Made this recipe but changed two things. I added an extra 1/4 cup sugar and I sifted the flour. They came out delicious and soft. They also held their shape very well!
Thank you 4 sharing your recipe for sugar cookies. I don't own a fancy mixer either so everything is by hand for me also. However finding recipes w no mixer is almost impossible. Also ur super nice & don't talk too fast. Thank you.
God Bless You for sharing your skills with beginner bakers. All those little tips that make a difference in the presentation and taste. Most of us are gifting our efforts. This has been my most successful year for sugar cookies! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.!! The Best Is Yet to Come.
Love the grader idea I’m always forgetting to take my butter out, or I just get that hankering to last minute bake you’d think I’d leave butter out all the time cause I loveeee baking haaa
I was looking to make cookies with my granddaughter and searched a few recipes, we came across this one and decided to try it. It was simple, straight to the point and the final outcome was delicious. Because I love almonds, I added a tsp of almond extract. We had so much fun making these cookies that the second time we made them my mother joined... Three generations of first-time bakers :-). Thank You for sharing this recipe with us. The icing was also very good!
Beautiful cookies!!! I am a beginner cookie baker. So this is excellent. Love those wee people you took the time to read to!! Thank you for the lovely vjdeo. Merry Christmas!
Thanks so much for this awesome video! This was the first time I ever made sugar cookies. I followed your instructions and recipe and did not change a thing. The cookies came out perfect! It was pretty easy. I will be making this cookie recipe again❤
would u say these are moist?.. sometimes the most beautiful cookies are so dry!... is there anything extra that can be added to ensure moist sugar cookies?? TYSM! Enjoyed video! new sub!
You can also use parchment paper on your pan instead of the spray and put your dough between two pieces of parchment and roll it out and that way you don't have all that extra flour in the dough.
thankyou for sharing! love how simple it is, just shows you don't need fancy equipment and you make this so accessible for everyone! thankyou for sharing:) may you be well and happy always and stay safe!
Very helpful video. Cookie spreading can be so disappointing and your Tip will definitely be used often by me. Thanks for sharing these Tips. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and Weekend! 🦃🦃🦃 and 🍪🥮🥧 🍽☕🍵🍷🥂!
I'm 58& just got a mixer about 12 years ago... l triple batched 20 types of Xmas cookies for friends& family every year! Think they turned out better when l did them by hand!!! 😂😂😂
this was jusst fun to watch and i like that method can you make dough and cook the next day. also whats that yellow thing you using on the dough on the other roll out
I made this recipe exactly the same but the dough was too sticky ( maybe i added a lot of Vanilla Extract 🤔) anyway i hadded more flour and that just did it it was verry good ! thank you it was my first time making these 🫶🏻
This is the best video !!!!! Can’t wait to try this recipe. I was always afraid to use royal icing I make fondant...cut out the shapes and put it on when I pull out the cookies from the oven. This is so much easier!!!! Thank you 🤗
You don't have a mixer? I don't think my hands could mix this! I've also never seen the grater technique so that's a great idea. However, when I'm in a pinch, I do microwave my butter on about 10 seconds which just softens it a little bit and they still come out nice and soft. Thanks for the recipe!
Woah! They look great! I think I like your tactic of roll, cut, place and then chill. You can just take the pan right out of the freezer and pop it in the oven. I'm very excited to try these. I love sugar cookies 😍
