Yesss the remake they screwed up badly but this game is a timeless classic and you can play it over and over again. I love how detailed it is... In early computer games of course the graphic wasn't that great but they put lots of time and effort in details and gameplay
It's pretty interesting to hear the descriptions of these historical small arms from the perspective of a late 90s game designer. They definitely had done some research (though some of it sounds like it came from the pages of "Guns and Ammo" magazine...). Thanks for sharing!
I always thought that the ingame descriptions were meant to sound like something from "Guns and Ammo" (maybe the Canadian edition). It's why there are so many shots at Soviet and Russian weapons.
@@Empiro3 that's one of the things I absolutely love about this game. It's a strategy game but the fact it became a cult classic, other than cool gameplay, I would attribute to how it feels like a time machine. The weapon descriptions, whole tutorial questionary thingy, San Mona city, all ooze with 90s aesthetics and feel. While the recent mods that completely overhaul the game adding more gameplay functions, details, etc, the 90s thing completely flies over the creators' heads as the weapon descriptions are nowhere as symbolic and you can get your hands on modern day gear.
I love the progression in original JA2. From having to make do with pistols, to being amazed by your first SMGs and Mini-14, to the heavy weaponry. So satisfying to use that mortar on a cluster of baddies, or taking out tanks with the LAWs found in the weapons cache. Only the rocket rifles are a bit of a dissonant.
I think the 1.13 has spoiled me a little. The original JA 2 had a shockingly smaller variety of weapons. Although many of the 1.13 are essentially identical to each other.
IMO the default list was a pretty good who's who of handguns that you'd see in a place like Arulco. The only problem with 1.13 extensive lists is that there's too many prototypes that didn't go anywhere.
A story about what became my most loved guns to pick up in any JA game: i was using Wildfire mod and this all happened about 8 years ago on an otherwise normal playthrough. Which when i think about it now just goes to show how much those guns made the playthrough stick out from the dozen others ive done over the years. What happened during an otherwise normal clearing of a mine complex: i saw a guy on the edge of roof on a building, took him out and his body fell off the roof. I went to take a look at what he dropped and found TWO Desert Eagles, with modifications on them. I thought "cool, lets see whats on these, maybe i can use them on my other guns". Well, these two were identical with the same attachements, both had a laser scope and a silencer. What made these special was that you couldnt attach a silencer to a Desert Eagle yourself in Wildfire, for obvious game balance reasons. With .357 hollow point ammo Ira Smythe became the bane of Deirdrannas forces as her ambidextrous trait, paired with two silenced hollow-point-slinging handcannons was Death in human form in the dark. Kind of reminds me now of playing Hitman 2 and figuring the dual silenced ballers can fling a human body straight over and across a swimming pool by the weight of headshots.
That sounds awesome. And heck yeah, stealth by night (I usually stuck to throwing knives with Shadow) is one of the coolest way to fight, especially because that way you can get away with small squads. I'm not even sure I ever played Wildfire. Only JA2 all the time, sometimes 1.13, and twice ran through Unfinished Business.
My personal favorites: -AK74 -C7 -Steyr AUG -Colt Commando -MAC-10(Really good when silcened for night ops due to its high damage) -FN-FAL(Combine a rod and spring with this and you'll feel sorry for whoever is on the other end of this gun)

Speaking of which, it really sucks that there's barely any innovation in the Counter Strike "sequels", and it sucks they took out all the cool stuff they showed (Pancor Jackhammer, M60, tear gas, etc.), All because of balancing issues So instead all we got was Counter Strike 1.6 but with slightly updated graphics, details, sounds, etc. Along with a campaign, that released at the same year as Counter Strike Source came out
Good video! It's been so long since I've played JA2. To this day it is my favourite game. My favourite rifle is always G11(after killing Mike). With spring and rods etc it would be action points super cheap to shoot. Just a big problem with ammo. My other guys would have C7 rifle and all with the attachments so also cheap to shoot and lots of ammo around. JA3 is coming out in 2 days man are you excited? It looks very good
FAMAS is the best CQB weapon and FAL is the best long range weapon (except SVD of course). C7 and AUG are also pretty good for short and long range respectively with C7 being a good all-around weapon for almost all situations. Actually same goes to FAL so FAL is superrior to C7. Forget it, FAMAS and FAL are the best. MAC-10 is the only good option for stealth but stealth works only in early-to-mid game. In late game your only option is to rely on combat knives in stealth. Firearms that can be suppressed and throwing knives won't reliably kill blackshirts and if I remember right even not all of the redshirts.
