but he never struck me as someone who thought of the Sith existing beyond him. Even if he had his wish and got Anakin un-scaved and fully devote to the dark side, i doubt we would want Anakin to try and usurp him like a master usually hoped of their apprentice. As bane had intended with the rule of 2. And with his recent attempts to gain immortality in both canon and legends, he seemed to have the belief that he would be the eternal Sith emperor and no need for a successor... but idk.

If you take Darth Sidious's natural talent and power as a force sensitive and consider the natural talents his apprentices had, of course they'd be damn powerful 💁♂️
I have admit I didn't realize that Darth Sidious have so apprentice in past because of their purpose sure I knew for Dooku and Anakin but didn't realize that go for Maul as well though Maul the apprentice Sidious wanted at least before discover of Anakin and his death and didn't realize that their so many rule just select a Sith Apprentice so did interesting hear Sidious though on it and for May I believe could killed the Wookie Jedi but definitely have her use in darkside or use Wookie Jedi lightsaber to kill her but I will didn't think about May Master make last tested her sister Osha will be interesting what will choose her sister or Sith Order
Basically a True Sith chooses the Most Powerful and Talented as a True Sith Apprentice teaching them just the Basic of being a Sith as they progress and keep all their New Creations of Darkside Abilities to themselves. While expecting their Apprentice to use their own Genius to progress themselves as a Sith plus create new Sith Techniques for themselves.
Also the Sith Master will always look to upgrade their Apprentice with someone better and Sith Apprentice will eventually look to kill their Master, to then become the Master themselves.
Vice versa True Jedi Knights take on any Force User as a Apprentice, teach them everything they know, then let them move on to become a Jedi of their own to build on the knowledge they was giving and then become a Master taking on a Apprentice of their own to pass down everything they was giving plus added.
So Jedi Masters are more of a True Mentor and Father or Mother Figure to their Padawans sharing plus spreading the Religion of the Lightside of The Force and Sith Master is more of a Boss and Chairman to their Apprentice who's more like the CEO running their Darkside Company.
Dooku was a very odd case for the Sith. Who was already a Jedi Master par excellence and second only to Yoda in knowledge and power when he left the Order. Dooku was powerful enough to defeat the Sith according to Darth Plagueis. Turning Dooku into a Sith was a huge coup. Sidious had little to teach him as a duelist since Dooku was the better swordsman. Dooku already had a substantial knowledge of the Dark Side before ever meeting Sidious thanks to five decades of learning from Sith holocrons and tomes. He mastered Force Lightning on his own. Sidious only refined his Dark Side knowledge, and added a couple things. However, it is clear in both Legends and canon that Dooku always felt Sidious was holding back with the highest level of Dark Side secrets despite appearing to share a lot of power on the surface. I think Sidious did not like this arrangement. It was dangerous to have such an independent apprentice and he hated sharing power.

I have a hope that mae is a red herring for who the acolyte will be. mae is psychotic and dark side inclined for sure but osha lines up far more perfectly with the sidious criteria. Osha has a lot of reason to have much deeper hate, she believes her sister killed her family over her temptation and choice to join the jedi building in a deep hate for sister but more importantly hate for herself while also sprinkling in hate for the jedi and their own need to be the dominant force religion. I hope it ends with learning sol separated from the other jedi, the other jedi killed the coven cementing osha's building hate for the jedi, mae kills sol the last person osha loves cementing her hate for herself over her powerlessness and the last good thing she might see in the jedi turning to giving into the dark side to gain power to kill mae ultimately becoming the sith apprentice as the final reveal.

The sith of the rule of 2 era lacks of knowledge of sith magic archemy rituals ect the ancient sith lords were far more knowledged and less restricted
And where did that get the ancient sith? They always eventually lost to the jedi or through their own infighting, the rule of two saved the sith and also evolved them to the point of finally being able to win and they did that with less than what the ancients had

The rule of 2 sith actually had more knowledge than the ancient sith as they possessed the telos holocron which contained all ancient sith knowledge as well as rule of 2 sith knowledge of new force abilities they created such as slowing down time, force phantoms, midiclorion manipulation, force viruses, force storm wormholes etc.

By feats this has been proven corrected as the sith of old struggled to even destroy a planet with beings like nihilus and vitiate only being able to drain the surface of a planet with aid while Rule of 2 sith as weak as Bane pulled a moon the size of a planet with his own power and others as strong as Sidious shook a planet, stars and formed a constellation during tpm, darkened the galaxy with darkside of the force, and consumed space and time via force storm wormholes.
