I think the Hollow Knight is one of my favorite bosses not because of the actually fight itself but because of how emotional it is. It’s such an incredible part of the game, especially before you know you can fight the radiance after
The first time I fought the Hollow Knight I didn't understand almost anything about the lore of the game, but when I saw him stabbing himself I was like "wait, WAIT WHY HE'S STABB-" and then I understood. I was speechless.
Exactly, I hardly even understood the lore when I first played but when I finished that fight with both the music and sudden change in the bosses behavior I was in absolute shambles. I had to put down the game for a solid few weeks I couldn’t play it without crying
YES finally someone talking about how good the sealed vessel is. It’s nothing to talk about rly when you have max gear and fly through it quickly, but when going through it slower you can really see the tone change between vessel and infection and it’s a master piece.
@@rkon7629 the fact that he stabs himself and there are like 4 different things he could be doing is why the storytelling in hollow knight is incredible.
I ABSOLUTELY love the Hollow Knight fight, the music, the moment it started stabbing itself and the Radiance taking more and more control over it as the fight continued was so heartbreaking. I actually like this fight more than the Radiance fight, even though defeating her is more rewarding
The hollow knight boss is almost like a playable cutscene. You slowly see the infection take control over the vessle as it stops using nail attacks and infection just spews out. The triple slash combo it does turns into a weak slash that drains so much energy from the vessle that it juat collapses afterwords. And then, the infection just uses its body as a wapon. Inflating to shoot out projectiles or to slam its limp on the floor. And after you drain all it's health and start absorbing the infection into your body. A single chriek of pain shared by the vessle and the radiance sealed within it. As you can see the radiance's silhouette flash as it falls to the floor. The thing that pains the most about this fight is how the hollow knight starts stabbing itself halfway through the fight. Making you realize that this is not a 1 on 1 fight. It's an assisted suicide.
imo it's pure vessel the first time i got to that part of the pantheon and witnessed the silent scream, that turned my blood to ice, made my hair stand on end, and tears well up in my eyes i think both THK fights are pure art
ngl i always liked paint master sheo, i just loved how he attacks with paint instead of the normal nail attacks, and to add on how amazing it is he uses the nail art he teaches you
The way the Hollow Knight started stabbing himself always left a deep impact on me during the fight because it’s like he’s trying to help his younger siblings (The knight and Hornet) finish what they’re dad started with putting an end to the radiance permanently.
Sheo is so real. Super fun, super engaging. Not frustratingly difficult, but you also can't just damage tank. Also has one of the most fun and engaging telegraphing mechanics.
ofc they feel amazing when you beat them, they’re really hard to fight but one i don’t see often is normal Grimm, because it honestly feels like a dance, he does one move, you do another, and this repeats but each move after another, the player repeats with the same move that he/she did before
Literally EVERYONE is talking about NKG’s enormous enjoyment factor what are you on And Pure Vessel is also very appreciated but it does deserve a little more spotlight
Yeah she’s has a special place in my heart not only for the moderately difficult fight the cool coloring the battlefield and his happy go lucky lifestyle but also for the happy couple achievement sheo is the best of the bros also I really like great slash arguably the most useful
Great list I completely agree. Hornet sentinel, White Defender, Watcher Knights and Traitor Lord as well! Although I’m not sure if you could call all of those underrated
I adore the Hollow Knight fight. It's honestly tragic- and as soon as he hits his last 2 phases, that feeling of not wanting to fight anymore is just.. sad. I didn't want to kill him, but had to anyways. It hurt. I love it.
I just want to say that you brought me back to my hollow knight phase I genuinely forgot about this game and played other games but now I wanna beat it again I now remember the beautiful art story lore and characters and its my favorite game again thank you so much you earned a sub

