Hello from Oklahoma! Interesting video! What most people do not understand is that a vehicle that says its "4-wheel drive" but has open differentials, is basically a 2-wheel drive. One in the front gets power one in the back gets power. This pickup is a perfect example. Most 4x4 are sold with open differentials for liability reasons. It's an aftermarket thing to lock them up and turn them into a true 4-wheel drive vehicle. If You get limited slip or the like, at best you have 3-wheel drive. Of course, in greasy mud, tires play a big part.

A similar thing happened to me. These wet planted pine forests were once cypress forests. I got hung up an an ancient cypress stump. we did not know it and pulled it with everything we had but it would not budge. We dug all around and found the stump, jacked up the truck and cut some of it out with a chainsaw. The saw was half in the water and it kept dying. We would dry it out and cut some more. After 2 days of digging and cutting we were finally able to pull it out.

That Jeep does really well for its size and equipment. I would suggest a removable A frame for the front and/or back bumper, if possible to brace it, with a snatch block at the apex, about hood high, or higher. Also, having a 40 inch, or so, tractor rim to put under the cable, close to the vehicle being pulled out, so as to lift it some would help. This truck was hung up on an old tree root, or rock, or something foreign buried in the mud. Nice job.

*EDIT* (I was only seeing the first part of the winching when they first hooked up as I typed my comment. I see they ended up using the 2 to 1 (snatch block setup) that I suggested in my comments after watching more of the video.) *
Hey man, I would suggest you get yourself a snatch block and use it to multiply your pulling power when pulling out vehicles in these types of situatuions. This essentially doubles your winch's pulling capacity. Although it requires longer winch line or using somethIng else to attach to the winch line, it would help a lot. Also, you should put a blanket or winch cable cover or "winch damper" over your winch cable to try to prevent or at least minimize the possibility of your winch cable snapping back at you and knocking you out or killing you. I can see it wasn't "that stuck" so maybe you weren't putting that much stress on your winch but better to be safe than sorry when things are stuck in the mud. Sometimes they are "sucked" into the mud so you need that extra pulling power.

2 wheel drive.... wow,,, If you find yourself in a ford and one tire is just spinning. Reach down and pull the release on your emergency brake and hold it out. Then apply/feather a little of that emergency brake while you give it some gas. That will apply power to the other wheel that is on the ground and will probably get you enough traction to get you out.

The worst I've ever seen a truck stuck was a friend of mine who decided the best way out of this mudhole was to throttle it out. Fast forward to hooking up 3 trucks to it with winches and all 3 got dragged. It took upwards of 9 truck tethered together leading all the way back to hardball the get it out.

Water and mud cause suction under the tires. A slow winch from a heavy vehicle is the trick. Recommend 1.5x heavyer then the stuck vehical. Or find an anchor.
