Quite possibly one of the hardest winch outs imaginable, who thought Big Flipper wasn't going to be able to do it? Also what did everyone think of my use of the green screen this time compared to the first?
@@standishgeezer Thank you! Makes me happy reading that. I don't feel I'v'e mastered it, but I taught myself how to film and edit it in a day so I still need learning. I have found that family run companies, where the whole family is involved are almost always very successful. No corporate BS. Pepe's is a prime example.
Never doubted Big Flipper for a second, but it's not the truck, it's the operator that makes it sing! With Alex behind the controls, that truck can do anything! Love the green screen usage!
Alex, what a freakin great guy to have on the payroll. Knowledge. Of. Geometry, and Forces. An excellent example of knowing the "why" something works, and not just that it works. He, and yourself do this more consistently than almost anyone else I see on YT.
Josh, you should send Alex to Rotator School in Tennessee. He'll lard better techniques like preloading his brakes and suspension. He'll learn that putting his outriggers out for heavy wincing off the back can damage the truck severely. There is a video by Tom Luciano on RUclips that shows the proper way to do this. Being boomed out so far can also damage the boom. He got it out. Good for him. It could have been easier for him and the truck if he knew how to use it as it was designed. John Hawkins and Tom Luciano are great guys, and everybody learns something .
@DeepDownInTheOcean Yes sir! The first Pepe video I saw was the container that was twisting hulk, and I was thinking WHATS THIS GUY DOING! But as Ron says there's more than 1 way to 10.
Food for thought: small 10 minute sections of video where you show how your drivers/rotator operators have come up from towing or what evolution they made to get to a rotator, especially if they started someplace else(mechanic/warehouse) and evolved into a top notch operator for you. Gives depth and meaning to your fans and they will embrace your content even MORE than the amazing stuff you put out. Keep Up the great work Josh and "Just Call Pepe's!" 🙂
I think Josh said the Miller 100 ton is too big to be California legal. Which is too bad, Pepes is the only recovery channel I watch that I think could afford one.
I agree, I didn’t think big flipper was going to be able to do it alone! I guess the double (or triple) rigging really increases what you’re able to winch. Really amazing! Love the green screen, when I started watching your channel I thought you were filming this in your office!! Amazing! Congratulations on the baby, your wife must be very proud of you!
Would've been a lot easier if you had some decent pavement there, I can't believe they would run that unit over such bad pavement. Makes things even hard to put the stabilizers out, they can sink right through also. Worst part is those machines have minimal ground clearance, once they break the pavement they sink right down, but as always you boys always figure out a way to get the job done safely. Great job!
Now add in the occasional heavy rainstorms that LA gets and that lot would be a whole heap of fun! From all the videos I’ve seen a lot of these container storage and handling places are located on cheap land and the companies don’t want to spend anything more than absolutely needed to maintain their lots. That means either a cheap asphalt top( rebar concrete is way too expensive) or even a hard packed dirt lot as I saw in another of their videos. I guess it is cheaper to occasionally call out a rotator than spend money on lot maintenance.
The use of the green screens are perfect. We have the opportunity of seeing the reset if and when it's needed. The amount of weight the the tractors, trailers, and containers are expected to haul often exceed design.
Now we know. Adding the extra block increases the pulling power of the winch as well as strengthening the cables rating. What a beast. The rigging was very interesting to say the least. Would be nice to know where Alex picked up all the techniques he uses. We used this technique on the farm to lift heavy things like an engine block suspended by a tree branch. (block and tackle) Another great video. Thanks for posting!

