THE NEW VOLKSWAGEN FARM PLOW!! MUDDY NEW YEAR!!!

- Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching. This is another full 4K video!!! Playing in the mud...what a way to start the new year!!! This video was taken on January 1, 2023 and was already the third job of the year for me. Busy night, but I enjoy the work. This one was really fun!! I love playing in the mud. I don't know what happened other than this Volkswagen Jetta was left abandoned in a muddy farm field. The only access I have is a farm access road or from the two lane highway. We all know I've had trouble getting stuck in the rollback when it gets off the pavement...LOL. Even though we have 100' of wire rope on this truck, it still isn't enough to reach the car. I have to drag out endless loop slings and my Yankum Rope just to reach the car. There are several funny moments in this video that I hope you appreciate. Our Peterbilt 337 with a Miller Industries, Century LCG-12 and upgraded winch can handle this....I believe....we shall see. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

My common analogy, "there are many ways to reach 10". I could have approached this (any) job several different ways. The approach method is important, but more important is achieving the desired result, safely.
Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!!

Seeing all the mud by the drivers side door handle makes me think that when the driver got out, they fell flat on their butt! Then the boots barely stuck and bare foot prints seems like a quick get away was needed to avoid a DUI.
My guess would be someone coming home from a New Year's eve party who didn't want the police involved. Been there done that. My little brother hit a deer going home from my sister's wedding reception. I was following so we tossed the deer onto my luggage rack, tied it down and drove home. We then field dressed the deer in a 3 piece suit. Neither of us would have passed a sobriety test.
Happy New Year! My husband started 2023 off by rodding a sewer. Holiday calls are the life of anyone in service work. Thank you for the outstanding service you provide. Stay safe, and God bless.
Man I need this new Volkswagen plow for my field... Love the title though. Ron I enjoy watching your videos. They are very educational for people who have always wondered what the towing and recovery industry is like. Keep up the amazing work.
I've heard of a V plow (usually used for snow), but this the first time I've seen a VW plow lol
Thanks for sharing another part of your day, Ron. God's blessings to you and the Midwest family!
I am glad that it was off the road side and working from the field road where it was a bit safer then on the shoulder... As always love seeing all the jobs you do from moving a tank to moving a fire truck.
wow, what a muddy mess for this recovery was great to see the farmer was not upset about the ruts you were making in the field, and the officer was great also joking around with you. you have some fantastic police officers and a fire department where you live I know you work with them a lot and how they all help you out. And always my Friday morning ritual of seeing your video
Those stuck boots reminded me of when I had a animal escape to the dairy farm next to out compound...I literally fell face forward into nasty cow poop and mud the dairy owner grabbed my by my coveralls and pulled me up...glad all is goinf well for you Mr Ron thanks for continuing to make these awesome videos I enjoy watching you make a plan...stay warm and dry be safe 👍
Happy New Year, Ron and your family/team this looks like another very muddy mess!!!! Much love to you, Ron and your family/team God bless you and your family /team stay safe in whatever you do on a daily basis!!!!! Your family member, friend, Bob Compton, from Maryland
Another nice job.
Sure did a pot of damage, pulling the rear inner guards out. But, I guess, that's modern vehicles for you.
Good morning Ron and Happy Friday the 13th, stay safe out there.
You and your guys should have a gear bag like a volunteer fire fighter. That way you can grab and go. Put your muck boots, hard hat, rain gear, and gloves in it plus what ever else you might need.
That's what we did at the company I used to moonlight at. Everyone had their own bag and you just tossed it in the passenger seat or in one of the lockers.
Happy New Year Ron. Here is a fun fact from "Matt's Off Road Recovery" on the Yankem Rope. If you ever have to recover something that is all the way down to the floorboard and has a suction built up, put tension on the rope and let it sit. As the rope tries to go back to normal it will often break the suction without you doing anything other than waiting. At least you got a nice pair of muck boots for the shop! LOL
.
