      Easy & quick but definitely not healthy as they're full of carbohydrate and if you use cooking seed oil such as vegetable oils, it's even worse.

    We have a Super H-Mart just north of Chicago that has so much wonderful frozen food that is quick and easy to prepare. The bulk of it is Korean, but there are many other Asian cuisines available. If you have to travel to get to one similar be sure to take several insulated bags with you to ensure you get home with the food still frozen.

    Great video. My wife is Korean so I get some of those. They call the pot stickers mandu if steamed or yaki mandu if fried. I noticed that some packaging was in Korean. She also uses frozen rice cakes a lot, I think in English it is tteokbokki.
    I also work in an area heavily influenced by Vietnamese and they have some of the same types of frozen foods such as the pork roll or Banh Bao. They also use a lot of frozen meat balls or bo vien.

    Hi Maggie, very good video. When we celebrate with my wife’s cousin, the method of choice of cooking is da bin low or hot pot. There are many of these restaurants near us where you can cook your meat and fish balls at your table. I first encountered this type of restaurant in Hong Kong 45 years ago. Frozen is good when you want to have a quick home cooked meal at home with family. The char siu bao can be better if purchased fresh from the bakery. I like the baked bao over the steamed. Having char siu bao shows how versatile char siu is. I like to throw a couple of pieces in my won ton noodle soup to add extra flavor. I’m going to make another batch today using your recipe. I have modified your method by reducing the temperature to retain more of the fat. I always check the internal temperature to make sure it has reached a safe temperature for consumption. I have gained the reputation of being able to make a “killer” char siu by those whom I have shared with. All thanks to you. Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming, Steve

    Have you tried adding a squeeze of unagi sauce to your unagi misubi? Also, have you tried the powdered sushi rice seasoning? I think its basically powdered vinegar with a little sweetener. Both of these will only add seconds to your prep, but add a ton of flavor.

    • @rackoflam
      @rackoflam  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for sharing! I try to squeeze out the excess unagi sauce from the package. I also make sushi rice seasoning with rice vinegar, salt and sugar but the powdered seasoning sounds interesting!

As always, a very informative and great video as always. Great recommendations on good selection of frozen foods. On a side note, I love curried fish balls, cha shau bao, cuttlefish balls, beef balls, wontons, potstickers, etc ...,. Quick and easy on busy hectic days.
    Thanks again, for your kindness and awesome and insightful videos and recommendations.

    Sushi restaurants pretty routinely use a toaster oven to cook prepared eel (probably frozen just like the kind you show) so you don't even need a fancy air fryer.

I normally don’t buy frozen food, but after watching your video, I look at them differently. Thank you again for sharing. By the way, you have a very beautiful face. So fish balls are not made with fish? I've never had them and I don't like seafood so just avoid them all together.

      Most fish balls contain fish paste, but the Fuzhou fish balls featured in my video also contain pork. 😊

    Most of these items sold at restaurants are store bought frozen anyways. Los Angeles has terrible Chinese food restaurants.

    Unfortunately, althought taste good, those are unhealthy snacks full of carbohydrate and looks like you're using vegetable oil, highly toxic.