I used to drive the old Pettibone forklifts. You sat on top, unprotected , no cab. Just a seat and controls dropped on top of a machine the size of a garage that could lift a mountain. Mine had been upgraded with two 50ton rams instead of the original 25. I used to carry cell phone tower sections , masts, and crane assembles. I had to wear polar fishermens gear in the winter/wettimes.Really , they bought it for me! it was like $1500. Josh and Alex are tops - they always know just what to do to get the job done and with Big Flipper and/or Hulk they always get the job done right . For the green screen maybe you could get the big rotators cleaned up and put them side by side diagonally and have a shot of that as a background on the green screen . I feel cheated tho that we didn't get to see Alex finish the job and get the containers moved - I mean am I wrong or is that not what we watch the channel for ? ( Just saying - no hate or heat intended ) Pepe's is #1 , I really admire the professionalism and how courteous the employees are when working with customers , that is what will get the company to grow .
Alex is the proud owner of BIG BAD FLIPPER,75 TON OF MUSCLE OF A TRUCK what's up Bro, no doubt you get the Job Done,I think that it probably the HEAVY-DUTY to get out, especially from the Dirt love this video bro.
WOW Josh, this ended up becoming a big job for Flipper, cause even with all of her 75-ton power, and running 4 winch lines with snatch blocks, she still wouldn't budge without extra assistance. Makes you want that new overpriced M100 wrecker doesn't it? LOL! I got to say 160,000 pounds of container forklift, is some serious weight! The yard needs to be using reinforced asphalt or whatever to handle those kinds of loads, no wonder it fell through! Lady was surprised Alex was recording, its like thats right, cause your insurance is going to want to see this. lol
Ya every now and then we get that one job that makes me think hmmm could the M100 have done it? Because I rarely get jobs I can't solo with Hulk, my 50ton. Flipper is 25tons stronger, and the M100 is 25tons stronger than that. Would be nice to play with one for a week
We ❤ watching your videos from PA!! I said to my husband when watching before, I said I wish you would put the text on screen when you speak spainish. And you did!! Thanks
i don't see that as insurance job. they would not pay since the pavement is crap and there was no damage except to the crap pavement . plus they likely have a huge deductible on their policy anyway. at least 100k maybe 250k deductible these days.or their rates are really high.
huge respect to Alex for doing this job solo! And I really like the addition of the green screen. It makes the brake down after the video more fun to watch.
Good job by Alex, using his available resources to get that thing out of the hole. Those things shouldn't be used on anything less than 6-inches of re-enforced concrete but, thankfully, Pepe's can get them out. As they say "Pay me now or pay me later". Good job with the green screen, too. Looking forward to the next one :-)
I think y'all are doing great and sorry I can't afford to get any merch right now I'm having to many issues myself but keep on trucking y'all I miss doing recoveries
In some of the background shots the yard is in disgusting condition for a container forklift. The subbase was pumping and the bitumen appeared to be to thin for the weight of the forklift. Did anybody check to see if the yard was rated for forklifts at this weight? I think not. Also the tow truck was pulling several times the forklifts weight due to drag of the gravel. I was impressed the tow truck didn't simply reel itself in even with spades deployed. Well done.
I honestly thought just to err on the side of caution he would have called a second truck once flipper got pulled back and off that pad. That was nuts 😮! Alex continues to surprise and amaze I’m sure not just me but all of us. As for the green screen it’s cool I like it. As you said makes it easier to highlight and enlarge certain things in the review. I’m glad you had a super back log of vids but dude don’t burn yourself out. Set up a few vids to have ready to go so if u need a break for a week or two you don’t have to worry about leaving us hanging and not having a video. And bonus, the green screen makes it easier to film a quick intro like a “hey guys, I have a ton of stuff going on, need a week or two to breathe/take vacation/etc. this is an older vid but still really good cause XYZ happened, lets get into it.” Then film a quick breakdown/review if you wanted and boom, done. I love the channel and vids but your health and well being is more important, always remember that.
Hey Josh, I really enjoy the recap or commentary at the end of the gigs. It clears up some questions and thoughts that come up while the job is in progress. Why this particular rigging, what slings/chains are appropriate for the task at hand. Also, I really like all the new technology as it lends that much more appeal to each of your video's. Keep learning Bro. Pretty soon you'll be on a Hollywierd set. lol.
