    Great videos! Thank you! Mario is a super nice person. We brought our cruise number to 5 a year and I work (IT) on some days from the ship. Royal has the best and reasonably priced WiFi.. that's why out of 8 lines we tried Royal is our most cruised line. Logistic of living full time on the ship sounds interesting.

    These latest Mario sessions have surprises that have caught me off-guard. Recently I found out that he has a car that he keeps at "home base." I assumed that there is so little need for his own car that he would just rent a car on those rare occasions when he needed one. Enterprise is pretty cheap for a small car, and they even bring it to you. Now I find out that he has an apartment, and housekeeper for his apartment. That's throwing me for loop, too. I guess we would all manage this unique lifestyle a little differently.

    • @GlobalAdventurer
      @GlobalAdventurer 5 лет назад +1

      I was thinking the same thing and also commented on it. I consider him a part-time cruiser since he still has a house and vehicle. I used to be a full-time RVer and I had no other house. And I would run across so many people who we're part-time RVers tht still had a home base.
      I travel and don't have a base. Other than all my stuff is in storage in my official city of residence for tax purposes.

    • @CruisetheWorldAtoZ
      @CruisetheWorldAtoZ  5 лет назад +4

      kings17court - Keep in mind He had most of those things before switching to living at sea. He goes to His home base often, so the cost benefits for Him is probably worth it.

    • @CruisetheWorldAtoZ
      @CruisetheWorldAtoZ  5 лет назад +4

      Global Adventurer - He is on a ship 350 days of the year.. He just elects to have a home base to keep it simple. Those assets were mostly acquired prior to His cruising lifestyle. He just elected to keep!

      Didn't suprise me

    • @rnptenafly
      @rnptenafly 5 лет назад +3

      He may have acquired those assets prior to beginning his cruising lifestyle, but having them still adds significant costs to it:
      Housekeeper wages
      Property taxes
      Maintenance
      Condo association fees
      Utilities
      Homeowners insurance
      Car insurance, maintenance, gas, registration etc.
      Were these accounted for in the "costs of cruising full time" video? I thought his "home base" would be a storage unit, mailboxes etc type PO box, and a laundromat that does the laundry for you.

    I was once absolutely wrecked after a red eye flight to catch a cruise. I napped as I always do in these instances. I left it until the last minute to put my shoes on and head out for the drill. I was astonished when my stateroom attendant said I didn’t need to go. I’m nearly pinnacle and that’s never happened before or since. I don’t know how he did it. I was grateful and didn’t hear about it afterward. I think someone could have gotten into a lot of trouble over that.
    Thanks to both of you for doing these. 💐🤗

      Oh wow, that's pretty crazy. I wonder how he managed that one since they take attendance. I agree they probably could get in a lot of trouble if caught. I've seen on the daily schedules of day 2 a make up drill for all those who didn't attend they make you do it.

      B Steven I did give him a $20aud tip the next day. I really don’t know how he did it and I had not had him on any other cruises. I guess he would know who was working on the muster station associated with his staterooms. This was less than a year ago by the way. It’s not something I would have asked anyone to do but I really appreciated it.

I book all my cruises as early as possible to lock in a good rate and to secure the cabin that I want for many consecutive sailings ... Pinnacle perks are many but the most important ones for me are free unlimited internet and use of the Gold seapass card to gain access to the Suite Lounge and Chops for breakfast." Nice one super Mario and Alanna. What is the Wi-Fi like on board and does Mario have to pay for it ? as I found out last night, Wi-Fi on a private super yacht costs thousands of dollars a month depending on the mbps, it seems 15-18 mbps is around 30/35,000 dollars a month and can be much more ! shocking. So for a cruise ship ??? I dread to think of the overall cost to the cruise liner...

    • @CruisetheWorldAtoZ
      @CruisetheWorldAtoZ  5 лет назад +1

      Pete A - Keep in mind he gets the wifi complimentary for being a pinnacle member. And the cost is easier offset with 5,000 guests vs 10 guests.

    • @michellecollins4974
      @michellecollins4974 5 лет назад +2

      Pete,
      Wifi costs vary but if you don’t get any status discounts and buy onboard, it’s generally $16-20 usd per day unlimited if you buy for the whole voyage or what is remaining. I think if you buy them in 24 hour chunks of time, they are $25 or $30 usd per day. As far as quality, I think it varies on how remote you are and how many other people are on it. I’ve also had some instances where the quality varies depending on where you are on the ship. There were many complaints about quality on my most recent cruises on the new spectrum of the seas.

    • @michellecollins4974

      Boat Lover free bag of laundry kicks in at D+ I believe. It has to do with status, not b2b. On Royal the free bag can only contain socks, underwear, T-shirts, swimwear and pjs I believe. So not proper pants or shirts or dresses. Not that you’d want to send those to an industrial laundry.

Glad to know it actually does - just seems the right thing to do if a cruiser is at that highest level, like Mario. Now of course the fact that he opts out of this convenient perk that most people would jump at, raises the question, "why?" I know, I know: preference, but it doesn't make sense, knowing how much he loves convenience.
