This video literally depicts a perfect Legends game for the Kalos region. The idea of the Prism Tower secretly being the recreation of the ultimate weapon is genius. Honestly this concept is so good that it just makes me even more disappointed that the game will most likely just be in the city. I honestly would way prefer to explore ancient Kalos than just ancient Lumiose. Great video though, it helps the hype for this game when the hype season has been so dry so far.
I completely agree with the more of exploring kalos than just lumios city and that the way he says it might happen would be awsome but I would really like mega evolution to have a large factor in the story line as well
i feel like the professor would have yu get coal and stone from the mines, but a light draws you deeper into the cave, and at the end you find your Starter's Megastone. you report it to the Professor and he tasks you to go to various Caves / Mountains to collect these Megstones. I feel like to get them there would be waves of pokemon you must defeat to gain the Megastone at the end.
I feel like ppl forget that the legends arceus was THE experimental game, where game freak could do something different and just test things out for the next game and now they're incorrectly assuming that legends z-a will be arceus but in kalos, when i feel like z-a will continue the experimental particle of it's predecessor and go in a completly different direction than arceus, like for example if arceus was all about exploring the semi open areas and focusing on catching as much pokemon as possible and making the first pokedex, maybe z-a will completly lock you in the lumiose city and minimize the catching aspect to bare minimum?
Theyl pick to the option that makes the most money in the shortest tine so theyl limit the pokemon because then wed have to buy the ither games for the rest theyll also add in a dlc or 2
On one hand, I'm really nervous about their statement regarding the game only taking place in Lumiose City, as I think that would really hinder the gameplay and make it less interesting to play. On the other hand, I'm just so excited to see what they've cooked up with this game, especially coming off of the success of Legends Arceus! I hope they took notes as to what Pokemon fans really want in a game, and I really hope that they put the proper time and effort into the game so it doesn't feel unfinished or that it belongs on a previous gen console. As a side note, I think it would be soooo cool if they added the Paris catacombs into the game. There's a ton of potential for lots of fun ghost types to appear, and maybe even some cool new regional forms based on the catacombs. I loved the video, and I can clearly see the work you put into it to capture what the Kalos region could look like in a Legends game!
I love how pokémon fans spend months theorising the next games while gamefreak in the meantime is like: "yeah so, we made this puddle so we think we're gonna fit a gyarados inside."
It's not a reconstruction, it's redevelopment. Paris is starting redevelopment right now. Yet, there's no recent disasters. So, it could easily be in the future, with manmade micro biomes throughout the city to catch in.
This was an awesome video!! I absolutely love X and Y! My two favorite Pokémon and Braixen and Sylveon, and this game is just so exciting for me. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks we’ll be venturing outside of the city too
I know we just got Terapagos focused games (and currently the anime as well) but honestly if they do decide to go for a time travel/time-space distortions theme I would love to see the time machine being important again. After the crystal pool encounter we get the professor's scarlet/violet book back, which means we could reactivate the time machine, yet the game doesn't even let you inside the machine room after you reach the underdepths. They could also scrap that completely and just use Hoopa as an excuse though. But if they add time travel stuff again I would like to travel between past and future lumiose. That way they could have a much bigger diversity when it comes to wild Pokémon! Some of PLA's mechanics were teased in SWSH, for example the game's battling styles were teased with urshifu's rapid/single strike forms. I wouldn't be surprised if the mechanic they teased this time was the synchro machine, but I feel like they won't give up on paradox pokémon just yet, especially when paradox mons like roaring moon and iron valiant hinted at megas returning. And following the past-future time travel concept , another baseless idea I like is Team Quasar (or whatever it ends up being called) being made up of Fallers/time travelers. Imagine if we had Sada in the past and Turo in the future (not the AI's or the dead ones, but rather the missing parents from their respective timelines) or maybe characters like Emmet or Colress. Nothing points to that direction for now but I would love to see it!
I want to say that the devs came close to using abilities in PLA. The pokes with swift swim, unburden, etc. seemed so much like they had some kind of...? secret action economy boost apart from the speed stat proper.
banger video. i think you might be right on the nail in the resource gathering... loved all that you had to say! combining lore and level design in your theories is a great way to do it and . i think you did it quite well and logically but what i need more than anything is mega dudunsparce. make it an ouroboros
So hype for the next legends game! Hopefully Pokemon has learned from there previous games and heard the criticism and they’ll make this one the best next gen Pokemon game
When I first saw the thumbnail I thought that zygrade's silhouette was a weed leaf and that z-a was a pun for the word Zaza. And I was like "haha funny pokemon weed game"
I feel like they could make the game focused on Lumiose entirely by making a true city, with tons of buildings, alleys, rooftops, and more that you could fully explore. Sure, Lumiose in X/Y was big, but you couldn't enter many buildings, and compared to a real city, it wasn't actually big at all. If they double down on the city-focused part, it could be really cool.
