- Hey, guys. In today's video, I am going to show how to do a Cabergén which is a crystal made out of acrylic. OMG! How exciting?
So, I have already prepped the nail and applied a tip. I am now going to dehydrate the nail with the Nail Prep Dehydrator and then add a little bit of the Acid Based Primer to the nail plate. I am going to, first of all, create a natural looking nail so that when Olivia wants to change her design we can just e-file off the gel polish and create a new look.
To create the natural nail I am using the Natural Acrylic Powder and then just dragging that over the natural nail plate and then I'm going to add a layer of True Pink and then I'm going to just blend that into the nail. I will then pinch it for a while and then I'm going to file and buff this bad boy into shape.
Finally, for the design, we are going to add two coats of Royal Blood, cure that and then apply the Urban Grafitti Topcoat. We are now going to add another thin layer of the Urban Grafitti Topcoat and then we are going to add a metallic ring to the middle of the nail.
We are now going to start sculpting out the crystal, so I am gonna add a bit of the gorgeous Carnival in Rio to the middle of the ring and then build that out so it looks like a crystal and when that's dry we are going to add the Urban Grafitti Topcoat to it to seal it in and then we are going to add four of the gold microbeads so that they look like clasps holding the crystal down and then to finish we are going to add two metal rods to the top of the design to make it look like a necklace and then a little stud underneath the crystal to give off that necklace look!

I got new wrinkles in my forehead from cringing as he abused that woman's cuticles. I even did a search for "nail tech reacts to alexander stepanov", but nothing came up. I NEED a quality nail tech to comment on his technique because I know it can't be right (and this is someone who neither does nails nor has ever had her own nails done).
Cabochon
A cabochon is a gemstone which has been shaped and polished as opposed to faceted. The resulting form is usually a convex obverse with a flat reverse. Cutting en cabochon is usually applied to opaque gems, while faceting is usually applied to transparent stones. Hardness is also taken into account as softer gemstones with a hardness lower than 7 on the Mohs hardness scale are easily scratched, mainly by silicon dioxide in dust and grit. This would quickly make translucent gems unattractive-instead they are polished as cabochons, making the scratches less evident.

Something like this. I tried placing individual glitter pieces on my nails in a heart shape once and i forgot how to breathe XD. Didn't work out but I was just messing around anyway, nothing professional :)
Very nice! I've been sitting on a necklace idea, too. I want to do a Native American squash blossom necklace in silver mirror powder and turquoise and coral gel polish. I think it would look spectacular as an accent nail in a faded blue jeans set of nails.
I'd really LOVE to see Kirsty do a whole set of nails honoring the new Doctor Who that just premiered on Sunday. It's the first time the Doctor has regenerated as a woman, and the Whovians I know already love her! Ms. Whittaker is an absolutely wonderful Doctor. There should be a galaxy nail, maybe with a little TARDIS flying through it, a full nail TARDIS, maybe one with a Cyberman head, one with a Dalek, one with a weeping angel, one with little watch parts, one with Gallifreyan text, you get the idea. *Please, please, please* do a Doctor Who set!!!

I'll probably have to do the squash blossom nail on a full coverage plastic nail, as I don't wear my own nails long enough to accommodate something as large and intricate as a squash blossom necklace. But I will let you know when I do. :-)

Pretty! Although I prefer those that have a thin layer of glitter on the bottom and then the dome is built with clear gel/acrylic. That looks just beautiful!

No she doesn't remove it, she applies the second coat directly on top of the first one :)

Why is it that my top coat from urban graffiti runs bad if I leave it on the nails while trying to do something else without curing it right away? So then it gets all on the side of the fingers really bad even doing thin layers
It is a very thin gel polish, however, if the temperature of the environment is hot, this makes it even thinner :)
