The only thing I’d say I slightly disagree with is the idea that shy = introverted. This simply isn’t true. I’m an introvert, but I’m not shy. I have friends who are extroverted, but are shy upon initial interaction. Introversion and extroversion refers to whether or not a person gains energy or loses energy from others. I think what you’re talking about here, is only about whether someone is shy or not.

There was this girl who was in my class that probably knew I had a crush on her, and right before it was my turn to do my presentation, she asked the teacher if she could go to the bathroom or smthn. She came back when I was done and got scolded by the teacher, but I'm thankful for her because I think she knew I was shy and got nervous around her. She probably gauged me out before I started my presentation by asking me "How come you're so quiet?" to which I responded like a dum dum with, *shrug* "...iunno" whilst slightly blushing 🤦‍♂

I avoid this by turning off my highly neurotic inner dialogue. It freaks women out when you have zero nervousness, not even a healthy amount, just nothing. I've mastered this through volunteering at events as a greeter. In this, the easiest way to get over being shy is to interact with many people as possible. You'd be surprised how unintimidating even attractive people are once you introduce yourself and "break the ice".

Pretty much the same. I used to get nervous talking to attractive people but over the years I've just made myself talk to so many people that I can pretty much talk to anyone. Also it helps not putting attractive people on a pedestal. Everyone has flaws including attractive people so feel free to point them out to them (in good taste). If they get offended and move on, oh well. Ugly people can be sensitive too and if someone can't take a ribbing why be around them attractive or otherwise.

This exact moment happened to me a while ago when I was in a bus and looked at cute girl. She was like a straight perfect 10/10 and probably around my age (18). I looked at her as she walked in and as she sat down we held eyecontact for a few seconds until she gave me the most beautiful and humble smile I have ever seen, she giggled a bit while doing it. After I saw that and my eyes got huge because I couldn’t believe what I just saw. I had a total blackout and looked out the window asap. I literally couldn’t look at her after that. I did it anyways in secret because I couldn’t believe the she really looked like a 10/10 but as she initiated eyecontact I looked away again. This happened a couple of times during the next 15 minutes until she ultimately left and I never saw her again.
God I wished I had the balls to go down and speak with her. But I don’t and every time I hold eyecontact with a beautiful girl I just look away.
However I stare at the soul of girls that I don’t find attractive

Shyness, anxiety, and being an introvert are 3 different things by the way. In a nutshell…
Shyness means your maybe a little bashful… humble. Anxiety means you are panicking and can’t find the words. Introvert means you feel most comfortable and at your best when you spend time alone. Let’s not forget reserved.. which is neither shy or forthcoming. They can go hand in hand but they don’t have to.
    I myself would describe myself as a shy/reserved introvert/extrovert. Lol. It’s a scale

As a person who have been both shy and introverted all my life, I agree
Being shy and being an introvert r 2 different things
Shyness is when u for example can't hold an eye contact with ppl or when u r nervous to start a conversation with strangers etc
While being introverted is not wanting to socialize most of the times and u want to spend more time alone bcz socializing makes u tired

I somewhat agree with the point where Qoves says that the other knowing you're attracted to them makes them attracted to you.
There was this guy I really liked in high school and when he found out I liked him he became intrigued. He would ask my friends why I like him and what I say about him. He normally doesn't acknowledge his crushes or care about them but I don't understand why he was interested in me. During my 5 years in High school he would ALWAYS stare at me throughout the 5 years and our conversations would always be awkward but in a cute way.
He never acknowledged me before he found out I liked him. He knew me as we were in the same class but didn’t seem bothered. He’s a very handsome guy and has had many girlfriends. I find myself to be average looking.

yes!! I remember I met this one guy whom I never thought he would be into me as he was heavily confident and a typical leader type and I'm shy and the complete opposite. My friend is confident and was the first to talk to them. I at first didnt find him attractive as he was so much of a show off and I thought he would be a better fit for my friend. But it turned out that he liked me and we were starting to play pool in a group and he used to do this professionally before. I suck at these things but somehow I managed to win against him. During the game he became more and more insecure afterwards I could sense that he liked me. The less he tried to show off the more I understood he liked me and all of the sudden I kinda found him cute too. It was this contrast of him being super attractive and confident and then being super shy and vulnerable around me which made me even recognise him as a potential partner lol this made me realise that vulnerability is actually what makes people drawn to another. The way he was looking at me was longing and still vulnerable. When I met my love of life at first it was just flirting and chemistry but I had many of these moments with people. I realised I love him when he told me he loved me crying. It was so emotional and he was not confident as usual at all. He was showing his pure side. And that's when I fell deeply for him as I understood that his actions are real and he truly likes me. I also realised that many guys like shy girls as it makes it easier for them to be in their masculine leading role. I believe some insecurities just show that the other person is human too, that we have a chance with them and that their actions are real and honest.

I find it cute & genuine depending on his attractiveness as well, whereas being super confident makes me feel like you do this all the time, hence it can single-handedly decrease the chances of getting my number to 0 depending on other factors.

I think it depends on the person. If you're not very attractive, aren't in good shape, lack confidence, are introverted, shy or socially awkward, getting nervous when you see someone you like is because you don't know what to do and you see them as above you, so you put them on a pedestal.
But if you're in shape, attractive, confident, extroverted, and socially adept, but have still somehow experienced nothing but rejection and disinterest, then you'll feel nervous because you know she SHOULD be interested, but the last 486 haven't been, so the pressure to attract this one is very high.

