I'm so glad I came across your video! I tried it the first time and they were so delicious. I'm cooking them again right now as I am typing because I have to see the cooking instructions. I use tamarind sauce instead of cocum or lemon and it taste as good. I'm boiling the scrapes for tea after dinner because they say every parts of the tree is beneficial. Actually, it tastes better than the powder. In the Philippines, we cook it differently but your recipe is so delicious. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Ma'am. 🙏Very well explained from cleaning, cooking and how to eat. My friend got me some and I had no idea what to do with them. I'm very excited to try this out. Btw you speak very clearly in fluent English with a beautiful voice.
Thank you! This has been very informative! You are the first I’ve seen who explains it is similar to eating an artichoke...that explains a lot.
I have a lot of Moringa trees in my garden. Always wondered what to do with those drumsticks and how to eat them. Now I know especially, how to eat them. Thanks. Very educative and helpful.
A few well washed tender leaves could be added to any stew or curry ... they aren't strong in flavour !😊😊
The fresh leaves are beautiful and peppery in a salad. If you dry them and powder them they smell like grass clippings. They may be an acquired taste so feel your way.
Thank you for this video! We just bought some and had no idea the outside is not edible😂 You saved us a lot of trouble!
Thanks for sharing ! You remind me of the story of the poor old gentleman who didn't realise that !
Thanks. Tasty & mouthwatering!
Thank you, for this great video, well explained and narrated! I will follow this recipe and invite my Goan friends who are master chefs.
Love it
Just tried this, subbing tamarind for kokum and coconut milk for the coconut + water. Delicious recipe - thank you for your video!
Thank you for the very thorough instructions.
Interesting recipe. Like your detailed instructions.
I love mornina it's so light
Thanks for this clearly explained recipe! I thought I had bought a bag of frozen okra. But when I opened it, I realised it was some strange vegetable I had never seen before. I'm very glad you included instructions on how to prepare and how to eat it.
Glad I could help Megan. If you ever get the opportunity, try it fresh. It has so much more flavour and a much better texture too. I often use it in stews too - especially vegetable ones like this one - ruclips.net/video/hCBl08Hf154/видео.html
That's a wonderful demonstration for the new comers !😊😊
Thankyou very much, i look forward to trying this recipe.
Wooow very delicious
Yummy ❤❤❤
This is a great video. Love your channel.
This looks delicious. Thanks for taking the time to show us how to make this :)
Thanks for sharing ! Most informative for those who have no experience with drumsticks / moringa !
How often we hesitate to try something new and unfamiliar because of lack of information !❤❤🎉🎉😊😊
Excellent video! Thank you so much.
This video is great, you explained everything clearly and easy to follow. I first encountered these at the grocery store I just started working at and got curious, this video has greatly helped me learn how to prepare and cook them! Thank you!
Yum
Thank you 😊 everyone loved it you have made cooking so easy 😘
Thank for showing I just read about drumsticks pods how good for health so I was looking the recipe but you explain properly so thank you I am going tomorrow to buy and cook let's c how it go❤
Thank you for the recipe :) I appreciate you for doing a Vegan recipe!
Lovely voice....👍🤩
Thankyou for this. I am new to cooking moringa here in central california. My trees are doing well even with the severe drought . I will try these recipes. This looks delicious and you explained it very well.
Moringa trees love the heat and near drought conditions.... they can't stand very cold or wet weather !😊😊
we have a moringa tree with pods. the tricky part is which one is ready for harvest and ready to cook. enjoyed watching your video and will i will attempt to follow your recipe. i am just a neophyte in this vegan recipe.
Yes it can be tricky. Sometimes the drumsticks can be tough and the seeds are very hard even after long cooking.
The very tough ones are also inclined to cause tummy upsets .... medium thick pods are best !😊😊
thank you!
I love your voice and speech🤗
Thanks
Thank you so much for this recipe, I tried it with scotch bonnet pepper instead. I found this delicious 😋
Thank you
Well explained now we know how to cook this tree with lot of and better health .Thanks God bless
I'm from the West we cook it same as u . always help my mom to peel it .
Very nice and healthy recipe😂😂😂
You have very beautiful voice too...you speak English very fluent...please make a video on English speaking also
🙏 thank you. What kind of topics would you like me to cover?
Mum says to scrape the outside lightly before cooking. I've always just put them into the curry as is.
Not sure if there;s any benefit of scraping the outside.
I like your method of pulling back that strip after cutting into each piece.
I just chop them into suitable lengths and cook them ...they do tend to impart a peculiar colour to lentils , ( if it matters to you !!)😊😊
Ahh, than you so much, these are vegetarian, Indian food version similar to American Chicken wings, is that how they got the name 'drumsticks'? I appreciate your cooking instructions. I did buy frozen moringa drumsticks from our local Indian food market. After thawing the drumsticks, I thought they could be cooked like Okra, but.... the outside is as tough as bamboo trees! My baby steps here were to chop them, add them to a raw brussel sprout salad soaked in vinegar, ... moringa drumsticks were tooo tough, then I cut the drumsticks into small discs, boiled them with the brussel sprouts, and still, tooo tough, and finally, as I watch your video, I've been boiling drumsticks for an hour, I coiuld split them open but the outside remained too tough, Stilll!,
So we DO NOT eat the exterior, outer layer of the moringa drumstick, but open them, and enjoy the gelatious interior flavored with ingredients as you suggest, thank goodness, thank you for sharing how to eat moringa drumsticks. This seems a good way to enjoy the mango chili, or cilantro cumin we bought at the store, both would be great flavorings for the drumstick gel.
We'll use the boiled water for the medicinal reasons we bought the moringa drumsticks, pineapples and beats boiled in moringa vegetable stock. we'll be back to good health in short time.
Thank you,
Aha..so I got it right.. I just happen to pick up a packet of frozen drumsticks and was wondering what to do with them. ..once my friend gave me a hint that you do not eat the skin. I just cooked them in a similar way..without the coconut at the end
Thank you for your recipe.. it confirms I was not too far wrong will try to follow your recipe
Yasila, I'm glad you experimented with it. It is an absolute delicacy for us, we had a couple of trees growing in my grandmothers garden. So many people are not familiar with this vegetable. If you try it with the coconut, let me know how you like it :)
indian recipe dibs
Can we steam the drumsticks and can we avoid kukum.
Hi Rupa, yes you definitely can. If avoiding kokum, you may need to add more tomato or dried mango or tamarind to add a little more tangy flavor - feel free to adjust to your liking. :)
Friends
Is that dessicated coconut? Can use kudam puli?
I use either fresh coconut or frozen.
Just use a potato peeler to take the hard ridges off. Easy.
I have thick drumsticks fully grown. How do we preserve .
I cut them to length and freeze them.
Use a peeler
Can you please show with the camera how you scrape them against your teeth? This seems like an important part of the procedure.
I prefer to use a spoon to scrape but we also used to use our teeth. It was part of the experience you could say. :)
One of my favourite childhood memories ! However you'd have to be familiar with eating with your hand , too !!😊😊
I just chew the whole thing then discard the fiber.
If we aren’t eating the outside, why must we scrape the strips off?
We’ve always done it, I think if you don’t peel it it will be tougher to eat and it will also take much longer to cook.
