What i love about H mart is that they created a pemium asian grocery shopping experience. By premiuim, I don't mean expensive because they beat out most places in terms of price. What i mean is that if you go to a H mart, the produce and fish and meat are always fresh. I have been to H marts in NY, Atlanta, Seattle, and Chicago, and none of them failed me in that regards. I currently live in a small town, and if you go to an asian grocery store, often times it'll be slightly dusty, the frozen section hasn't been restocked in forever, and the produce is only fresh about once a week if you're lucky. However, in my town that's the best I got so that's where I go.
I remember going to H Mart for the first time as a little kid with my mom. Being so used to American stores where everything is more compact, seeing such an insane variety of products going so far around made me feel like I was in a whole other world. When I grew up, I figured it would become "smaller" to my more mature mind and grown self. But nope! Twenty years old and I'm still walking in circles, lost as ever. It's become a great tradition to me and my friends to go to H Mart, shop for a meal to share, and come home and watch a Studio Ghibli film. I absolutely love it, and I hope to give my future kids the same experience of such a wonderful place.
I’ve been shopping at H-Mart since I was a kid they were cheap and by far the best quality but now price have gone up along with the being plenty of competition not just from not just from other international markets a growing and expanding isles and choices from your traditional American grocery store as they become more aware of the growing ethnic audience and the changing test of their consumer.
Occasionally, we come here to either shop, to eat at the food court, or just for fun. A simple drive here is absolutely exciting, as I am a lover of Korean culture and cuisine. 😁🇰🇷
Love H-Mart we have two in my area about 25 minutes from my house and they are less then 5 minutes down the street from each other. Have to go soon to get my hot pepper paste. The best place to shop for produce, prices are always good and the options are amazing.
Blame Chun family whom needs more money for them to embezzled money to South Korean governments to get out of jail card for their wrong doing during 80s when Chun was president of S.Korea.
tomato totato I'm fairly certain that Japan didn't create raw fish and rice wrapped in seaweed. Being a coastal country, they're going to eat fish and have seaweed. The proximity of Japan to Korea is coincidence. Just because rice is eaten in the Americas and throughout Asian, doesn't mean they copied one another. You are right about instant noodles though. That's Japanese creation, but just as pizza was an Italian one, it doesn't mean a culture can't adopt it and make it uniquely their own!
I didn't think I needed this video but I did because I literally do not know what is good whenever i step into h mart and i'm constantly googling stuff
I really like you content!! Can you do a video where you go around the grocery store, pick things you like out and the do a mukbang? I’d love to see that. :)
Cons of H Mart: costs an arm and leg compared to other local Asian markets and even more compared to abroad (it's like 5 bucks for small bag of chips that costs a buck fifty when in seoul), always crowded Pros of H Mart: I've gotten little sheep hot pot base there on sale, and 포카칩 chips (sadly no onion ones), the $10 bowls of hot pot meat are easy to grab for a special occasion
I shopped at H mart store #1 wayyyyy back in the days (when it wasnt called H-mart but Han A Reum) 한아름... some 25+ years ago. Man, times have flown by.
Me too, I'm cross that Eater didn't think any viewer would actually care to know where the host was! Well WE would like to know! LOL Not impressed with that silly oversight and I really do hope that somebody out there will clue us both in on which supermarket location this episode was filmed in. I'd love to go!
Ive been to other asian markets in my area but, happened to come across h-mart by accident. I was looking for soup dumplings and google lead me there. I was surprised that it was a grocery store since I was expecting a restaurant. Mr. Dumplings is the name of the restuarant in the food court (among many other eatery's). I was pleasantly surprised and impressed at the selection of foods. Different fruits and vegetables. Needless to say, i got my soup dumplings and dumpling soup for dinner tonight.
I'll be going to H mart soon and to be honest i'm nervous. What if i do something that could be wrong or stupid? I'm not asian but i'm really interested in the different culture and love learning about everything but there isn't much that i know about well Korean culture ( is that okay to say?) But i'm just really self conscious that i will do something stupid or weird and i don't wanna do something that might be disrespectful. I also don't know what to get as a non asian, i mean i'm just lost and nervous. What do i do!
Except bad ingredients in many pre-prepared products like chemicals, msg. Make your own Korean food from scratch. I like the quality of WF meat and fish better.
The first time I went to H-Mart, I thought I was going to have a seizure. I just didn't know where to look first. And even though I have been back dozens of times, its always an adventure and I love that I'm still figuring things out!!!
An H Mart opened near my home to replace a Ralphs. Aside from great variety of seafood and Korean prepared foods, pantry goods and veggies seem cheaper at the HK/Taiwan supermarkets around SGV.
If You go to t&t supermarket which is a store equivalent to h mart except it more Chinese focus and offer other Asian cultures. You can get a platter of fresh sashimi for $15 of less. Their sushi platter and roast meat are great
There is an Asian grocery store in Carrollton, TX which used to be an HMart until they relocated to be near other Asian shops and the prices are economical. It's actually a Chinese grocery store, not a Korean grocery store.
Korean frozen dumplings are really good. Duru duru mando is one of my favorites. There are veg dumplings too. And kimbop! Tastes better and healthier than sushi. I love veg kimbop.
i go to a local asian market, but when i need certain things that they don’t sell like dumplings or some rice, and they usually don’t have the largest ramen selection, they have a pretty good selection just not that large. anyways but i go to locals, and h marts :)
I just read the yelp reviews for the H Mart on 38 west 32nd street here in NY and their saying a lot of negative things about the experiences they had at this market... I wonder if it's true or not cause I wanted to shop there but I'm having second thoughts after what I read.
cturner1180 It's Midtown. OF COURSE they're complaining. That's what they do. And "they" probably aren't even Korean. Lived near there for years. It's not Flushing, but it's decent. So go. P.s. If that's you... wow. Better than K-Pop. Lol
I drive an hour & a half to get to my closest HMart. Worth every agonizing minute on the DC beltway. Wish they kept up a better supply of kimbap. They're often out. Also, the jars of kimchi are very good, but the plastic boxes of fresh kimchi made in Maspeth, Queens is AMAZING. I'm eating some right now.
When is the episode on samgyetang or sullungtang or sujebee or yukhoe coming? Pre-oblideration North Korean cuisine? Korean sauce factory? And the things that you could find perhaps only places like Jang Su Jang or Sura? I'm not Korean, so I don't know any more Korean dishes.
While researching this store I saw tons of people saying they hate when white people go to h mart, and that kind of mad me sad. Because I want to expand my pallet and understand other people's culture through their food. Plus it looks amazing, I've always wanted to try kimchi.
My town has a huge asian population, mostly Indian and Chinese but Korean comes third. We have a small indian grocery store that only Indians know about (and most non-Indian kids because we have 2nd gen Indian friends. Indians usually live separate from the rest of us. If whites, blacks, arabs, and non-indian asians can live in 1 neighborhood, why can’t Indians?) Back to the topic, my town has so many Asians yet there are not really many Asian grocery stores. We have a lot of authentic restaurants, but that’s it. If I had to guess it is because Indian families tend to cook Indian food with ingredients you won’t find at Harris Teeter or Walmart, but other groups tend to cook American food with rice, or Asian food with American ingredients. I guess it is cultural differences. I could be wrong I am just going off experiences as a white kid who stayed for dinner a few times at my friends houses.
Oh my god, soon as the Covid travel restrictions are lifted I. AM. GOING. THERE. Woooooooooow! :D Can somebody please tell me which H-Mart is featured in this episode? Why didn't they show a map or mention where the host/narrator actually was?! I'd like to go that that exact one :) Thank you.
I went to the H Mart where I live for the first time and it was awesome but also I had no idea what I was looking at because I don't know how to read Korean and forgot most of the Japanese I learned. I know what the Samyang chicken dude looks like though so I bought that and mochi lol
H mart in diamond bar is pretty good. love the marinated meats and sides section. definitely beats 99 ranch. even the people who pack your groceries at H mart are nice. Japanese supermarkets are number 1, Korean number 2 and 99 ranch number 3. excluding American markets of course.