You got so much wrong here.
    1) Being introverted & shy are not the same. Many introverts are confident.
    2) Introverts are not trying to become extroverts. The world doesn't revolve around extroversion & you are not better because of that.
The fact that you clearly don't have a bimodal understanding of this proves that we are taking in a lot of our surroundings as observants while you are worried about self-expression & fitting in.
    3) And finally: introverts are about 50% of the population. Why would you assume that we would all be chasing extroverts?
I'm introverted & reasonably confident. I'm attracted to other introverts. Shy or not.

Not true. All the important people, the people with power, decision-makers, purveyors of knowledge -- top scientists or economists, world leaders are overwhelmingly average looking people. As Dr Grande said in his latest video, superficial charm wins in the short term but it always fails in the long term. But some people just choose to be introverts and not have a big social life not because they are unattractive or have no social skills but because they have personal goals which don't require a lot of socialising, or they could just prefer solitude, people need to stop giving so much importance to how they look but instead start thinking about what contributions they are making towards making the world a better place and start working towards building a legacy we only care about looks up to a certain age. In my death bed I wouldn't worry about how people perceived me as or how pretty I looked when I was in university, if our goal needed us to socialise we'd do it, it has no correlation with how attractive we are.

Shyness is more complex than presented here. A lot of it has to do with an inability or an unwillingness to engage in small talk. A person can be shy and enjoy performing on stage because he/she has a script. A lot of actors are shy, and good looking. Introversion has only to do with whether you run what you are about to say or do through your mind before saying or doing whatever it is you are contemplating whereas extroverts have less "inner talk." If you remove other people from around extroverts, they go crazy and get up and seek out someone to interact with. An introvert can simply rely on his/her own thoughts when not around others to keep them going.

I showed up at a breakfast and there was no seat for me so two men went looking for a chair for me ...the man who brought one first and I sat in that chair backed off when the second man showed up...full of confidence as HE was. That first man sat to my right and the one who was confident sat to my left. The man on the right eventually excused himself and left the event early...I felt awful for him. He could not bring himself to say a word to me while the other one couldnt shut up. I actually didnt like the chatty man and liked him less and less. It took mos. before that first man would look at me and speak to me and then ONLY when I worked to engage HIM in conversation he could barely speak...I felt so bad for him.
In the meantime I did find someone to date...neither of these two men. Now my best friend is interested in the shy man. She finds him good looking. So, now I am trying to maneuver them together...he feels comfortable around me NOW that I am taken. He doesnt know her so is shy around HER NOW. She says he is the only attractive man who attends these breakfasts so I am hoping on her behalf. Wish I could TELL him outright....but I hold back because maybe he isnt interested in HER.

I think it's more complex. Shyness can have different ulterior functions.
For example : A generally serious- No BS minded girl might shy away from a cute guy to send him cues that she find him so attractive that she could barely act serious infront of him. She wanted that guy to know - that he's so cute - but directly telling him could be awkward, or a inadequate gesture to signal the depth of passion he has evoked in her - so she shy away from him.
Shyness can often be an unhindered expression of First instance of love. Because if you have fallen for somebody, talking to him/her in the same way that you talk to everybody else could mean that your love lacks depth or passion. If you really want to express someone that you love him/her then a pinch of shyness is a very potent signal. It's a symbol of sacredness of your love. If you don't feel even a hint of shy, it could mean you treat that person as a robot & you don't care how you come across..
lol I think I made a huge mess but anyway.
One more example : I'm generally reserved & cold. But I often act shy to signal that I care for that person enough that I'm willing to turn off my "cold exterior".

    • @nyeguono
      @nyeguono 11 месяцев назад +1

    • @rahulranjan9013
      @rahulranjan9013 11 месяцев назад +3

I apologize for the confusion caused by my previous comment.
Let me clarify. I don't fake shyness; However, there are instances when I consciously override it, although I usually prefer not to. It's bc I want to express my genuine emotions and avoid appearing cold when I'm actually : 😳
Also, my shyness doesn't stem from feeling inferior in any way. Rather, my shyness arises when I really value how others perceive me & what they think about me.
For example, when I'm around my crush, I could have suppressed my Shyness (natural shyness) & made a serious face. This could unintentionally convey disinterest to her, which I definitely don't want to happen. Shyness, on the other hand, sends the message that I care about her and value how she Perceive me (I don't want her to think that I'm uninterested in her bc of my cold exterior), which is why I don't supress my shyness around them.
Also, my initial comment was more from the perspective of contemplating the evolutionary purpose of Shyness. I absolutely don't *control* my Shyness . Bad choice of word, sorry. I just wanted to tell that I mostly choose not to suppress my shyness. I didn't meant I was faking it or manufacturing it.

@@rahulranjan9013 Well I’m glad you’re self evaluating enough to understand this. Some men will act like a robot and wonder why they miss opportunities with the girls they like. It’s already quite confusing when you’re interacting with a colder type of person. I’m always very uncertain and uncomfortable around them, but I like them so much bc usually they’re so freaking smart and helpful.

Were the young people acting in the video at the beginning, perhaps? I wonder why the camera is following the movement of the "shy girl".

This idea of shyness being attractive is far more skewed towards women.

I get intimidated and very shy around people I find pretty. It's hopeless and annoying

i did see this one girl at the dollar store a while ago, just your average white girl but i am shorter then her, and My teeth are messed up and i noticed this one guy in the store smelled better then me and he was taller. But I didn't want to go up to her unless i got my teeth fixed. i could be assertive around women and improve my financial situation but i would still be short. i think the reason i would be shy is because i am short, have bad teeth, and know in a lot of ways i am not good enough for the women.

Short/ethnic/ugly men that approach women are called creeps. You dodged a bullet. Only approach women if you are tall/white/attractive. Then you'll be described as confident.