Hi! I haven’t made a video in about 2 years because of covid homeschooling and taking care of my 6 littles…. But I’m thinking about taking it up again!!
Hi, so here’s a few questions. How many cookies did your recipe make ? I’m a total beginner in the kitchen, once you’ve cooked, & cooled & royal frosted your cookies, MUST THEY GO IN THE FRIDGE, or can they be put in a cookie jar or tin, & LASTLY, since these are home made, what’s the freshness factor with these cookie? How quickly must we eat them & when should we toss them? I know weird questions BUT I’m a total Beginner here. I’d appreciate your help in answering these questions, I’ve got a beautiful baby girl turning One in about a month & I want to make her cookies for her party
1. I LOVE all these great questions!! 2. I love that you are exploring the world of baking! It’s so fun to learn. Ok, so the recipe is for 2 dozen cookies, but it all depends on how big your cookie cutters are, and how thin/thick you roll the cookies. I frequently get around 3 1/2 dozen out of it. The cookies do not need to be refrigerated about being cooked and frosted. Room temperature is 👌🏻. I recommend consuming within 2-4 days, but some customers say they are still great after 10-15 days. 🤷🏼♀️ mine never last that long in my house though. 😅 You will do a great job making cookies for your baby girl! You can do it!!
You are a lot of fun! Love your sweet music! If you press your cutter in flour or powdered sugar u won't need to poke the cookie dough out of the cutter. Use a fork or corn cob holder to pop bubbles before the icing sets. Shake off excess icing before placing on rack. Love Wilton Meringue Powder!
Hi, how many grams are 2 sticks of butter as how many grams contains your cup? In my country butter doesn´t come in sticks as well as cups could be 200/250/300 grams. impossible to make your cookies.
hello. I like the minimalist appliance approach! what is your general opinion on the idea of substituting half butter with applesauce in cookies (not cakes)?
You know, I’ve never done that before for cookies. (I HAVE for cakes and breads) I would think it would make the cookies a little too moist, and they wouldn’t hold up their form as well. But it would make a great experiment to try and find out!! 😀 I would love to know how that goes!
Snowed in up here in Kalamazoo Michigan by myself, I found your recipeI cut the cookies out with a solo cup and put strawberry jam on top they were awesome. I'll be having them with my coffee in the morning.
Thank you for the video. Any tips on keeping cookies soft? Mine tend to get pretty crunchy after 4 days or so. Better storage solution or something I can add to the recipe that will still keep a crisp cutout? Thanks so much!
Yes! Store them in an airtight container with a piece of bread in the container! The cookies will soak up the moisture in the bread, and become soft again 😀
Do you mean while I am cutting them out? The stem is such a small piece, I like to help them out of the cookie cutter a bit, otherwise they sometimes break off. 😀
@@apinchofpatience991 yes I make a lot of cut outs and that’s always a problem but didn’t you poke them when they were on the cocky sheet? I love your. Site!
I appreciate how you show that cookies can be made without having to use industrial grade kitchen equipment😊
Made this recipe but changed two things. I added an extra 1/4 cup sugar and I sifted the flour. They came out delicious and soft. They also held their shape very well!
My family, and my daycare kids LOVE the cookies! Thank you so much for sharing it with the world :)
Did the cookies turn out soft and chewy? Or were they hard and crunchy? And how did they taste?
Thank you 4 sharing your recipe for sugar cookies. I don't own a fancy mixer either so everything is by hand for me also. However finding recipes w no mixer is almost impossible. Also ur super nice & don't talk too fast. Thank you.

