- Since the installation of the sport button, i have noticed the many popping sounds when shifting at 2000 rpm, on the overrun or when downshifting.
This is one of the best features a Mini cooper S has.
so it makes pops n bangs with a fkin stock exhaust? thats sick
Sport basically remaps the car, transmission, fuel map (which is where the pop comes from) etc. They are like little track cars. It also tightens the steering. Electric Steering no pump. Some pop more or less based on temperature, gas used etc.

I looked at Genesis Coupes, G37s's, Golf GTIs, Abarth 500s, Miatas, Mazdaspeed 3s, and IS 350s in these past 2 years. This video alone just sold me on Mini Coopers.

I love my R58 S. Discovered the exhaust pop after I bought it.
When decelerating under 2000 rpm my legacy burbles no exhaust note just pop, pop :P Sounds good man, it'll be even more dramatic with and aftermarket exhaust :)

I do that with my stock Cooper S 2005 (without any sport mode) 😂

my 2008 r56 with this exhaust terminal never crackles while I drive it, but only when stationary. how is it possible that yours has the bang and mine doesn't? do you have a free or silenced exhaust system?
I believe there are some changes between the pre-LCI and the LCI cars. This was a LCI R56 with the sportbutton and the stock silenced exhaust.

It should also pops when being in sport mode. I am not sure but it might pop less between shifts, because you don't release the gas pedal.

My R56 S doesn’t do it, even in Sport mode 😢

abdalla elsheikh When you push that button your engine won't go off if you're in neutral.
Where did you buy this shift Knob?
It's the OEM Mini carbon shiftknob. I bought it at the Minidealer but you can find them online as well.

Not sure just picked up the car I’m down to 3 things one vaccine line was off the box in the back, so either it needs new vac lines have to pick some up, the gate isn’t adjusted right or worn, or the timing is off a tooth. Been waiting for a warm day
Let’s just say when I looked at the car the owner praised the mechanic that installed the clutch.
I get it home on my lift the rear trans mount bolt to the housing was finger loose and about to fall out so I’m gonna have to say it needs to all be looked over because if he was messing with the clutch you know he was messing with the turbo😂
thats weird. my exhausts pops significantly louder than this and I have a stock R56...
amays86 After making this video i have noticed some louder pops but not all the time.I think it pops louder after you've driven the car at higher rpm.The Gopro is also not a good device to capture the sound.

It also depends wether you have the n14 or n18 engine. My n14 always pops doesnt matter if its in sport or not. My parents have a paceman jcw and that only pops in sports mode. Check the video on my channel, thats my r56 n14 with no sport mode 😊
@@MrFuxhound that’s right it pops a lot more and louder when the exhaust has warmed up as it is the heat in the exhaust that causes the pops in the first place.

I'm a year late, but the 2007-2010 R56 mini s (n14 engine) don't pop without a tune.
what rear bumper is that?
It is a JCW rear bumper with the GP2 diffuser.
Did you remap the car?
Nope, everything was stock.
My toyota 20 valve gurgles much louder and actually spits out flames, sometimes blue or orange depending on my fuel mix, I use octane boost every so often with an injector cleaner and it's explosive. It sounds like gunfire when it spits, if you have ever seen a 2jz spit, it's similar, looks awesome at night, I sometimes see the flash in my rear view off guard rails, have to make a video sometime.

@@miserablecherry7651 This car wasn't modded. Full stock exhaust. Not sure if it makes a difference (some say it does) but i used only 98 octane fuel.

Nope, my stock R53 does it too, and it's a 2005 car...
Mini added it back to the R56 in the later years as a remap when the sport mode is active, I think 2010 was when it was added. But yeah the stock ones all do this in sport mode from 10 or 11 on.

My r56 does this without sport mode engaged and its as stock as it can be 🤷🏻♂️
I always use octane 98 and it's the n14 engine

If you have an r53, buy a manual. It's so worth it.
less pops in the automatic mini and tranny is bad it slips therefore it cannot reach its top speed, but the manua minil can reach its top speed without cutting out and its cheaper to maintain and has less problems .
meschio I would never have an R56 auto personally, manual for life... if I wanted more pops and bangs I’d get it from tuning and upgrading
That's not stock I have a 2011 mini and I put an aftermarket too, nice rear diffuser too, need to lower it!

DAS hört sich alles nach NICHTS an!!!GÄÄÄHN!! Hatte vorher nen BMW e36 323i mit Eisenmann Auspuff..der machte Klang u Mega Sound!!! Bastuck bei BMW auch Mega hardcore!!! Habe jetzt nen Mini Cooper S R 56 mit 220Ps mit Bastuckanlage..Sound gleich Null :-(..das ist nichts gegen Bastuck bei BMW..trotz Sportauspuff Edelstahl von Bastuck ne FLÜSTERTÜTE bei Mini Cooper s R56!!!
