What A LOT of speculators keep forgetting about these starters is their middle/teen/ second stage evolution…WHICH IS KEY to actually knowing who it won’t be. Tepid would not be chosen bc Pignite could not evolve into anything else than a sumo wrestler, as it’s already suited up to be one. Emboar couldn’t really look any different as a sumo wrestler (especially in a Paris setting), unless Pignit didn’t have the straps or suit look already in it. Whereas Raboot does not scream Soccer Player, but just sporty kicker…so Raboot has more options for alternate designs for its final evolution than Tepig. Another example is Grotle, as it’s basically a mini garden that could grow into any kind of tree or plant design, so it has many variations. Torracat could evolve into staying on all four legs and having that Sabre tooth look. But Prinplup of course could have many future forms since it’s so simple, so it has to be Empoleon for every reason. I wouldn’t count Crocanaw out, but Prinplup has a lot more reasoning to be.

It has a rival in a Galar Starter variant (Duke of Wellington) (If GF picked Totodile, then PL: Unova won't have anything) >Litten. 1700s Aristocrat. It saps blood from opponents (Leech Life) it can also sap a random stat from an opponent. It likes being clean and will spend days on this. (What will PL: Greece use if Kalos uses Tepig? What will PL: Brazil use if Kalos uses Scorebunny?) The trio are chosen by the Aura Trio, and they also have an RPG (Cleric/Tyrant/Vampire) while also having a French theme.
According to a new pokemon card pack its looking like it will be Totodile, Litten and Turtwig. These 3 are featured on a pack releasing this year that has almost an exact replica format of a pack that came out before legends arceus. That pack's cover featured Oshawott, Cyndaquil and Rowlet.

@sarah31537 Yeah, I think fennekin and the other 2 kalos starters will be our second group of starters and will be the ones to be given mega evolutions but snivy, piplup and scorbunny will be the starters we get to choose at the beginning of the game, those ones will be given kalosian forms for their final evolutions
Animal Farm was mostly a commentary on Communism as many characters were used to represent Stalin, Lenin and such, I feel like while it’s an interesting connection you’ve drawn between that and a possibility for Emboar I feel like it might still be a stretch, but it was a fascinating similarity you saw and one that does have merit
I'm very excited for a Metal-type Torterra, but I'm hoping for the Litten line to receive an alternate final stage instead of incineroar, like a Fire/Ground type tiger, more in line with torracat. However, i do acknowledge that Tepig fits Kalos much better
I'm still rolling with the 2, 5, and 7 gen pokemon. It would just be really weird to suddenly go 2, 4, 5. Plus, it'd be weird to just give blatant bias to certain starters in a trio and then completely ignore the others forever. Granted, Charizard did get 2 Megas, and then a G-Max form first... but Charizard is a special case imo. Blaziken got a mega, too, and then a year later, the other Hoenn starters received one. I'm still thinking Totodile, Litten, and Snivy, or Chikorita, Tepig, and Poplio. I'm hoping for the first trio, as those are all my favorite picks in each game, but I'm satisfied with either. My Squad is definitely Full Gen 2 starters, Let them get the spotlight for the new Mega Evolution. It's very unfair that Gen 1 got and then skip Gen 2, It should be in order. Mega-Meganium (grass-fairy) it's very obvious that meganium can be fairy type considering it's design, they just have to add something twist or add-ons to it. Mega-Ferraligator (water-poison) just because grass againts water and poison against fairy. Finally, Mega-Typhosion. Fire-Dragon (my best option), Fire-Steel, or Fire-Fighting type.
Out of all starter prediction vids I’ve seen so far, this is the most interesting! I’m totally onboard for a Water/Poison Feraligatr, Grass/Steel Torterra, and Fire/Dark Emboar (I chose Dark due to the FreRev, Poison I feel should be obvious).
I'm going to stick to my first guess, being Snivy, Piplup, and Torchic. I know Blaziken has a mega, but I don't think they'll have the Lumiosen starters (or whatever they plan one calling them) mega evolve.
Here is the break down before people ask: I believe the legends series will all future a starter roster from diffrent regions. We will not get gen 6 or 1 starters because they will be in the wild like gen 4 starters were in PLA. Both sets of starters exist in the regional kalos dex. I also think gens 2,5, and 7 would not appear as these generations lent starters to PLA. Finally gen 9 starters we will not get as this game is part of the same generation, seeing the same pokemon feature in two games back to back as starters is not a good move on TPC.
Another one I'll get ahead of: No I don't think we should disregard gen 3 starter as there base finals have Megas. I believe that ZA will eaither not mega evolve the Lumosion form finals or grant each za starter an Luminosian- mega
I don’t think they’d do a 2 starters from the same Generation. Totodile seems very unlikely considering Gen 2 got a lot of love in L:A and Cyndaquil (being in the Johot trio) was already used. Same logic goes for Tepig. Turtwig, Popplio and Scorbunny make sense. But they could throw us curveball and use one of the 3 Paldean starters considering Paldea and Kalos have a lot ties between them.

