As a huge Knopfler fan I was a little worried that yet another album at seventy-four years old might disappoint. I was wrong. I love almost the entire album. The softer, Mellow Mark shows up with wisdoms of age yet not a dimes less talent or creativity.

I love it too! I'm about to the point where I don't think Mark is capable of making disappointing music...

Your review is so articulate and sums up Mark & his work so accurately. I think his heart is still in the North-East, he grew up close to where I did, and his music reflects that. An honest, passionate down-to-earth man who has a unique way with words - his lyrics describe how I feel about my home town, he describes characters that I grew up with and describes emotions that I am not sufficiently articulate to put into words.

Exactly. It's beautiful to me how Mark remains so down to earth despite his tremendous financial and artistic success since the late 70s. His ability to raise the humble subject to a sort of glory through song is unparalleled. Hope I can visit the regions of the UK that have inspired him one of these days!

Slow and boring. It's over Mark. Go back to sleep.