I got a $5.99 mixer from Walmart....not much of a baker, but the mixer works great!

It’s a corn cob holder. 😂 you can just use any pointy small object to get in those corners
Thanks sooo much for the meringue idea, eggs are so expensive right now! Since I've only ever made royal icing with egg whites!
Yes, I’m not sure that meringue powder is much cheaper… but it has an incredible shelf life and meringue powder is a little more food safe too!
2 sticks of butter is how much in grams please and thanks for your receipe i enjoy your videos learnt alot

Hi! I haven’t made a video in about 2 years because of covid homeschooling and taking care of my 6 littles…. But I’m thinking about taking it up again!!
I'm going to make these!! They look easy and tasty.
Yes! They are both!
I roll dough on parchment paper and use powdered sugar instead of flour so that the dough doesn't get tough from adding flour.
What an excellent idea!!

Do the cookies taste good? Soft not hard and crunchy? Thank you for all your tips❤

Yes of course!!

Oh my goodness. You look just like Melanie!!!
Not sure who Melanie is….?
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Do you have a petit fours recipe?
No I sure don’t. Sorry.
Awesome 👍
Enjoy!
Thank you but how long do you leave it in the oven?
What type of flour did you use. I always use red rose, used Robin hood instead. Thanks
How long do you bake sugar cookies? Grease pan or not?
How long do bake them for
Is that a corn cob holder your using that's cool :)
Haha yes it is!! You can use anything small and pointy to get in those small corners.
Haha yes it is!! You can use anything small and pointy to get in those small corners.
What tool were you using when taking cookies out of cookie cutter
It was just a corn cob holder. 😂 you can use any small pointy tool to get in those pesky corners.
Is there a printable recipe?
How long do we bake it? I missed that instruction 😮
8-9 minutes at 350.
Awesome job!
Great teacher..Thank You!
Why thank you!
How thick is your dough when you start to cut them out some recipes will say about 1/4 of an inch thick do you agree or disagree
Amazing sorry I have small question did you use fan in your oven or just bottom?
Great question! I have just a regular oven, not convection. So no fan
Hi, how many grams are 2 sticks of butter as how many grams contains your cup? In my country butter doesn´t come in sticks as well as cups could be 200/250/300 grams. impossible to make your cookies.
Great video but did you put them in the oven at some point,or you don’t have to.
Sorry this is only the second video I ever made, so I think I missed that part! Bake them at 350 for 8-9 minutes.
Can I double this recipe
What is the weight of 1 stick of butter? I'm asking this as I'm watching from India.
Greetings!! We one stick would be 4 ounces.

Just curious how long do you bake the cookies?
So sorry that didn’t make it in the video. It is listed in the description. 350, for 8-10 minutes.
My question is can you use shorten instead of butter/ margarine? And what could happen if you do? Please respond
In uk is the white sugar normal granulated sugar?
Yes, it is
How long do you have to bake it for sorry 😔 for silly question
Hey! The bake times are listed in the video and also the description box below the video. But it would be 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. ☺️
Can these cookies be frozen an if so for how long
You can freeze in an airtight container for approximately 3 months. Place a piece of wax paper or parchment paper in between layers
Can I use parchment paper?
I’d like to know this as well. Excellent video btw!
Yes! You absolutely may use parchment paper
1) I Will use my kitchen aid 2) best to mix all dry together. 3) no salt? Thanks
Great Job Babe!!!
Thanks Babe!
I’m in the uk so we don’t have sticks of butter like you, so how many grams of butter is two sticks?
Great question! 😀 It would be 226.8 grams. Sorry about not including that conversion!
Thanks for the reply and no worries x
I’m definitely trying your recipe…
I love the Fall cookie decorations ❤️
Thank you!! And there are so many different designs options you could do. Have fun!
How many cookies you got
I cannot believe that you mix by hand when you run a business! Great video but I would invest in one!
Yes yes!!! About 6 months after I made this video, my hubby bought me a huge kitchen aid. I use it almost every day!! 🤩
Never throw out dough! Just bake it and eat it :D
Haha yes you can totally do that too!!! Yum!
So you can cut the cookies out and freeze to bake later
These look really thin. Are they soft inside?
Yes!! Barely baked for the short 8-9 minutes makes them nice and delicately soft instead of hard like a cracker
Roll between parchment to avoid adding so much flour into the batch
Great tip!!
Would almond flour work in this recipe
I have never personally tried it that way. But if you are used to subbing our even ratios of almond flour in baking, then I say go for it!
@@apinchofpatience991 Thank you. I'll try this!
I dont know what I did wrong but my dough was very crumbly I could barely make it to my second roll out and gave up because it kept falling apart 😢
How much meringue powder to powdered sugar?
Hey! The written recipe is in the drop down description box of the video! 😀
How much was your cookie decorating class?
Hey! I’ve charged all different amounts, but usually it’s around $20-$25 per person for a 2 hour class. I live in the Midwest.
Classic sugar cookies have an egg in the recipe- this is a butter cookie?
This recipe has an egg. ☺️
How long do you put in the oven?
Why do you poke the stems on leaves?
Do you mean while I am cutting them out? The stem is such a small piece, I like to help them out of the cookie cutter a bit, otherwise they sometimes break off. 😀
@@apinchofpatience991 yes I make a lot of cut outs and that’s always a problem but didn’t you poke them when they were on the cocky sheet? I love your. Site!
I know it’s a silly question but when you say “a cup” is it 200ml in liquid? We used in weight/ grams for flour and sugar.
Many thanks 🙏
So sorry about that! And not a silly question at all!! 😀
1 cup of the dry ingredients would be 120 grams for the flour and sugar. 😀
That"s the problem using volume measurement instead of weight. 1 cup of white sugar is 200 grams, 1 cup of all-purpose flour is 120 grams
Does baking powder make cookies spread
It makes them rise a bit... otherwise the cookie would be flat, hard, and not fluffy in the middle
Do we really need a mixer for this recipe??????
Nope. You don’t. But you can totally use one if you wish!
