Thank you for a great video (they always are), I found your channel some months ago, and I'm so glad I did. I wanted to show an American online friend Fredriksborg Slot in my hometown of Hillerød, so I searched for it here on youtube (instead of just linking some pictures). Your video popped up and I've been here since ^^ Best wishes to you and yours, and please keep doing what you do Cheers from Hillerød
I literally just watched about an hour of each of your channels and within 2min of thinking "I wonder if they know each other" saw this video and I wasn't disappointed, you guys are so wholesome and hyggelige 😊
WOW......AMAZING.....we will visit that place for sure....especially the pancakes with butter looks delicious. We always had that at home since my childhood, but first time i've seen it in a restaurant .....Looking forward to a brunch visit....thanks for an other great inspiration video
Another great collab, and you made me hungry. On my first visit to the US we actually flew in and out of Chicago, so I have visited it. Without having tried grits myself, only knowing what it's made of, I think you might like Øllebrød if you like grits, but you'll probably have to make it yourself though, the few places I've seen it in restaurants it tends to be a little overengineered in an attempt to put a new spin on it, like adding fruits and such.
The high-calorie American breakfast palate grew out of pioneer and agricultural pursuits. Visiting family farms in my youth breakfast was a big meal that was expected to last one until dinner. Sausage, salt-cured ham, biscuits and gravy, and grits was normal "stick to your ribs" fare, then you'd take your gun and go up into the mountain or help on the farm until evening. I don't remember ever seeing cornbread in Denmark.

As a Dane situated in the SF Bay Area, but fortunate enough to travel a lot for work, I really want to stress how much I agree with the recommendation to visit Chicago. You will love the city, the food, the culture, but more importantly the people of the area. If you travel to the US and have to pick only one place to go... Chicago should be your choice!
Something for Danes to try - I love it! Looks like you had a great time. And of course I've been watching both channels, so this was extra fun with you all joining up for this.
I can’t wait to try the Midwestern Diner!! You did not mention the big American thing with breakfast. Syrup… Real Maple Syrup or the sugar stuff syrup that some people use (slam intended). My dad was Midwest born and raised (IN) and taught us that there is nothing as wonderful as real maple syrup!!
I've been planning to take my daughters there to at least get their shakes. Still on the to-do list, but guess we need to do more than a single visit to also get a "wholesome" American breakfast/brunch. Nice collabs you're doing. I enjoy both of your channels. 👍
When you know how many different labels of cereal they produce in the states, it's kinda like coming to old school east Europe here in Denmark. Must be quite a struggle for the first few months, for any American abroad.
Ha yeah, the cereal aisle in the US is like a library. You need a catalog system to find anything :). It was an adjustment and we often bring back a box or two when we travel to the US. I will say that we have adjusted to fewer options and find that less stressful, plus the Quaker Cruseli stuff here is tops!
Thank you for letting us know about this place! Looks delicious and I definitely want to visist now. Also, if you like the mead, I would highly recommend you try Valravnen. I get you. Though in America if you go to " Danish" restaurants it's not uncommon for æbleskiver to be served for breakfast with sausage. Because I guess æbleskiver are pancakes 🤷♂️
It's not as popular here as some other places, but we at times will do a more elaborate breakfast, with a huge variety of rundstykker, with cheeses, cold cuts, leverpostej etc. that thus is pretty close to a brunch but isn't considered a brunch.
@@nopenope3164 You need to go back a good deal more than 10-15 years, brunch moved in more seriously around the mid 90's, but the bigger breakfast still prevails as the more common, smørrebrød is not comparable here as it is purely for lunch and later on, and is still super common.
Honestly, I wouldn't have minded hearing your thoughts on Saturday's incident and how you experienced it. But yeah, giving it a complete skip might be the wiser choice :-)
Oh we actually recorded this video a couple weeks ago which is why we made no mention of the Euro. Saturday was just awful. I will never forget how Eriksen looked after his collapse. We're so thankful they were able to revive him and that he's doing ok. - M
I will definitely try out that place with my American friend and her kids. A suggestion for a summer try it on Tuesday - koldskål - it’s a must for most Danes during a heat wave like the one we have now. nordicfoodliving.com/danish-cold-buttermilk-soup-koldskal/
Yeah, we typically don't have that setup with folks around a table and it didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. I did what I could go fix it up some in post. I did get a new camera/mic since shooting this bit, which I think would improve things when we have this situation again.

That might be one of the strangest generalisations I have seen in a while... What on earth makes you think people from Jutland know less about American culture?

It's not as popular here as some other places, but we at times will do a more elaborate breakfast, with a huge variety of rundstykker, with cheeses, cold cuts, leverpostej etc. that thus is pretty close to a brunch but isn't considered a brunch.
We do but we make a occasion out of it so it doesn't happen every weekend.
@@nopenope3164 You need to go back a good deal more than 10-15 years, brunch moved in more seriously around the mid 90's, but the bigger breakfast still prevails as the more common, smørrebrød is not comparable here as it is purely for lunch and later on, and is still super common.
Did you know the children also drink mjød in the Viking age
When i am in a IHOP i really like the ham, sunny eegs. bacon ect. They can keep the pancakes with the sirup. its discusting. More HAM.....
@@TravelinYoung Oh, I see. Absolutely. It was truly shocking. Let’s hope he recovers completely.
I will definitely try out that place with my American friend and her kids.
A suggestion for a summer try it on Tuesday - koldskål - it’s a must for most Danes during a heat wave like the one we have now.

You Guys really need a better microphone when arround the table. Love the channel
In the beginning of the video:)
Yeah, we typically don't have that setup with folks around a table and it didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. I did what I could go fix it up some in post. I did get a new camera/mic since shooting this bit, which I think would improve things when we have this situation again.
Should've done a min or two purely in Danish, just for laughs.
Sorry guys!
Brunch, is one thing I'll never be 'in to'
- in that sense I'm definitely Danish!
I do make pancakes or french toast, but that's mainly on family B-days! 😃
To each his/her own 😉🤣
Hello from Hundested 🌸🌱
Haha, it's all good. French toast is fantastic though, might need some this weekend :).
Mumford And Sons.
when americans say its not overly sweet, i alway wonder if it is anyway :D :D :D
Ha, I will say I haaaaaate really sweet things and am pretty sensitive to sweet. For me it was a bit like no sugar added apple juice. It was sweet but in the way a piece of fruit is sweet not sugary sweet. - Miranda
Sir . you always pour for the guests first
I love pancakes, but American pancakes with sirup is worse for me, than "lakrids" is for you guys. :-)
Lol the Midwestern, that's literally just 'round the corner from my flat. Small world. Super sweet people and generally good food, but their hash brown are a ripoff.
Mjød you drink from your enemys skull

about football never call the best sport in the world soccer that is a n insult american football should be named RUGBY AFTER THE DANISH vikingtown rugby means ryetown
Over in Jutland a lot of the Danes are ignorant of American culture.
But on Zealand, we all would know the Bears and Cups at least refers to a sports team.
I think Baseball and Football, But I am not sure.
That might be one of the strangest generalisations I have seen in a while... What on earth makes you think people from Jutland know less about American culture?
@@hindsgaul10 that is simple, 50% of the DF voters, live in Jutland, they give no fucks about anything other than Danish culture, to a degree it is disturbing.