Snivy and Piplup have those connections, making them the most likely grass and water type starters. Scorbunny has the connections because it's a soccer player, but Torchic is based on the French national animal, which is the rooster. Blaziken already got a mega evolution, probably because of the connections I mentioned, so Scorbunny is the most likely option. I'm definitely going with Snivy if this turns out correct, since it's my favorite of these three, I use Scorbunny a little too much, and I just used Empoleon in Legends Arceus when I did a run with only water types. Plus, I chose Oshawott in my first playthrough of Legends Arceus, so it makes sense I choose the starter from the same region in the next Legends game.
i personally think that snivy and empoleon are just such obvious options for Z-A, as those pokemon already have ties to france like how the Arceus starters all had ties to japan. i’m not sure whether the fire starter will be scorbunny or litten though (i doubt it will be tepig, as tepig is based off of chinese culture. the obvious french royalty tie in is both snivy, which is actually based on europe, and empoleon, for the reason you brought up) cinderace definitely works as a football pokemon as football is almost as big in france as it is in the UK and the UK and france already have a lot of historical ties, but litten works well, especially for the time period, being a typical sort of french alley cat (which have received many movies *because* of how typical they are). or maybe i’m biased because i really like incineroar lol. i also think rowlet gets way more special attention than litten does even before Arceus so i dont think incineroar wont get in just because of it’s praise. i think i’d rather it be snivy, piplup and litten (bcz again i love litten) but i’d understand if its scorbunny
The city in ZA is in Kalos, you can see it on the map on bulbapedia, we know Kalos is based on France. Why wouldn’t they just give Megas the to Gen 6 starters. But if you going to have a regional variant, you wouldn’t have the French Pokémon, Chespin, Froakie, and Fennekin. Sinnoh was Hisui, the starter aren’t gen 4. Those three make sense connecting France, Japan & NY. Hisui connecting Japan, NY & Hawaii. It would make sense to have a historical connection to France for the variants for the new starters.
I'm 100% picking totodile unless they make it like the thumbnail, looks so mean and dark with the ?poison? type. It would make him lose his bites everything without thinking but without bad intentions vibe. Make my boi a water+fairy type gamefreak pls pls pls pls :((

As much as i want the treecko line to be the grass starter I know its basically impossible. Even though its been 11 years since it hasn't been in the games. Only recently has it appeared in BDSP and only being tradable in games before it.
I like how people skip Torchic when the national animal of France is literally a chicken plus Torchic got its mega in x and y and was in ORAS and was the same mega they could do the same here too.
3:49 scorbunny will probably be one of the starters because ZA is based in France and cinder ace is a soccer player and soccer is super popular in france
So, I always thought I was going to be piplup, snivy, and torchic after seeing them posted next to the PLA starters in promotional pictures for the Blueberry Academy DLC in Scarlet and Violet. However, in all fairness… They could have merely been hinting at the fact that legends ZA would be taking place in France, which we of course now know. I've heard some hints dropped by a popular leaker, Riddler Khu, who said that merch would be dropping soon with the starters for PLZA. since then, shortly there after actually, they did drop some merch that included piplup, snivy and.....Scorbunny. Now again, you may be on the right track, they may be doing a bunch of things to make us believe one thing and then just go completely different direction for your typical bait and switch, but by the same token I don't think they're nearly as creative as you're giving them credit for. An interesting thing that you haven't necessarily talked about though or I didn't catch it at least, is how these three would play against each other in terms of typing… Like if you can't make the typing makes sense in a Mexican standoff fashion, I think it throws wrenches into your gears here. A steel grass type Torterra becomes 4x weak to fire...the totodile you're proposing seems like it's water/poison (which is also hackneyed at this point) gives it no added benefit unless you're suggesting emboar will become fire/fairy.
I doubt any of the French looking ones will be the starters since they’d be getting a new variant that makes them no longer French ? Probably have those ones spawn more commonly in the wild

