    Great video. I used to travel on this route daily so it's good to see the drivers POV. By the way, Hough Green is pronounced Huff Green. 😀

      itsonlyme458 Thanks! I realised my mistake with the pronunciation after the video. It's challenging sometimes to pronounce places names in areas you're unfamiliar with :)

    I just want to say a very happy new year and ever since I found this channel I have been hooked as all other youtubers play this like they own the tracks and are not serious drivers however you are a sensible and extremely good at what you do. Sometimes listening to your commentary it sounds like the in-cab annoucmments.

    Hi PTGRAIL, this video is really great, and your stopping at stations is 100% spot on coz I've been on the line a lot ( I live near Widnes) and your driving is like a real drivers and at Manchester Picc station pass the first sign
    Keep bring more videos please :)

      Michael Hope Hi Michael. Welcome to my channel and thanks for your comment! I never use the HUD in any of my videos so I can help others learn to drive without using it. It makes for a much more realistic experience. :)

  • @Welshy98

    Great Video! Really teaches us how to drive without the HUD and also encourages us to do so! Mossley Hill is prenounced as 'Moss-ley' Hill and Hough Green is prenounced 'Huff' Green! 100% on stopping points too!

    • @PTGRail
      @PTGRail  9 лет назад

      Thanks Michael :) .. I did the return journey on this route in two separate videos on stopping services and corrected the pronunciations. I always find it a challenge getting them right in an area I'm not familiar with in real life! Thanks again :)

    I am pretty new to this, but I like to drive without the HUD as much as possible. I notice that coming out of Liverpool Parkway you say that it goes quickly down to 20mph but there are no signs to indicate this. Is there some piece of railway lore that I am not aware of that would tell me that the limit goes down to 20mph, or is it just that you know it's that from doing the route with the HUD? I notice that there is also nothing to tell you when the route goes from 30mph back up to 85mph, although, off the top of my head, I cannot recall when that happens.

      I use '-SetFOV=85' which is great for most trains, though in this train I needed to zoom in one level with the mouse wheel as it was just a bit too far back.
      Thanks for the feedback! There's plenty more videos on the way :)

  • @ValStartaker

    I hope they make Manchester to Macclesfield as a small route, cause I really only use the train between those two stations. It will also have my home station, Levenshulme. (Pronounced Levv-en-shoom, not Leev-en-shulm like most people say).

    Good vid, good narration. Was thinking of picking up this expansion, mostly because I start my daily journey to Preston at Piccadilly and a good portion of the stops are the same. I'm surprised at the accuracy of the stations and stops, they're 80 - 90% accurate.
    Anyway, thanks for uploading.

    @PTGRail how do you remember all of like where to stop and the speed limits without using the HUD?

    • @PTGRail
      @PTGRail  9 лет назад +1

      The best answer I can give to that is practice :) .. I always drive routes with the HUD first and I'm constantly looking out for landmarks for braking points and speed limits. Then I drive without the HUD to practice. And then I record :)

    • @jameshunt1516
      @jameshunt1516 8 лет назад

      +PTGRail You'd think they'd be signs telling you how how far the next station is or when to start braking. Would be much easier. Like on the motorway where they tell you far away the next junction is and the "Reduce Speed Now" signs.

    • @bulwinkle
      @bulwinkle 8 лет назад +1

      +james Hunt IRL drivers have to learn the route to the satisfaction of an inspector, or whatever they are called today, that they know where they are on the route even in almost zero visibility.