The music following the hollow knight is amazing, you can see how he’s weakened and infected but still fights with everything. When he started stabbing himself idk if I were to feel bad or give up on sympathy since he was so far through the infection. However the way the music made it seem like a difficult choice and a dramatic fight, it was amazing
"Hollow Knight is not that hard" > me playing through the game without any upgrades and _only getting stuck on this boss for a solid 30 minutes_ Honestly I think the only reason people don't find this boss hard is because it isn't a boss made with the intent of completionists, just the base game. Seriously, the lack of shade cloak alone doubles the difficulty of the fight.
I love hollow knight fight so much It maybe an easy fight with all endgame stuff but after my low% it's perfect, it's so long and amazing, all his patterns are fun to dodge, and the way that fight gets easier yet harder after some time makes it even better
Your words on the Hollow Knight reflect a lot of my thoughts. It's one of my favorite bosses in the game, not for gameplay, but for the emotion. I feel like oftentimes when games sacrifice a bit on gameplay or challenge, they go a little too far, and it becomes harder for me to appreciate what they're trying to convey. But the Hollow Knight strikes a perfect balance. Plus, if they made the fight a bigger challenge, it would've been much more of a slog to get through every time you died to the Radiance.
The hollow knight is actually one of my favorite bosses in the game just cause its so emotional in my opinion and just like you said its just art and the fight is so meaningful :3
I like paint master Sheo but soul tyrant is my third favorite fight and the hollow knight is my favorite fight. The fight is almost perfect. One of my favorite parts is how the music changes when he starts to take control and begins to stab himself, and the whole fight is just so emotional.
I love paint master sheo, while easy the amount of paint splattered around the arena adds that chaotic aspect. Also he’ll always hold a special place in my heart since I beat pantheon 2 on my first try and he felt so fun to fight. Also, I agree with the Hollow Knight as it feels just the right difficulty for “the climax” for the average player. The music, the design, the attacks, the fact that he physically damages himself like he is fighting the infection is top notch.
Beat the sealed vessel this morning. He’s not as difficult as I expected him to be, but I have to admit he’s an amazing boss. He’s perfectly designed and I feel like he really does require you to use all the tricks you’ve learned throughout your journey in hallownest

I just fought Sealed Vessel with a tragic expression in my second gameplay. The fight, the stabs, it really makes that fight extremely meaningful. And to beat the hell out of Radiance after that, we just go face her with hate in the eyes because of what we witness.
With the Hollow knight I can definitely agree. The lore behind it all is just fantastic and then as it stabs itself it’s just trying to put itself out of its misery. I love that fight.

JUSTICE FOR THE HOLLOW KNIGHT Sealed Vessel deserves all the love in the world. I cried a lot while fighting him and felt every stab he gave himself, and I couldn't let myself kill him in the first ending, but I had to do ir anyway RIP, Hollow Knight.
I Agree With The Hollow Knight. The Boss Is Out Shined By Almost Everything And The Boss Fight Itself Isn't Much But It's Beautiful. I AM A Lore Guy And You're Right, It Does Have A Lot Behind It. The Tragedy Of Vessels And The Failures Of The Pale King Really Give The Hollow Knight In Particular A Tragic Story. And The MUSIC Is Just Great. I Love How As The Fight Goes On It Starts Fighting For Control, Eventually Refusing To Fight And Stabbing Itself Continuously And The Music Amplifies This Greatly.
I want a non canon game where we play as the grown up pure vessel and use his abilities. The game should be about him going through early Hallownest and killing all the major characters like Unn, all 5 nights, Lord Fool, Godseeker, he just completely destroys Godhome, White Lady, Pale King, and at the end he’s basically completely infected and kills the Void Entity.
The hollow knight fight may be my favorite final boss in all of gaming (at least out of the games I’ve played) it sucks that it’s outshined by other bosses but it takes my top 3 right behind the sisters of battle and troupe master Grimm
First time I fought the hollow knight, I could feel it losing energy and the infection taking over. The swelling music hits hard every time too, it's one of the saddest parts I still remember from the game
Imo i really liked uumuus normal fight anytime a npc helps us during a boss fight instead of just fading from existence just makes the boss so much more alive
I would've mentioned Paint Master because I like anything that deals with art, but I haven't managed to get that far into the game yet. I started a week after my birthday (Sep 12) since a friend had gotten a full game Hollow Knight switch card for me. He had been begging me to play it for that whole week. Only issue I have with hollow knight (the boss) is the fact he doesn’t do anything to really threaten you when you pogo him. I would have loved for him to have a upslash attack weaved into his combos once in a while
The hollow knight boss makes me sad because when he starts stabbing himself the soundtrack in the back has a sad violin vibe.(The hollow knight stabbing himself because for the infection to take control you need to have a will and the hollow knight had a little bit of will, so the hollow knight is pretty much helping you)
The first time I fought Hollow knight I almost cried. The music combined with the lore makes this fight an artistic masterpiece. And when he started stabbing himself it broke me