The reason you go into different areas is because people are trying to build up the city, but strong pokemon similar to alphas and frenzied pokemon on PLA are stopping people from accessing resources. These Pokémon are sent by zygarde to stop the building of the city and destruction of the environment around it
I think that legends ZA is refering to AZ and after he created the weapon and ended the war, legends ZA takes place to rebuild luminous city after the war
Amazing video, Very well thought out, you must have done a lot of research I can already picture the game playing out Great job! Can't wait to see the nest video
People need to play the Spider-Man games on PlayStation to understand how this game will fit in one city. It's going to be multi leveled city, with canals, roof top terraces, i imagine at first you'll only have access to street level and slowly open up more of the city. It's obviously going to be a much more fleshed out and full lumioise city than that of x and y
I can't stress enough how similar Kalos is to France when it comes to how everything goes back to Illumis(that's how it's called in french and i played Y in french so imma call it that) Another point that does correspond to the hypothetical period this game will be in, is that France, up until Automobiles generalization, had a heavy railroad network, in a star shape where everything ends and starts in Paris, so if they do use that in their favr(Illumis has a train station after all) we can bypass the distance by harvesting whatever is needed for Illumis by going all around Kalos, AND that would help include places too far from Illumis but still iconic in Kalos, as well as events that are linked to specific places such as mythicals being about south kalos, caves etc(forgot their names but you know what im talking about) All and all, i imagine this game to have a bigger scope than ever, after all they did try to make an openworld without having the capabilities, experience or ressources, it turned out funny and glitchy, but that's a bit more experience for them, tho i prefer a zone system like LPA, a single zone of that game has just as much care and details in it than all of paldea unfortunately, so i hope they don't make another empty open world just for the sake on being an open world
But there will be things that happen in the future and eventually become legends themselves. The legends don't have to have already happened, it could be the forming of new legends for future residents of kalos, not just the ones who exist in modern kalos. As an example, the player vs team flare stuff ib XY are technically legends from the perspective of those born hundreds of years after XY. This could be the exact same situation where we see the formation of legends for those born far after both XY and ZA. Not that I have anything against having it in the past, just the idea of it being a legend doesn't guarantee it being in the past. PLA is a legend to the people of DP but before PLA happened it wasn't a legend since it never happened yet, but that doesn't mean it won't become a legend in the future.
@@PolitzkWay less interesting to play through a game about a "legend" we ALREADY would have experienced nearly 12 years ago by the time of ZA's release. It's like hearing a story you already know the ending to. Legends was exciting because we didn't know the game's exact ending. Whereas a game set hundreds of years in the future telling the legend of XY...would be less entertaining as if the characters get it right...we are just being given cliffnotes of what we already know or if they get it wrong...we are just watching characters spew Tauros-Shinx for 20+ hours.
@@ArtsyJet you completely misunderstood. The legend would not be XY. The legend would take place AFTER XY. XY already happened before the legend would take place otherwise it would be a remake.
Also based on how in Arceus the player was working with Galexy Team I'm betting the Player in ZA will be framed through reporter working with Alexa's ancestor. Sent on reports and scopes will be the way the game goes about main quests and side quests.
And lumiose even in legends Z-A is 64x smaller than actual Paris (even smaller than that becaues the Prism tower is not even half the size of the eiffel tower) meaning Kalos is 64x smaller than france's northern half or only the size of Delaware at 2000 square miles (every direction of france scaled down by 8x to make Kalos)
Honestly-considering the time periods being close together and we don't know where he went-I'm curious as to whether we'll catch a glimpse of a certain merchant wandering about Kalos...
I'd hate for the game to take place in the past. They've confirmed the game will take place in lumiose only. The future has so much potential for little synthetic micro biomes wherewe could catch pokemon, with diverse huge districts
@@zionox688 just because the ultimate weapon is more than likely coming into play doesn't mean it takes place in the past or has anything to do with AZ

Great video, man. Can't wait for part 2. I really do thing this could be one of, if not the best Pokemon game to date, especially the expanded lore regarding Megas (the best gimmick) and Zygarde (one of my favourite pokemon)
I dont understand why people think this would be in the future. These are LEGENDS about the history of the reigons. Who ever wants to put money on it let me know.
