    I'm so glad I came across your video! I tried it the first time and they were so delicious. I'm cooking them again right now as I am typing because I have to see the cooking instructions. I use tamarind sauce instead of cocum or lemon and it taste as good. I'm boiling the scrapes for tea after dinner because they say every parts of the tree is beneficial. Actually, it tastes better than the powder. In the Philippines, we cook it differently but your recipe is so delicious. Thanks for sharing.

    I have a lot of Moringa trees in my garden. Always wondered what to do with those drumsticks and how to eat them. Now I know especially, how to eat them. Thanks. Very educative and helpful.

      A few well washed tender leaves could be added to any stew or curry ... they aren't strong in flavour !😊😊

      The fresh leaves are beautiful and peppery in a salad. If you dry them and powder them they smell like grass clippings. They may be an acquired taste so feel your way.

      Glad I could help Megan. If you ever get the opportunity, try it fresh. It has so much more flavour and a much better texture too. I often use it in stews too - especially vegetable ones like this one - ruclips.net/video/hCBl08Hf154/видео.html

    we have a moringa tree with pods. the tricky part is which one is ready for harvest and ready to cook. enjoyed watching your video and will i will attempt to follow your recipe. i am just a neophyte in this vegan recipe.

    • @rick_terscale1111
      @rick_terscale1111 2 года назад +1

      Yes it can be tricky. Sometimes the drumsticks can be tough and the seeds are very hard even after long cooking.

    • @maureensamson4863
      @maureensamson4863 Год назад

      The very tough ones are also inclined to cause tummy upsets .... medium thick pods are best !😊😊

    Mum says to scrape the outside lightly before cooking. I've always just put them into the curry as is.
    Not sure if there;s any benefit of scraping the outside.
    I like your method of pulling back that strip after cutting into each piece.

    • @maureensamson4863
      @maureensamson4863 Год назад

      I just chop them into suitable lengths and cook them ...they do tend to impart a peculiar colour to lentils , ( if it matters to you !!)😊😊

    Ahh, than you so much, these are vegetarian, Indian food version similar to American Chicken wings, is that how they got the name 'drumsticks'? I appreciate your cooking instructions. I did buy frozen moringa drumsticks from our local Indian food market. After thawing the drumsticks, I thought they could be cooked like Okra, but.... the outside is as tough as bamboo trees! My baby steps here were to chop them, add them to a raw brussel sprout salad soaked in vinegar, ... moringa drumsticks were tooo tough, then I cut the drumsticks into small discs, boiled them with the brussel sprouts, and still, tooo tough, and finally, as I watch your video, I've been boiling drumsticks for an hour, I coiuld split them open but the outside remained too tough, Stilll!,
    So we DO NOT eat the exterior, outer layer of the moringa drumstick, but open them, and enjoy the gelatious interior flavored with ingredients as you suggest, thank goodness, thank you for sharing how to eat moringa drumsticks. This seems a good way to enjoy the mango chili, or cilantro cumin we bought at the store, both would be great flavorings for the drumstick gel.
    We'll use the boiled water for the medicinal reasons we bought the moringa drumsticks, pineapples and beats boiled in moringa vegetable stock. we'll be back to good health in short time.
    Thank you,

    Aha..so I got it right.. I just happen to pick up a packet of frozen drumsticks and was wondering what to do with them. ..once my friend gave me a hint that you do not eat the skin. I just cooked them in a similar way..without the coconut at the end
    Thank you for your recipe.. it confirms I was not too far wrong will try to follow your recipe

      Yasila, I'm glad you experimented with it. It is an absolute delicacy for us, we had a couple of trees growing in my grandmothers garden. So many people are not familiar with this vegetable. If you try it with the coconut, let me know how you like it :)

    • @TheAspiringHomeCook
      @TheAspiringHomeCook  4 года назад +1

      Hi Rupa, yes you definitely can. If avoiding kokum, you may need to add more tomato or dried mango or tamarind to add a little more tangy flavor - feel free to adjust to your liking. :)
