PROTECT & SWERVE!!! CIVIC DUTY... or Hide & Seek Honda???

  • We continue to adapt to the death of my dad as I take on a more supervisory role on this and other jobs. I'm still working, helping, and teaching, for as long as God allows. Today's job came to us after a young driver swerved to miss a deer, got on a soft, steep, shoulder, and couldn't recover before the soft gravel took her car down and finally wedged it firmly under a farm access bridge. This Honda performed its Civic duty and protected the driver. We use our Peterbilt 337 with a Miller Industries Century 4024, 20 ton towing and recovery unit, to perform the recovery of the car and use Mike's truck, the Ford F650 with an LCG10, to tow the wreck from the scene.
    Again, I wish to thank everyone who has expressed their prayers and/or condolences for the death of my Dad. The outpouring of support from my viewers has been tremendous and has helped in this difficult time. May God bless each and every one of you. Also, thank you for your patience. I am still making videos, but I took a couple weeks off-call after my dad passed, so I wasn't doing very many jobs. This is another job trying to get to the new normal without Dad. I will continue to perform jobs and create videos, as long as God allows. Things will be different moving forward. I have to trust that God will guide me and this channel.
    Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!

    As you get more into a supervisory role, does that mean we might not be getting as many videos going into the future after you release the ones you already have?

    • @RonPratt
      @RonPratt  2 года назад +124

      This has been questioned frequently lately and quite understandably. Allow me to clarify what I meant by that statement. Good Lord willing I will still be going out on jobs, recoveries, tows, and making videos as I have been doing. There is currently NO PLAN to stop making videos or to stop doing the job that I love. I will be taking on more administrative duties at the shop, which will take more of my time, thus reducing the number of day-to-day calls that I take, most of which either, aren't filmed, or don't make it to RUclips anyway. What you see on this channel is only a small portion of the work that we do. I'm going to have to rely on our personnel to take on more of the day-to-day jobs that I used to take, but that shouldn't affect the videos you see here. There shouldn't be a change to the volume of videos you see on the channel, but the content continues to grow and change as God guides. I can't say what will happen in the future. I'll do the best I can to follow His lead. May God bless each and every one of you.

      But a large animal like a deer can come through the windshield. Although the car was wrecked, the driver was unhurt, thankfully. That might not have been the case with a deer in your lap.

    When deer dart out in front of you sometimes your avoidance choices are limited. I finally had a near deer experience about 3 years ago around May. A rarity two Albino deer near midnight about 15 yards in front of my van. A rude awakening for sure. I don't drive at night anymore because of my eyes. Glad this young lady was not injured. Ron, you continue to inspire. Your ability to convey what needs to be done, without expressions of anger, are truly wonderful. In my book you are a shining example of how a leader behaves. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family at the loss of your father.

    Ron is a natural leader & becoming the company Boss / trainer / mentor was inevitable .. Just so sad it happened suddenly
    And i'm glad the lady was able to walk away from that , those Honda's are sure built tough , with air-bags in all the right places

    One thing always shows so clearly is the real respect the Police and Fire crews have for you, and your family when you attend a scene. Down to here asking about Ethan being home. It really shines through that level of professional service and respect you also all the people you meet out there, your Dad would be proud of you, as it's clear his influence on your life is showing.
    Thoughts and prayers with you and the family over Christmas as you go through a first season without Dad with you. I'm sitting here in Norway, my Dad, back in Scotland, in hospital after 3 strokes and knowing even if I got a flight and went over, they'd not let me in to visit with covid rules at the moment.

    Ron, I can tell you from experience that you know you're really grown up when you become your dad.
    What a lucky driver. As you said that car's a total but it did its job and saved the driver. Nice almost one-step recovery technique- I've never seen you do that but it sure saved time. Good to see the guys doing what they know how to do- it's getting to where you don't really need to point out details at all. And no, we don't expect you to "move on" to flying a desk.

    I love watching you work, Ron, even in a supervisory role because you are both instructive and encouraging...the best kind of teacher. I have had you and your family in my prayers since I heard about your dad. I lost my dad to old age 21 years ago, and it's still hard. The holidays will be difficult, but you will get through it by keeping strong to your faith. Enjoy Christmas the best you can. Time will heal your pain. God Bless you and all that you do.

    Ron, I've given you compliments for a solid two years now. With all the words I know, I don't know the proper words to explain just how great a man you are. Always updating us on the injuries, teaming with other emergency responders, asking for prayers, receiving blessings, owner operator working right along side their employees, guiding while accepting suggestions. These are all qualities we wish we had. You show us what a good man does. And we all thank you

    Ron, it's good to have u back. We've missed you. I've watched other towing and recovery videos and nothing compares to the professionalism that u and u employees possess in any situation that comes your way. Every episode that I have watched is a teaching moment for your employees and subscribers that watch your channel on a regular basis like myself. I hope that you keep producing videos regularly now that you're in a Supervisory Role within the Company. Always remember that Dad is watching and is very proud to have a son and family like u and yours. Keep up the Good work. God Bless each and every employee and staff member of Midwest Truck.