Would love an updated longer version of this! H Mart has grown so much since this was first posted.
Love H-Mart we have two in my area about 25 minutes from my house and they are less then 5 minutes down the street from each other. Have to go soon to get my hot pepper paste. The best place to shop for produce, prices are always good and the options are amazing.
"Everything in your fridge will smell like kimchi."
Yep! Grew up with soda cans with essence of kimchi haha.
My Albertsons turned today into H Mart and especially today on it's grand opening day I miss my Albertsons!!
Is this a paid promotion or just a video that happens to be on h-mart
Stephanie Kim it's paid promo designed to be content. this is the new world my friend.
if it was a paid promotion they'd have to say so
it's hidden paid promo. it's like a long commerical.
no they don't
I think I need jimmy and pc principal
H mart used to be affordable but now they are expensive.
ilashes4you really?
blame it on inflation. its not hmart's fault.
Blame Chun family whom needs more money for them to embezzled money to South Korean governments to get out of jail card for their wrong doing during 80s when Chun was president of S.Korea.
Live love life explains why they are in cherry hill Nj which is a town 15 minutes from me but where are the rich folks live
Why are guys replying now to a comment that is 2+ years old 🤣
Living in Southern California, I take H Mart for granted. It's awesome.
Hey It's Gerard we have em here?
shits over price better to buy most of the stuff at the vietnamese market
I second this...overpriced as hell. Good selection though.
nikolas macalma Yeah, Garden Grove, I believe Buena Park too.
Hey It's Gerard garden Grove Blvd if u drive down a black there's AR maket it's a Korean store too better prices
Finally! This is the quality content I've been waiting for. I like the new contents like this :)
2:30 *Girl walking by* "He has some anger issues"
sado429 I was thinking more like “Is he going to pay for that?”
sado429 that’s a tension release snack!
H-mart is expensive. Go to local small asian stores bc they tend to be cheaper and as authentic if not more!!
I live in the Atlanta area, and there are a lot of Korean supermarkets here. H Mart, Assi, Nam Dae Moon, Mega Mart......
ruclips.net/video/YLXr6mITEMo/видео.html
Im going in two weeks it’s 3 hrs away for me but I’m so excited
They are expanded well into Canada as well, and one is about to open in my city on the west coast in Victoria, BC
They have the best samples on a Saturday and awesome produce!
YOu made a very informative and fun video., like your style. Love Korean food!!!!!
I'm happy with two small Asian markets I support. Not nearly the selection obviously. Hope they're not driven out by big box. 😐
instant ramen noodle , sashimi, makizushi. they are all japanese food!!!! Nothing to do with korea.
tomato totato I'm fairly certain that Japan didn't create raw fish and rice wrapped in seaweed. Being a coastal country, they're going to eat fish and have seaweed. The proximity of Japan to Korea is coincidence. Just because rice is eaten in the Americas and throughout Asian, doesn't mean they copied one another.
You are right about instant noodles though. That's Japanese creation, but just as pizza was an Italian one, it doesn't mean a culture can't adopt it and make it uniquely their own!
tomato totato Koreans also eat raw fish and ramen, he just used Japanese words.
Its only matter if time till Amazon kills hmart as well though.
TravelerPat Ramen is Japanese, ramyeon is Korean and Chinese has it's own name for the noodle dish
I didn't think I needed this video but I did because I literally do not know what is good whenever i step into h mart and i'm constantly googling stuff