I also watch MORR! (Matt's Off Road Recovery) Love those guys and the other youtubers that are part of that family
It's not just a Yankem rope trick. If you pull tension on a regular line and hold it, bump the winch every so often, it will do the exact same thing. The technique is actually in an old military manual on how to recover vehicles from WWII. lol
@Mark Williams same here and also (Fab Rat's) as well
@@markwilliams3105 Dave Sparks is the real master of off road recovery. At least he doesn't bill AAA for unallowed towing.
If those boots were any more stuck, you would have had to call in the rotator to get them out! LOL!
Morning Mr Ron prayers and well wishes for all involved and prayers for your family and all the employees have a blessed weekend
Yep. That 75' wasn't enough. Personally I think at least 100-125' would actually be better. What, he ran out of his boots!!! Needed to learn how to either walk or run in the miud.
a good afternoon from the Netherlands :)
You got feniex lights on your truck?
They looks good!
Driver went home to sleep it off, barefoot
My new year started with my main bathroom toilet sinking through to the basement. Good times🤣🤣🤣🤣
Happy new year Ron to you and your family Keep up the good work be safe out there
I was, relaxing this am on my porch enjoying Elvis Presley Gospel songs, drinking coffee, watching the cold rain in Florida then on my phone I see "??? VW yada yada plow something ..." I'm was like WHAT!!! close close see the mud.... LMFAOO now I'm heading in to get another coffee and watch on TV. Have an awesome day!! You need another pair of muk boots to leave in your truck so you can grab them no matter what track your use.
Ron, Ethan and Talon, we had a wonderful time talking to you the other day and glad you could use the flags, thanks for what you do
Stay safe out there.. Happy New Year to you and your family 🙏i have heard barefoot in the park but bare foot in the mud😊
Happy New Year. Good to see you didn't get stuck as well. 😃
Thanks for this video. It was nice to see.
Good job Ron well done muddy but funny boots and foot prints Siloam Springs Arkansas
Mr Pratt, Your joke about plowing the field reminded me that is some locations there was a step between the use of horse drawn plows and those attached to tractors.
That step saw plows being drug across a field by a stationary engine. The engine in question would be winding a cable with the 'free' end being attached to the plow setup.
We had a similar thing over here in the UK with two traction engines hauling a double-ended plough across the field from side to side, advancing with each pass.
My grandfather steered the plough in such a setup when he was a young lad. He recalled that the engines communicated by a sequence of whistle blasts, with one engine winding the cable in while the other let it out.
If he felt the cables become tight, he would leap off the plough and get under it, as there was about to be a half-inch steel cable whipping across the field.
Winch free-spool parts - are they still on the Slow Boat from China? - - Why did you not use the side-pull roller, instead of the block of wood with the Vee-notch? It might be an idea to invest in a four-wheel drive rollback!
Great job you and your crew do Just curious what the badge on your belt I seen at 26;11 ?
I was wondering the same thing
I thought I didn't see it correctly
MAYBE ron works as an auxiliary LEO
I say a good pair of muck boots in every truck is a must that way you never forget them have a safe and blessed day
Volksplagen, eh? I was so excited to not see a Pratt fall. druge in the sludge, sorta thing.
Happy New Year to your, Ron, the family and Team Mid-West. Shame the wellies were 'back at base', but it was what it was! As has been alluded to, looks like the driver got away with nothing worse than a few bumps and scrapes and very mucky feet!! God bless from North Tyneside, UK.
And minus the boots, which is going to be difficult for the owner to report the car as stolen.
Nice straight furrows..hook the planter to it. 👍👍👍👍👍
Is that a Rabbit in the field or is that farmer growing a new crop and this is seed planter that can plow and plant. But no worry Ron can GET-DA-JOB DONE. 🚗🚜 MAN & HIS MACHINE GET-R-DONE 🥸🚜
A very Happy New Ron to you and your and family.
A great muddy start to 2023!1 Whilst everyone else was “recovering” from New Years Eve, you were out there, playing mud pies.
