      @@CruisetheWorldAtoZ The artwork was going crazy. They ended up canceling the rest of the auction and told us to go back to our staterooms. The boat was rocking so severely that we were running into the walls. I kind of enjoyed it (mixed in with a fair dose of fear) , but my husband got really seasick. Looking back so many years later, it's a fun story.

  • @oceanloverforever8233

    “Feeling confined” was the one of main reasons my husband used when he did not want to cruise. I booked Mediterranean cruise in
    2004 thinking if he absolutely hates the cruise he at least would love ports. He loved it and became addicted! We have 42 regular and longer cruises with 8 lines since then and I don’t see this ending, in fact I cannot go to places I like, because they are not accessible by cruise ships ))) . Oh.. by the way only once we were on tail end of Norovirus. We washed and sanitized hands a lot and crew did amazing job cleaning everything.

    Mario, thanks for confirming my own observations and experiences: cruise-ships are the safest place to be during hurricane-season . . . and the roughness of seas is far worse in the Mediterranean Sea, the North Sea, and the Pacific Ocean, than in the Caribbean, where bargains and great weather abound year-round.

    Love watching you and Super Mario! I never had gotten sick until we went on the original "Love Boat" Princess Lines, in the Caribbean. We had 25+' waves on that trip. It happened to be lobster night, and my girlfriend and I had soda crackers and 7-up! Our husband's had their lobster dinner! The original Love Boat only had 800 passengers at that time. Safety; I agree, on the whole, it is a safe environment. However, due diligence is required. We were burgled on a cruise, losing cash. That ship had no safes. We thought we had adequately secreted the cash away. It happened when were at dinner one evening. Insist on a safe. Even then, we were assured, there were professional thieves who book cruises and make a good living over and above the fare they pay for a base cabin. Pay attention. Lock up all valuables - even if it must be with the purser. Most cruise lines don't guarantee, even then.

    Alanna--On a prior interview episode with Mario, he said that the top level of the Royal Caribbean loyalty program included the perk of free WiFi, but I didn't see that listed on the RC website describing the loyalty program. Is that a special perk just for Mario as a very long-time resident on the ships, or is it a benefit for everyone who reaches the top level of the loyalty program?

    • @CruisetheWorldAtoZ
      @CruisetheWorldAtoZ  5 лет назад +3

      Professor Dr, great question! As Mario explains, "That is correct, however, under the "Onboard Rewards" icon in the Pinnacle Benefits section you will see the second item that says "Onboard offers pre-loaded to your SeaPass card. Refer to your welcome letter for details" ... so in the letter it will state complimentary WIFI for the duration of the cruise. "

      @@CruisetheWorldAtoZ Hi again Alanna--THANK YOU very much for your quick informative reply! As a retired university professor emeritus, my wife and I are considering spending 5 consecutive months each year or perhaps even 11 months a year on a ship like Mario does. So we've been keenly interested in your ongoing series of fantastic interviews with Mario. Learning about these loyalty programs, I'm comparing long-term loyalty benefits of various cruise lines. I'm guessing that Royal Caribbean's reputation for the fastest Internet speed was a factor Mario considered in selecting a cruise line because of his type of financial consulting work that requires Internet. And the free WiFi at his top Pinnacle level is perfect for his work too! My past experience has been on Norwegian Cruise Line and Cunard, and trans-Atlantic cruises too. Your videos have given us the idea to try Royal Caribbean next! So I very much appreciate your excellent, interesting, & informative videos! Keep up the great work!

      We have found that my time dining gives quicker turn-around from being seated to finishing desert than the traditional early / late seating. In traditional, the wait staff does not start the serving process until all the tables their team is serving are filled. Get one table in your bunch that is always 15 or 20 minutes late and your dinner will be delayed by that much as you start your salad as others are finishing their meal. That being said, you can meet some interesting folks in traditional dining.