South Texas needs one!!!

I’m from the south and we use to eat regular noodles like the bushu bushu noodles. I’ve got to find my nearest H-Mart!
Got one:

I live in NYC and I've never heard of H Mart... now I wanna go
There’s one on 32nd and another on 110th
this is the Hmart in Plano, Tx. I come here like twice every week OMG
ngan vi I go to the one in Carrollton. I had to limit myself once a week.
omg me too
I go to one in Maryland

This shop looks so fun! I wish we had this store in Australia.
Thank you for sharing this.
H Mart in Paramus, NJ opened today what upppp!
The closest h-mart to me is an hour drive. But I think I'll be making this drive soon. So many things I'd like to try!
I shopped at H mart store #1 wayyyyy back in the days (when it wasnt called H-mart but Han A Reum) 한아름... some 25+ years ago. Man, times have flown by.
Where is this H mart? I need that in my life right now!

LOL Not impressed with that silly oversight and I really do hope that somebody out there will clue us both in on which supermarket location this episode was filmed in. I'd love to go!
I went to an H Mart in Koreatown LA. All I wanted to do there in eat.

i used to have a walbaums and it was super whack but since Hmart opened up replacing it, man love this place so much variety.
We have a lot of that stuff at the Mexican markets here.
Is it only Korean food or other Asian countries foods as well. Thanks , great video
Very useful!
ruclips.net/video/YLXr6mITEMo/видео.html
I love and miss visiting Hmart used to go to a Dallas location