Partly becuase he’s awesome but mostly because Empoleon already has a good secondary typing. I always used to think Feraligatr was a dark type. Even if he doesn’t gain that type it would be cool to not only see a redesign of such a cool looking Pokémon but to see it finally get a second typingz

All right, so let me put my thoughts down. I definitely think this was the most accurate video based on logic and reasoning. I don’t agree with the grass choice like I’m thinking it’s gonna be the least loved grass starter That’s gonna get a rework which is definitely not Turtwing or snivy. It’s chikorita. But on the off chance it is snivy their final form definitely won’t be dragon type it completely shatters the “each starter has its advantages over other” because with the dragon type, it completely out classes, the other starters by a longshot which is why Charizard mainly wasn’t a dragon type

i personally think that snivy and empoleon are just such obvious options for Z-A, as those pokemon already have ties to france like how the Arceus starters all had ties to japan. i’m not sure whether the fire starter will be scorbunny or litten though (i doubt it will be tepig, as tepig is based off of chinese culture. the obvious french royalty tie in is both snivy, which is actually based on europe, and empoleon, for the reason you brought up) cinderace definitely works as a football pokemon as football is almost as big in france as it is in the UK and the UK and france already have a lot of historical ties, but litten works well, especially for the time period, being a typical sort of french alley cat (which have received many movies *because* of how typical they are). or maybe i’m biased because i really like incineroar lol. i also think rowlet gets way more special attention than litten does even before Arceus so i dont think incineroar wont get in just because of it’s praise.
i think i’d rather it be snivy, piplup and litten (bcz again i love litten) but i’d understand if its scorbunny

The city in ZA is in Kalos, you can see it on the map on bulbapedia, we know Kalos is based on France. Why wouldn’t they just give Megas the to Gen 6 starters. But if you going to have a regional variant, you wouldn’t have the French Pokémon, Chespin, Froakie, and Fennekin. Sinnoh was Hisui, the starter aren’t gen 4. Those three make sense connecting France, Japan & NY. Hisui connecting Japan, NY & Hawaii. It would make sense to have a historical connection to France for the variants for the new starters.

Snivy, Litten, Totodile will be the 3 starters. I think they will use the same three regions as they did with Legends Arceus.
Also to add since we just finished BDSP as well as PLA, I doubt any of the Sinnoh starters would be the choice when they are already available in two games that just came out 3 years ago.

As much as i want the treecko line to be the grass starter I know its basically impossible. Even though its been 11 years since it hasn't been in the games. Only recently has it appeared in BDSP and only being tradable in games before it.

So, I always thought I was going to be piplup, snivy, and torchic after seeing them posted next to the PLA starters in promotional pictures for the Blueberry Academy DLC in Scarlet and Violet. However, in all fairness… They could have merely been hinting at the fact that legends ZA would be taking place in France, which we of course now know. I've heard some hints dropped by a popular leaker, Riddler Khu, who said that merch would be dropping soon with the starters for PLZA. since then, shortly there after actually, they did drop some merch that included piplup, snivy and.....Scorbunny. Now again, you may be on the right track, they may be doing a bunch of things to make us believe one thing and then just go completely different direction for your typical bait and switch, but by the same token I don't think they're nearly as creative as you're giving them credit for. An interesting thing that you haven't necessarily talked about though or I didn't catch it at least, is how these three would play against each other in terms of typing… Like if you can't make the typing makes sense in a Mexican standoff fashion, I think it throws wrenches into your gears here. A steel grass type Torterra becomes 4x weak to fire...the totodile you're proposing seems like it's water/poison (which is also hackneyed at this point) gives it no added benefit unless you're suggesting emboar will become fire/fairy.

Because when you explained it I went “woah that sounds like a cool story beat!” And Pokémon is incapable of creating good game stories 😂😂😂 seriously tho I’d love to see Totodile. Partly becuase he’s awesome but mostly because Empoleon already has a good secondary typing. I always used to think Feraligatr was a dark type. Even if he doesn’t gain that type it would be cool to not only see a redesign of such a cool looking Pokémon but to see it finally get a second typingz

All right, so let me put my thoughts down. I definitely think this was the most accurate video based on logic and reasoning. I don’t agree with the grass choice like I’m thinking it’s gonna be the least loved grass starter That’s gonna get a rework which is definitely not Turtwing or snivy. It’s chikorita. But on the off chance it is snivy their final form definitely won’t be dragon type it completely shatters the “each starter has its advantages over other” because with the dragon type, it completely out classes, the other starters by a longshot which is why Charizard mainly wasn’t a dragon type