I was really amused and surprised how the boots stayed stuck to the boot lid during the recovery. MO mud must have special properties. Also, It must have taken you a few hours to clean the rollback after, as well.
Stay safe. Best Wishes Roy W .UK
It's because Ron is so smooth. There is a video of him pulling a car with a can of pop on the roof... and it hadn't moved at all.
Ron nice work
Something tells me the car is going to be reported stolen when the driver sobers up.
Cut a lengthways notch in that piece of cable saving wood so it snugs to the side of the truck bed ?
It looked like the driver left a butt print in the mud by the boots. Maybe s/he fell at about the same time the boots got stuck. Just a thought.
Nice straight furrow that Ron! Needs to be a bit deeper though. Dare I suggest a change of plough? Greetings from Leicestershire UK
Time to hire a dedicated equipment cleaner??
just to be clear i have a wrecker but for personal use only don't do recoveries my question is why didn't you bring the vehicle out the way it went in wouldn't have plowed up the field as much but like i say i wasn't there and that makes a big difference i how you do things
Mr Ron looks like they walked out their boots in stride and never stopped. Thanks for sharing and stay safe
Likely they were intoxicated, hoped a cop didn't come by, called a friend for a pick up. Fortunately they didn't get hurt and the car can be fixed.
@@leonb2637 im curious why everyone always just assumes stuff like that theres like a 5% alcohol intoxication rate in accidents like these just because someone crashes in a field dont mean they were drunk alot of people swerve to avoid an accident an animal icy roads etc i think your just being rude with the ice and thaw cycle they been having the person probably just went off the road due to ice or wet road conditions(hydroplanning) especially if you look at direction of travel before crash the fact they hit the brakes and skidded and didnt try to drive out of the field before you make assumptions like that maybe pay attention to the accident and surrounding area
@@TylerDuysen A New Year's Eve "booze cruise" just seemed to fit the occasion.....LOL
Cut a hole in the bottom of that v notch piece of wood you use on the winch and epoxy a strong magnet in it. Will keep it from sliding around on you.
The driver obviously had too much new year party, making him clean your kit will sober him up.
I got a quick glimpse but at 26:12 is that a badge next to your flashlight?
Could have been worse. Could have been a "beetle" infestation.😁
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota.
How a bout a block cut with a corner Like a Angle with a groove ???
♫ Mud, mud, glorious mud! Nothing quite like it for… ♫
Great recovery on New Years day, we just had a good one here,in Washington , Semi looses brakes and goes down boat ramp in Kitsap County , truck and trailer fully submerged, first thought was, How would Ron Pratt pull this out, would be a great video
yall could get a little 2 axle trailer for the rotator for jobs like this, may be easier to just pick it and plop it then tie it down. might have been able to do it from the paved road
why do we always see that people have so much junk anywhere other than their trunk?
You could have used the Rotator for this. Extend the stick way out then swing it to cast the wire just like fly fishing. Then you wouldn't have to walk in the mud. That would have been a hoot to watch.😁😁😁😁
Still have to set up the rigging and the Gator would have to stay on the busy road. $$$ wasted every time more truck than required for the job gets dispatched?
Evening from Phuket Thailand
That's a good start to the new year
Happy New Years. When you get a tow like that, do you store them for the Police? And if so, Do they have to give you permission to release the vehicle back to the owner? Just kind of curious as to how that process works on your end.
This time of year and the rains and it becomes the Muck Season. You and Matt's Off Road Recovery. At least you are not dealing with your old nemesis (overhead electrical lines) and potential life threatening road traffic.
Hey Ron... I've heard that Missouri Mud Rolls are only fun if there are at least 2 people...lol
well I doubt there were any serious injuries at all with this one, not when the driver walked away.
What’s your badge for Ron? @26:10
Wait wait it's a New Mud Buggy that didn't work 🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥸🙉🙊🙈
MSHP uniforms look dang sharp.
