@@Gargobunny I think there's a difference though between those themes being "hidden" in the pokedex entries and them being in the actual visual designs of the pokemon.
I thought that that it was more love for Castform. Like giving it some kind of utility would be nice, even if it is just helping another Pokémon. It doesn't deserve more than that.
Those aren’t “sarcophagus cocoons”, those are canopic jars, which were used to hold the vital organs of the deceased, so that the body could be properly embalmed and buried
I think it would make more sense if a bird pokemon had eggs and if there was a certain other bird in the party. The egg would have a chance of hatching into the dark flying bird.
I think it should be a rarer form that has its own entry and looks very similar but a bit bigger and a slightly different color. Prolly shouldn't have a subtle shiny tho
What if instead it has two abilities with one of the abilities being swarm which causes it to evolve into the brood parasite Mon- that seems much more unique and less annoying then a 25% chance

The anubis one is actually duamutef, one of the 4 sons of horus. But yes; I was a huge mythology geek as a kid, too. I like the designs of each god and demon, but the stories are kinda raunchy; I'm talking to you, semen covered lettuce that set ate!
we need more pokémon that end up with more than one after evolving, i love shedinja to death (pun intended), but one is not enough one could argue that it'd make the shedinja line less unique, but i think wonderguard is still plenty of a cool gimmick i'd also love to see someone explore how the concept could work with a non-ghost-type although since ghost is my favorite type, i wouldn't complain about it getting more cool reps
Canipak: The Hunting Pair Pokémon. Normal/Psychic. Evolves into Hoxhunt and Trajar at level 21 if there is an open slot in the party (unlike shedinja, the split Evo is required). "It was originally believed that the two bodies of Canipak were two different Pokémon in a symbiotic relationship. More recent evidence has shown that the two are not only genetically identical, but even hatch from the same egg. In spite of having two bodies, they are one Pokémon and share a mind. Because of this, the pair hunts in perfect synchronicity" Hoxrun: the Chasedown Pokémon. Normal type. "Hoxrun are able to run for weeks on end when hunting. In spite of their small stature, they take down prey much larger than themselves. Due to the size of the catch, other scavenging Pokémon also join in on the meal. Their ability to bring down large opponents seems to stem from their hunting strategy. Small prey can hide in places that Hoxrun can't get to them, but large prey is unable to hide and is forced to either fight or run" Trajar: the Cornering Pokémon. Psychic type. "Trajar have powerful psychic abilities that let them read the minds of and predict the future of their prey. They are also excellent at burrowing and building, making elaborate traps to help them on their hunts. It was originally thought that the prey in Trajar's traps was routinely stolen by wild Hoxruns, but recent studies into this Pokémon's Behavior and psychic abilities indicate that it may be leaving the food on purpose for an unknown reason" These three are based on the symbiotic relationship between Badgers and Foxes, as well as how friendships formed when you are kids can easily break as interests diversify. If it wasn't clear, Trajar is leaving behind prey for its original Hoxrun, and is almost always one of the scavengers taking advantage of Hoxrun's tendency to hunt things too large for it to eat by itself.
Those Egyptian jar Pokemon are awesome though. Other Pokemon games could explore regions or time periods based on iconic/well-known historical empires.
It would depend on how the pokemon summary appears imo. If the evolution happens (and new pokemon appears) in an area where you haven't caught your encounter, that is your encounter for that area. Similar to how gift eggs work.
Ive had a fakemon design for a while now where it starts as a little skeletal ghost boy wearing a poncho and carrying a stick. It pokes at desert carcasses with its stick in search of the perfect skull to befriend. It evolves when it finds the skull it searches for- it gets a bit bigger, growing into the poncho and gaining some pattern to its garb. The stick becomes more like a walking stick and has now had the skull mounted on it. It can be seen skipping around, playing with its new steed, and occasionally taking off its own head and wearing the other skull It then evolves again, more maturely proportioned and missing the poncho, now with very flashy strings of beads and tassels on what look like a jacket and chaps. the stick and skull have fused into a ghostly horse, secondary typing of fire(rapidash), ground(mudsdale), electric(zebstrika), normal(tauros), or an extremely rare fairy(galar rapidash), based upon what skull it picked up. It can often be seen on the back of its mount, holding its own skull in the crook of its arm and racing across the desert. Kid poking dead things with a stick -> kid playing with a hobby horse -> dullahan cowboy
I'm doing a Lego Pokemon, where the 3 evos are "The 3 In 1 Pokemon", and use the same parts as each other, just arranged differently into a bug, a warrior, or a dragon.
Just the other day me and a friend were discussing a rotom-like origami pokemon that would fold into different things and change type (e.g. Crane for flying, boat for water, butterfly for bug, etc).
The concept of things evolving based on what else is in the party is the most interesting thing to me, kinda reminds me of a thought I had regarding breeding: where the offspring can look like both parents. Breaking out the punnet squares

Sometimes the pokecommunity is better at designing Pokémon than Pokémon themselves because all of these designs are amazing. It would be fantastic additions to the game 😭😭😭
Is it just me or does the deer pokemon actually deserve being an actual pokemon because of how clever the design is. 🙃

I actually drew a mimikyu evolution concept once
I love how one of the deer evolutions has the head on a mounting thing that's used to hang it on walls

the yarn ball was maybe one of the coolest fakemon designs i’ve ever seen. that’s SO creative!!!!
If you snuck the yarn evolution line designs into the Galar dex no one would even bat an eye. The artist NAILED the Pokemon art style to a T!
I think that ending up with a different amount of Pokémon is an interesting concept
Some of those replicate the pokemon art style very well and I could definitely see them in a game

The headless deer gives me headless horseman vibes
I was thinking that, too. That's why I think the term "dullahan" -- another name for the headless horseman -- might be involved in the pokemon's name.
As a knitter/crocheter, I would instantly add the yarn pokemon to my team, no questions asked.
Darksylvania is one of the best fakemon artists out there and theyve been around for a while i love their regi concepts
The scarf/gloves/hat one is my favourite -- so charming and the one that looks the most like it could be a real Pokémon imo
I liked all of them but that last one was especially amazing.
That origami concept in genius, truly.
That yarn knitting pokémon is actually dope af, all three evos are so cool
Holy fuck they all sound genius and look amazing
The last one with the bug type is amazing
Those Egyptian ones aren't really cacoons, they're based on the jars your organs would be placed into during the mummification process
This does not, in fact, make them not cocoons. It just means that the design is creative and well thought out.
I love the Egyptian scarab one, it’s so clever and has so many mythology references!