ruclips.net/video/YLXr6mITEMo/видео.html
I am so lucky to live where I do, I have access to HMart as well as Thai, Cambodian and Chinese markets.
It's like the Whole Foods of Korean Food. Think I will stick to my Mom and Pop ones here in Hawaii!
Except bad ingredients in many pre-prepared products like chemicals, msg. Make your own Korean food from scratch. I like the quality of WF meat and fish better.
My nearest H Mart is 3.5 hours away 🙁 I wish they would put one in Norfolk
Yep went to korean language school so I can read the labels, true story, love korean food. There’s no Hmart in Albuquerque, hint hint!
The first time I went to H-Mart, I thought I was going to have a seizure. I just didn't know where to look first. And even though I have been back dozens of times, its always an adventure and I love that I'm still figuring things out!!!
I love going to the Korean Grocery store! I try to pick up something new each time :))
Obsessed....you forgot all the free samples they offer! It’s so fun.
Can someone tell me which gochujang is good? There are so many options
An H Mart opened near my home to replace a Ralphs. Aside from great variety of seafood and Korean prepared foods, pantry goods and veggies seem cheaper at the HK/Taiwan supermarkets around SGV.
H-Mart is overpriced. Go to a nearby Asian market and you will find same items for less prices.
Depends on where you live though. The ones in my city don't have a large selection so people drive 6 hours to Atlanta just for HMart
Hmm. They might do online shipping stuf. which would be nice. I live no where near any Asian shop and I want more things in general.
Malith Perera okay thank you 🙏
This is quality though
Yes .h mart over price. Nor fresh .they love a Spanish people. Because they pay less than Korean people.
That sashimi in Canada would be 59.99
Anthony England Yeah but it will be much better quality!!
If You go to t&t supermarket which is a store equivalent to h mart except it more Chinese focus and offer other Asian cultures. You can get a platter of fresh sashimi for $15 of less. Their sushi platter and roast meat are great
:( too real!!
so i go to T&T , the Chinese supermarket ......... prices are decent.
Well, if you go to hmart Canada, that amount of salmon sashimi costs about $20-25. :)
I love Hmart so very much. I have to drive an hour to get there but no sweat for all those yummies!
There is an Asian grocery store in Carrollton, TX which used to be an HMart until they relocated to be near other Asian shops and the prices are economical. It's actually a Chinese grocery store, not a Korean grocery store.
I love trying new foods and I'm going to go to an Hmart next week. What does everyone recommend I try?
Korean frozen dumplings are really good. Duru duru mando is one of my favorites. There are veg dumplings too.
And kimbop! Tastes better and healthier than sushi. I love veg kimbop.

Are they gonna open in Miami?
Where is this at? I want to go there one day.
Omg I want a H Mart now - although my local small thai shop is pretty well stocked too!
andrineslife
Don't worry, I haven't seen much in terms of Thai products.
2:35 yeah!!! I did that too. It's so good man!!!
Great video

@Dennis Staughton I still keep thinking about going I just might.
Ok time to do one for the west coasts 99 ranch market
If they could only open one of those in my town 😢
Could they please open locations in in arizona, washington and alaska!?
Oh they may do online orders?
Would be nice. No asian mart anywher near me
yay they just opened one in my city
Hmart sashimi is actually really really good like I was super surprised
I drive an hour & a half to get to my closest HMart. Worth every agonizing minute on the DC beltway. Wish they kept up a better supply of kimbap. They're often out.
Also, the jars of kimchi are very good, but the plastic boxes of fresh kimchi made in Maspeth, Queens is AMAZING. I'm eating some right now.
In NC we have G Mart. I’m assuming it’s related.
Wow thank u for your reviewing
The Hmarts in Portland are awesome, pickled ginger and roasted coconut water for lyfe!
Straight to the fish section! 🐠 my favorite part. 🐟
When I was little I would get told that eating ramen uncooked would cause worm’s in my stomach haha
I went to my local H Mart the other day and finally was able to purchase to Samyung x2 Spicy Ramen.
excellent video
well done
Also, if you don't want to pay full price on their premade food, go after I think its 630? almost 50% off on many items.
I wish they had one in South Florida
You need more subs I’m gonna share this vid
Ok I wish that there was H Mart in either Sacramento or Roseville California .
I wish Hmart was in Washington state!
You used me in the video! FUN!
While researching this store I saw tons of people saying they hate when white people go to h mart, and that kind of mad me sad. Because I want to expand my pallet and understand other people's culture through their food. Plus it looks amazing, I've always wanted to try kimchi.
People need jobs, some work at hmart. How does hmart stay in buisness? By selling asian food to ALL ethnicities.
I love Hmart! I got small spicy crab and it was yummy!
I love HMart. They have the best ones in Queens. The one in Manhattan is tiny and their selection isn’t that great.
This my best market I shop for korean food in the USA
Palama Super Market in Hawaii!

Blah - I've noticed this to, most non black, white, Hispanic folks only eat their own food. You rarely see them other places.
I love HMart! Luckily, I've lived/am living in parts of CA that have one.
I went to the H Mart where I live for the first time and it was awesome but also I had no idea what I was looking at because I don't know how to read Korean and forgot most of the Japanese I learned. I know what the Samyang chicken dude looks like though so I bought that and mochi lol
Can’t wait for Australia to have something like this 😢
H mart in diamond bar is pretty good. love the marinated meats and sides section. definitely beats 99 ranch. even the people who pack your groceries at H mart are nice.
Japanese supermarkets are number 1, Korean number 2 and 99 ranch number 3. excluding American markets of course.
How do small mom and pop groceries do in markets with HMarts? This might be a dumb question but this Midwesterner is curious.
I wish you showed how to find the better fresh dumplings, noodles, kimchi and fish balls. Since everything is in Korean.