Is that a badge on you're belt? Looked like one
I enjoy these videos so much more now, with the clarity from 4K recording, an excellent, professional choice.
Happy New Year to you and the crew and family. Did you say there’s a detection out for gun fire? The celebratory gun fire in Georgia is so high. I wished those understood the potential consequences.
The biggest celebratory gun fire I have seen is when I was in Iraq 2003. That was when we got Sadam's two brats, I mean kids. That night Baghdad looked like the start of the Gulf War with anti-aircraft fire. Tracer rounds were going every way. We were watching wondering what the heck was going on? We hadn't heard the news yet. Then something hit the ground hard very close to us and we figured it was much safer INSIDE the team house!!!
Alex says to use the yankum rope. At least I think he would use it.
Ron, what is the badge on your belt?
Ohh no my muck boots are at the shop in the rotatater 😳😭
Hi Ron I have a friend that is a huge huge huge fan of u and I also like your video his RUclips chanel is Peytonrailfan search him up because he gave u a shout out he would love to meet u someday and hope so to and be part of the crew 😊 ☺️ 😉 and have a nice day
Happy New Year, I was talking-to to the video "get the yankum rope" as soon as you took the rim sling out .
Wow that was quick
Ron i getting into Matt's Off-Road Recovery territory now. You should drill a couple holes in the V block so you can put a couple pins through into the holes in the bed so the block stays put while you are pulling. You can possibly bet that car might be a rental since whoever drove it walked off and left it.
Love the shot with it being pulled on th the bed with the boots on the trunk 😄😅
Yes, it is good for any business to be busy in the beginning of the year. Though not pleasant to see any one finding themselves in an unsafe or difficult predicament. This includes our service people: first responders, linemen, tow & recovery people. Thank you Midwest Truck & Tow team for all you. Work smart, stay safe, and God bless.
P.S. . . . Next time, remember your muck boots.
Great work and footage 🎥🎥🎥✔️✔️✔️ but wow 🥺 that's really a recovery 😂 just some of the that wet chocolate 🍫 pudding weather ☁️☁️☁️🌡️🌡️🌡️
Ron
A tip
Before sowing seed for grass drill or use a core airator to poke holes in ground
Then apply the seed and starter fert
Then top dress with sand to fill the holes this helps prevent seed washing away sure extra work but as they sat
Proper prior preparation prevents pour performance.
This is coming from a certified horticulturist 😉
Did you want to plow?
Hey Ron, Now a days you stop using Other Go-Pros on the big truck like you used to use for different angles. Now just hard hat one is there. I am fan of yours buddy. Really enjoy and learn technicalities watching you. God Bless.
January 1st. The morning after New Year's Eve. Car in a field. No driver and barefooted. Sounds like alcohol was involved on this one!
Ron, I am addicted to these videos! Could be worse things for sure! While the videos are great, you are doing something more important than towing and recovery. That is, you are following the example of Christ with your impartial compassion toward your fellow man. It comes through in every video you produce. Only thing you could do different is release one a day.🙂 (kidding) Have a Blessed Day! Murfreesboro TN
I do like the way you add the extra comments ( written in blue) . It helps to know the little but, still important thoughts. I've driven long school busses . My last one was a 10 speed and I held 103 students. It's funny that the school busses now have all had to go to automatics because no one drives sticks anymore. I can't imagine them using all the buttons you folks have on your trucks! Your boys are doing great! You're a great teacher and God bless you all for helping all the people.
I just had to rescue a little rollback 2 days ago with my 1ton wrecker. This is the "new" company in town that got sent to recover a pickup that decided to go off roading into a ravine.. he managed to get himself stuck good while trying to recover said pickup so they called me to recover both of em.. a fun time was had by none.. especially when the owner of the "new" company found out the "competition" had to save the day..(I'm really not competition I do strictly off road recoveries and my equipment is geared toward that.)
