Just love the info Super Mario always gives us. My husband and I were talking about Mario last night while having our wine on the patio. Alana you do a great job of interviewing Super Mario!😉💜
I've only been on 3 cruises (all on Royal Caribbean), but I play quite a bit in the casino on the ship. The Casino Royale has given me 2 free cruises (one balcony and one junior suite), but my wife and I haven't been able to go yet because of the pandemic. Thanks RC, hope to be back on board ASAP !!
@@CruisetheWorldAtoZ by far our favorite ship is Oasis of the Seas. We have been on it several times and are going again in December. We got engaged on Majesty of the Seas though so it's special for us. We just went back to visit Majesty in April for our anniversary. :) Do you have a favorite ship?
Gotta love the perks that the cruise ships give. I’m mid tier on 3 different cruise lines. It’s so fun to get on the ship and find out what perks they have waiting for you. Keep cruising. 🚢
@@EdwardTravels I will soon become Elite with Princess which entitles me to free laundry. Does Royal Caribbean have free laundry on their loyalty program? (or any other cruise lines)
This was a great video. I’ve met Mario at a couple of top tier gatherings. He’s very interesting. The one think I didn’t hear in this video is that you really have to love cruising to invest that much time and money. I’ll have earned 400 points (33 cruises on RCI) by the end of 2022 after 9 years of cruising solo. Unfortunately, my job didn’t lend itself to virtual work but I plan on becoming Pinnacle by mid 2024 now that I’m retired. My hack is that I live in a city with a cruise ship port and I am part of Club Royale, the casino loyalty program. I like to gamble and would do so even without the perks. And so I receive complimentary cruises (you pay port taxes and fees) all of the time. The last offer was a 7-night Mediterranean cruise on the Wonder (interior cabin) or a 7-night ocean view to Alaska. From mid-December ‘21 to mid-March ‘22, I went on six cruises, all complimentary balconies, 4-5 nights, except for the one out of pocket-12 night paid for with leftover future cruise credits. Would I have just been able to pay for the cruises based on what I gambled? Possibly if I was purchasing interior cabins, but that is not my preference. Fingers crossed!
Wow congrats on your status as well! Very cool to reach pinnacle soon! love that you found a way to work the system for yourself! I don't gamble so I appreciate your perspective!
I know a few RCL concierges who swear that people change personalities when the are close to Pinnacle. From what I’ve seen at the top-tier events I totally believe them!
Very interesting that you mentioned this. I believe it is totally possible, like most things it can go to people's heads and inflate their egos if not careful!
When I heard about the "free cruise" benefit, I paused the video and checked on Carnival's loyalty program perks, there was no mention of a free cruise for the top tier program, so I am switching to Royal, thanks for sharing Alanna, you are doing an amazing job on your channel.
BeeBee's Funtastic Adventures - glad to hear it! they all have different perks! it just depends on what is most important to you! Thank you for your kind words!!
I discovered your channel a few week ago and have greatly enjoyed all the videos I've watched so far. I've looked for videos where you talk about yourself (i.e. a bit of a bio, how you got into travel and travel reporting, what makes it possible, do you have a day job, etc) but haven't been able to find anything. If videos of this kind exist on your channel, could you please put them into a playlist so I can find them more easily? If they don't exist, could you make some please! Maybe one possible format would be a 'reverse interview' - i.e. where someone you've enjoyed talking to as a guest on your channel turns the tables and interviews you!
I’d love to meet Mario someday. Does he ever cruise on Liberty of the Seas? I’m going again at the end of the month! I can’t wait. This trip will get me to platinum. If I got credit for the cruises I pay for my kids, I’d be 3x further along lol, but they are still preteens and they will have great statuses by the time they are grown! I got them into the club already.

Hi Alana, thanks for this. 💐. Would you please ask Mario about the timing of booking your free pinnacle cruises? I’ll be pinnacle in February and the business of actually booking the free cruise is confusing. I assume that in February, the next cruise or two following will already be paid for. Do I need to have an interim cruise in mind to book quickly after reaching each milestone? Also, does Mario wear his pinnacle badge most of the time. Here in Australia, most don’t, but I noticed on the spectrum inaugural cruise that many of the same Aussies wore it all the time, even to breakfast. It seems a bit OTT. Thanks again. 💐💕
Michelle Collins - Per Mario " very easy, as soon as you reach Pinnacle, you can designate any future booking (existing or new, paid or unpaid) to be your free cruise. Call the Crown & Anchor desk to set it up. Only ships that have been out for at least one year are eligible." also, he does not wear his badge, his badge is actually at his home base.
You can actually hit pinnacle a little faster that, just under 34 weeks to get the 🍍. Solo in a suite = 3 points/night. Of course if you are really gun ho, go for it when cruising recommences in 2021. Royal is giving double points. So solo in suite = 6 points/night, so just over 4 months in a suite. Or just under 6 months in a standard room. If you want it, and you have the money and time. Do it! Well worthwhile.Being Pinnacle changes everything, Mario didn't even get close to describing the change here.
What Religion is Mario? He talked about his daily routine but there was no mention of Church. Does Mario goto the casino & does it have a perks program?
Do Pinnacle members get free laundry? I know Mario mentioned swapping laundry with his housekeeper at his home base, but if this is a Crown and Anchor benefit it would make retiring on a cruise much more manageable.
Many cruise lines do have some type of version of movie theaters. If they don't they usually offer movies under the stars which is on the jumbo-tron on the pool deck.
Have to pay for 700 nights to get 7 nights free? That’s not free. It’s a 1% discount and probably still responsible for paying taxes, fees and gratuities on that “free” cruise.
Atrevete a lo Nuevo, your point is worth considering, but the arithmetic is flawed. For instance, the qualification is based on Cruise Points and that is more than just cruise-nights sailed. For instance, for a solo traveller like Mario, guests earn DOUBLE points; so that, as he said, can be as little as 350 nights to reach Pinnacle initially . . . and a free cruise or TWO every year. Another option is that a solo passenger in a Suite earns triple points . . . and that means as few as 233 cruise-nights to Pinnacle. Fourthly, note that that is only for the first free cruise; after that, it is a free cruise every 350 Cruise Points, which means only 175 nights for a solo passenger in Balcony cabin or below . .. and 117 nights for a solo passenger in a Suite.....Fifthly, there are so many other free amenities, free drinks, free internet services, exclusive discounts (including 50% discounts on Single Supplements, discounts on Balcony Cabins, and discounts on Suites), that the value is much more than the free cruise every 350 points. Finally, note that he stays in the cheapest category: Inside Cabin...often for 3 night or 4 night cruises....but the free cruises are in Junior Suites for a whole week each time!
there's a thought! it's pricey when you are living on the ship for an extended period of time though. I do like that the suites earn you double points. So there's another good benefit!
