- One of my favorite tricks to help see my paintings or drawings differently is to look at them through a mirror. This works so well to quickly spot mistakes, inaccurate proportions, and incorrect values. I learned this simple trick a long time ago and still find myself using it every single day. The modern approach to this is to take a quick photo of your painting with your phone and flip it horizontally in a photo editor. However, a good old hand held mirror is still my go-to. Try it for yourself on your next painting or drawing. I guarantee you that'll you spot something that you didn't notice before. Best of luck in your paintings!

I am in love with your art., so delicate, so detailed, just wonderful.
I really appreciate your kind words. Thanks so very much!
Never thought of this trick! Done the upside down! Stepping away! Walking away etc., great tip thank Mark and Have a great weekend! 👊🏽👍🏽✌🏽
Thanks JC! Ah yes, the upside down trick is one of my favorites too. The mirror is really helpful for me. Have a great weekend as well!
Great idea. I do this all the time with digital art. Never thought how to do it with traditional pieces.
me too! I love flipping the canvas when drawing in photoshop. thanks!
VERY simple and effective tip. I use a similar method listening to music to pick out a part I'm learning. Turn on music, go into another room and listen to the difference.
that's awesome. I bet you hear a pretty big difference in the lower frequencies in another room. I'll try that someday- thanks!
I do take photos at every stage but never tried the mirror. Will be doing that in the future.
Your drawings are fantastic.
Thanks so much Ken! Yeah, try it out. It has help me tremendously over the years.
Great tip!! I’ve recently starting watching your videos, as I am entering into the realm of airbrushing 3D prints. I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your channel with your valuable insight. Thank you for what you do!
that's awesome- thanks so much!
Another great tip, I will give it a try. Thanks!
Thanks Louis! I use it everyday
Great idea Mark - thanks for sharing. I also love your graphite drawing, so realistic. You are one talented artist my friend. My paint brushes are tucked away safely for now as I much prefer the journey with the airbrush although I do enjoy to draw still and do so as it provides a good clean break especially now as I had a major screw up with Walter White after many hours af trying the techniques out. I will do that one again sometime in the near future.
Thanks so much Cyril. Your painting was looking great! I'm sure you can pull it together. No painting is ever lost, but I agree sometimes it's best to start something new to get excited about painting.
I'm a squinter and a mirror looker!! Sometimes I'll also just look at it upside down. Any way you can get a fresh look and different perspective. Different angle, so to speak. Otherwise your eyes get used to what they see and they no longer really "see". They need the change up.
so well said, Kirk! I agree it's all about trying to get that different perspective.
That's a great advice thanks for sharing! BTW what amazing drawings 😮 I would love to see a video tutorial for those 😊
Thank you so much- absolutely! I will 100% be adding advanced graphite drawing tutorials in the future. Been planning a few of them for a while now.
👍👍👍👍👍
thanks mag!
I love to watch your videos. You are such a talented artist. My artistic abilities are, unfortunately, on the other end of the spectrum although I have learned a lot and have improved somewhat, especially with airbrushing. Do you have a web site where we can go to see and maybe purchase some of your artwork? I would love to see more of your work.
Thanks so much Mark! I actually feel the same as you do. I too am never satisfied with my work, but I keep on trying and hope you are doing the same.
For now, I only have youtube. I had a website for so many years, but never found it to be of any help . Plus is was so expensive. I'll eventually get a new one set up but only being on youtube has been kind of fun for me.
Hi , just wondering what you use project your images on gesso like what brand etc…

I find you chanel a lot of help thx