Amazing work Alex. You really understand your rig. My hat is off to you, I have worked super heavy equipment (i.e. Komatsu 475 dozer, Hitachi 900 excavator Komatsu) among a few. Great job young man.
Unlike the excavator on its side, it was nice to see that this tophanndler had some lift and pull points. Also, I've never seen a pull heavy enough to require two boom lines to be 3-parted and two drag lines to be snatch-blocked.
Josh your doing great with the green screen. How about you make a full size background of the job your talking about. Say the rollover excavator driller. Have the green screen be a full size shout maybe from the drone. I love what your doing expanding with the technology, and like you said before what tow company is doing that! One thing I haven't seen lately is, you and Alex both would explain the Baily's sling ratings when your using them. That got us the viewer a little deeper into your thought processes and methods for each job. Love the explanations like this sling will be XXX in a straight pull and xxx in a basket. It would have been cool if Alex explained the weight ratio's for the 3 part line and then adding the deck winches which gave him xxx pulling power or rating. Love the channel guys keep it up!
First time I've seen Alex check the placard but not the first time I'm sure. That thing was a beast. Not often we seen the trucks move that much. The irresistible power of Big Flipper on display. Nice work getting that Hyster out of there and the yard cleaned up. Could you imagine having a rotator that could just pick one of those up and move it to solid ground? What a beast. Too big for the area though. The green screen is working out pretty well. Lighting while using one is tricky though.
Funny enough now one of those batteries in the back ground is now burning and you caught video that means they moved all those cells with no permits. That company runs everything so unsafe its incredible that they are still in business
Thats some size of a fork lift....I once worked on a Taylor f/lift at McDermott oil company ...it was a 120 ton lift capacity...stay safe Alex and see you soon
@@Kevin-go2dw Sounds something like doing a quick zero turn on a zero turn mower and that tears up the grass. But mowers don't weigh 160 tons and they use low pressure floatation type tires.
Great job Alex & Josh on the green screen. Next you'll be doing weather forecasting with the green screen 😂. Companies with huge loaders are going to have to use rated concrete like airports to for runways & taxi ways.
Amazing work as always from Alex. I'm loving the green screen use Josh, but if you're too slammed work wise to spend all the extra time on the fancypants editing tricks like that, don't sweat it. We can cope with a red circle when you're busy.

There might be a lot of trucks like big flipper but there is only one Alex 😆 lol
Alex got a workout on this job.
Thanks for answer, once he said he was going to three part the line i knew my question was answered
Great content as ever....
I love what you are doing mat
Great job Alex, Josh you owe Alex a Red Bull for this well done job. Watching from Calgary, Canada
I like your green screen, very interactive o your part. Thanks for your content
Nice work guys. I’m really enjoying the videos.👍
Another great video. Keep up with the after video summary they're great. That green screen is a creative tool. Keep up the good work.
Wow. Simply wow. And all the other superlatives I can think of.
Not only was the blacktop completely worn out, but it was laid on very unstable base.
For real. Maybe when they get that bill from Pepe's they'll figure out maybe, just maybe they ought to get a paving company in there... lmao
I bet the heat does not help. Also turning the steering wheels when not moving will also break the surface.
@@Kevin-go2dw Sounds something like doing a quick zero turn on a zero turn mower and that tears up the grass. But mowers don't weigh 160 tons and they use low pressure floatation type tires.
@@Kevin-go2dw And not only is the Hyster heavy, some of those 40' shipping containers can gross out to 67,000 lbs max rated weight.
@@brnmcc01Yup, a container handler like that will be grossing ~ 120 ton fully loaded with 80-90% of that weight concentrated on that front axle.
Genial con la pantalla 🟩👌🏽👍🏽👍🏽Un saludo desde Gran Canaria 🙋🏽
Green screen looks great - definitely thought you were in the office!
Fooled you! That means I'm getting good at this haha
First time watching your videos. Damn homeboy que chinga!!! I never realized how hard the job was. Saludos y respetos to you and every other man who does this work🍺
great job and nice green screen