@@ClanIwan Hmmmm, i liked the gore and blood in Jagged Alliance 2 but for my taste it should be even way more brutal. Almost every child play today Last of Us 2 were the blood and gore isnt bad at all imo.
by the way, maybe you don't know, the AKM penetrates through a railway rail - this is 16-20 mm (in the American measurement system - 0.6-0.7 inches) We tested this at military training camps. So when they show American films, when they shoot from an AKM at a car, and only flashes are visible on it , we always laugh :)

Speaking of which, it really sucks that there's barely any innovation in the Counter Strike "sequels", and it sucks they took out all the cool stuff they showed (Pancor Jackhammer, M60, tear gas, etc.), All because of balancing issues
So instead all we got was Counter Strike 1.6 but with slightly updated graphics, details, sounds, etc. Along with a campaign, that released at the same year as Counter Strike Source came out
@@OperatorMax1993 That's it!
@@АлександрКобяков-м3щ yeah!
the best game ever
21:33:Here it would seem that in other games this will not happen, but no.Almost the same is in Far Cry 2)
Well the mortar in Far Cry 2 is the Type 63, but it is close
What are the shotguns loaded with by default if not buckshot?
6:32:I definitely saw this one in the Rainbow Six series)
Also in the SWAT 4 Elite Force Mod, COD Black Ops 1 and MW2 '09
It looks very good
Sooooo..... when is it due?
My personal favorite is C7..
i love the C7 too, it feels like a classic M16A1
Question: How did you get all the weapons in JA2 in Day 1?
Using the savegame editor
You missed the Mauser C96 though.
Didn't know there was a C96
Made me remember the M712 from 7.62 Hard Caliber though
Why the blood & gore is not showing or did you not enable it ?
age restrictions is a b... eatiful feature.
@@ClanIwan Hmmmm, i liked the gore and blood in Jagged Alliance 2 but for my taste it should be even way more brutal. Almost every child play today Last of Us 2 were the blood and gore isnt bad at all imo.
@@lobonocturno420 I'm 1 year late, or 8 months late, but even Warlockracy showed off the blood and gore on his videos
@@OperatorMax1993 1 year late lol and am 1 day late. Didnt see any blood effects though. Btw are you excited about Jagged Alliance 3 ?
@@lobonocturno420 wait a minute I recognize you again!
And yeah I am excited and looking forward to Jagged Alliance 3!
How the enemy can standing agian after dying ?
ALT + L
Singed many an Eyebrow!
love ja2. more with 113.
minimi or H&K G11 for Ice - C-7 or H&K 21 for others, rocket rifles sucks ;p Damn i love this game....
no one ever do a proper review on this game
What do you think of 2 Headed Hero's "Why is Jagged Alliance 2 (PC) the BEST RPG Game?"? That one got made since your comment :D
Yeah, you also got Warlockracy's video on JA2
by the way, maybe you don't know, the AKM penetrates through a railway rail - this is 16-20 mm (in the American measurement system - 0.6-0.7 inches) We tested this at military training camps. So when they show American films, when they shoot from an AKM at a car, and only flashes are visible on it , we always laugh :)
У Калаша ломаться особо нечего по факту. Но в игре все иначе описано.
I am worried about the third installment in development... it looks too cartoony and light hearted. The combat looks watered down too.
