You should use a USB C meter to see what are the voltages and charge state. Also, when charging a phone, charge from a lower state of charge. At SOC greater than 80%, you will see lower power going into the phone.
I think I would much rather if it was a normal looking hat with clips or a strap that would hold on to a solar like blanket or tarp that would hang down over your back/backpack. It would get more surface area to actually generate a reasonable amount of power and it would be detachable so far easier to lay out and point at the sun when you stop for breaks like lunchtime.
I have one on order, so thanks for the preview. I'm very curious, but mostly bought because of a big discount and because it's such a novel gadget. Would love to know how much charge it adds to a 30% full phone during a 3 hour hike.
In my experience it won't add any charge in that scenario But your phone will stay at 30%. You really need to get all panels seeing sunlight to get the full 12w of power
Fail at 10:09 when phone goes from 93% to 92% when supposedly charging from hat is very convincing. Maybe they will ask you to redo and skip that part?
It's in line with what I am saying As a hat on your head, phone off, in your pocket it'll hold the charge If you have it on and plugged in Charge will drop, just not as fast If you put it in the orientation I show with the entire hat pointing at the sun it will Charge your phone
Bifacial would help boost output to let it charge while wandering around, but I'm not sure they are totally there yet. My guess is another year minimum. They wanna sell these ones first, and they are barely on market
If you wore that in a Louisiana summer you would get heat exhaustion in a hurry. That black hat would bake your head like an oven. It’s not only stupid looking, it’s actively dangerous.
LOL yep! You'd have to sit out in the desert for weeks at a time to get your phone charged. Good news - you have charged up phone -- bad news, you die of heat stroke.

I wouldnt assoiate my self with that company they are brokering hacked accounts. Please do you home work on your sponcors
Kinda a missed opertuinity to not use the draw string for a charger cable also I suggest using a USB power meter to show exact power measurments
Yes, I'll hook up usb power meter in future video
Looks like it would be perfect if you are dressing up as a witch for Halloween!
Yes for sure

All great points!
We tested a phone that was at 40% Charge off camera and found it charged well

That's what I was looking at originally to hang off my backpack
But then I saw this and thought it solved my problem
Should have drained your phone before testing. Batteries are much harder to charge after 80%.

@@GearsAndTech Fine, was curious if you had to show them the clip before making it public. Good job on the review.
Kung Lao is going green!
I was thinking lord Raiden!
I am holding out for the bifacial version which is coming out next!
Bifacial would help boost output to let it charge while wandering around, but I'm not sure they are totally there yet.

I just wanted to know how to store it, can’t figure out how to fold it..
Fold it in half, then half again and it fits right into the bag
@@GearsAndTech thanks, worked

The mesh on the back cools off well
so its a worthless product that makes you look ridicules
You don't place any value on something that makes you look goofy?
Im going hiking this weekend, guess which hat I'm taking with me!?
we make weird products sometimes 💀
Weird but functional isn't a problem.
Inovatiom starts somewhere
@@GearsAndTech so what comes next? a solar backpack? /j
its goofy!
I agree
Sounds like a gimmick to me. You might get 40wh per day.

Good news, you can call 911 and your friends will be able to 'find my iPhone' to recover the body
Would benefit from 20w of power for sure
@@GearsAndTech LOL yep
Dumbest product Ecoflow has made yet, IMO
It's for sure a little out there