Sir you should have seen a mess that my dad got in to with a GMC Sierra wtpp hd . Got stuck in our front yard for like 3 days. Tried pulling it with utv.4wd ford f250 diesel.it was fun
Lots of people seem to be caught up in the muck boots thing, but I'd have to say that from my experience doing a lot of work in really muddy fields and job sites I'd rather have good, solid, lace-up boots than any type of slip-on boot that your feet slide around inside. I've used both a lot and except in deep manure I'll go with the regular boot over the muck boot for this type of work.
IF there's one thing Ron DOESN'T lack...it's a sense of humor while on the job! :)
A nice dirty way to start the New Year! I wonder who at the shop drew the short straw to wash the truck and respool the winch?
That would have been me. I couldn't leave it that way. I had to scoop the mud off the bed, rinse the bed, and then respool the cable. I did it immediately after dropping the car inside our fenced lot. Had to be ready for the next job. Thanks for watching and God bless.
@@RonPratt That is true leadership, Ron! I used the same approach once in the MI Army National Guard when the 1SG made me NCOIC of the detail to clean the Armory kitchen. I combined "Leading From The Front" with Mike Rowe and "Dirty Jobs". I took the deep sink and let the rest clean the stuff that couldn't be moved. It worked better than expected. 1SG was very happy with his clean kitchen! God Bless and I am looking forward to 2023 being full of you doing the tough, challenging and dirty jobs! Oh, and a Pratt fall or two!
Hi Ron,, and family Happy New Year..and I very much like the music..
You GOT to get the free-spool function on that winch fixed! A couple of big bolt holes on that V-block might allow you to insert a big bolt through and into a stake pocket or two and keep the V-block from sliding across the deck. Or, allow a loop passed through the hole and looped over the end of the block, with a hook on the loop to grab onto the edge of the deck and keep the block from sliding Hahaha - halfway through the video I saw the caption about fixing the winch free-spool! Well, at least you didn't have to worry about damaging the bumper.
Another idea , a " sheepshead " it's a unit that attaches to the end of the bed with rollers on each side , run the cable through it and makes side pulls much easier .
@@thomasfletcher760 Ron built his own. You can see it when he's getting the yankum rope out of the side box.
Happy New Year Pratt Family and Midwest Truck crew! I really enjoy the rollback videos because I am fairly new to the towing industry and I am assigned to a rollback as well. These videos have taught me quite a bit on different techniques and methods, especially on recoveries. Keep up the good work!!
Hei Ron, I guessing that the wv driver was trying to drive home from a party in the dark. I think someone had a little too much to drink. Unbelievable that didn´t flip over and landed upside down.
Good morning from Medford Oregon
Ron why don't you just use the roller back there instead of chasing that piece of wood
Nice work. I enjoy your videos. Wish for more
Happy New Year. Does anyone know where I can get one of these new VW plows? I might start a dealership for selling them.
How many ways can you say "sloshed?" Running, the international sign of guilt...😅
You need to stop video your driving to the accident spots wasting video time, also I keep fast forwarding to where the action starts, rest is really boring 😴
kids out for a joyride in the family car? Those boots weren't made for walking!
i just want to mention i understand why people get upset at the troopers for just towing there car a alot of people cant afford it b some of those cases these cars are "abandoned" and someone was probably just going to get someone to help them pull it out and your state seems to operate on the premise of tow it without notice and expect them to pay for the tow which is really scummy i understand this recovery and several others you shown since there on private property but theres also quite a few that are on county property that just get towed in my state atleast folks get 24-48 hrs before its towed(if its not on private property or part of an accident scene) also ron before you get upset im not saying the troopers are doing anything wrong i just think the trooper is being harsh/not understanding when he says he doesnt get why people get upset when he tows there vehicles calling 911 or even calling a non emergency line just to report that you crashed or already have someone coming to help you literally gets people put in jail for a misdemeanor (misuse of emergency and or government resources) so obviously people arent gonna call him first happy new year ron great recovery hope all our good thoughts and well wishes continue for those in this year too stay safe