I wonder why i didn't ever hear anybody explore the possibility that lumiose city is the original name of kalos, much like Rome was both the name of the empire and the settlement it started in and how Lussemburg is both the name of the city and the Country
i mean the trailer itself shows an Absol running away from luminose city, and it's near the canal; either implying something is going to happen there. or the area its running to is where some disaster is going to occur. maybe either the Coumarine City/sea spirit's den or the Pokemon League/Victory Road, Snowbell City or possibly the cave of emptiness. at least looking at Kalos' official art showing waterways going north-west and south-east. there's also Zygarde's lore about being inside the caverns under Kalos which probably implies that water goes round. As for Zygarde itself, i think they'll probably make use of the unused models they might have designed. in the coding for Sun/Moon, Zygarde's 10% and Complete forms has the IDs of 12 and 15. since there's Red Cores...yet blue cores doesn't appear itself, it could be inferred that they cut half of Zygarde's elements from SM when adapting Z content. otherwise form 11 would be the Red Core, 12 Dog. then forms 13 and 14 would be the blue core and its 50% form. Pokemon that has gendered diferences (model/textures) usually takes model texture IDs 0/1. Unown starts from 0 and goes to 27. if a Pokemon debuted before the shift to 3D, then gamefreak would readjust them to Pokedex order, unless a new generation starts. the only egregious things would be 2 spots between Calyrex and SV's Regis texture IDs., and Bergmite's Line skipping an ID. (Pokemon were listed with codenames. the 3D pokemon X/Y site lists their codenames as Ice1 and Ice3, meaning it lost an evolution). though that could just be giving space for concurrent development. like how Legends Arceus started from something like 1000 instead of 900-something. again, new generations tend to start new model texture ID systems.
I would wanna see the ninja town from pokemon XYZ, where you get a special frokie and train with it until it evolves into a greninja, and you and that greninja save the town, and that becomes the battle bond greninja from the legend in the series.
Most likely starter candidates: Chikorita, Totodile, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, Litten or Popplio. I would bet on Snivy, Piplup and Litten based on popularity, but a regional form or mega Meganium would be really cool if Game Freak has decided take a gamble on it (which they should). Snivy and Piplup's evolution lines are both based on royal figures which is obviously huge for Kalos, so I'll be surprised if they don't have at least one of them (most likely Piplup because Empoleon=Napoleon) My money is on it taking place in the future, for two major reasons. The theme of Kalos was centred around environmental issues, and given what Area Zero and the Blueberry Academy showed in SV, Game Freak just started exploring the concept of artificial areas with entirely different environments and pokemon being sustained in close proximity through technological achievements. That leads straight into Team Flare being very technology-centred too, which you mentioned in the video and (like you) I believe it will be a key part of the story. So that's how I'm guessing they plan to solve the problem of having many different kinds of pokemon in an ecosystem which would otherwise be incredibly restricting and not really make any sense for a whole game. This could play into why the city is being remade, to become more environmentally friendly, perhaps with Zygarde even playing a key role in why the city may have been destroyed and is now changing to become more nature-friendly/sustainable. The other reason it would make sense to me is that thematically, this generation is heavily focused on past vs future. The last Legends game took place in the past, so it makes a lot of sense from that perspective for them to now make one either in the future, or building a highly technologically advanced/futuristic city in the modern day. This makes sense to me because it would fully explain why Pokemon has decided to make the entire game take place in ONLY one city; the game is a highly futuristic setting, but is in the modern day. To do so with a whole region wouldn't make sense from a reasonable lore perspective, but to do so with a single massive city isn't just feasible, it's highly interesting and invites fantastic plot points especially when Zygarde is considered. In summary: I'm fairly certain the game will take place either in the near future or the futuristic present, as it's the only explanation I've found as to why the entire game will be set in one city
I think they might just use the original Kalos starters rather than switching things up. You could argue Legend Arceus' unique starters were to avoid repetition with the recent BDSP. By contrast, there's no other Kalos game coming out before Z-A. I also think they'll stick with Kalos starters to emphasize potential Mega evolutions for them
The game is probably set after the war in the game that az was in and such as it says the redevelopment of it which means it getting rebuilt which it must’ve gotten torn down due to the war or it was the center of the wars fighting which actually connects the whole az using floette’s weapon and it went straight to the past lumiose destroying it and now we have to rebuild it
really cool ideas, my theory is pretty different, but i'd be just as happy with something like this! i reckon ZA will be set very shortly after x/y and act as a sequel. basically everyone agrees that lysandre's methods were wrong, but his intentions were good (stopping humanity from wiping out pokemon's natural habitats). so the solution? terraform lumiose city into a solar-punk nature city where pokemon can live comfortably alongside humans. basically the re-development will involve using the power of zygarde (or something) to terraform each fifth of the city into a different biome (forest, desert, arctic ect) that will kind of overlay each part of the city instead of replacing the buildings and stuff. this will all culminate in replacing prism tower with a clean energy device built by AZ based on his ultimate weapon (seen in the game logo), but repurposed to create rather than destroy.
This is a very cool idea for the plot! Though I would still be extremely interested in a game that takes place entirely within a city. The creativity of getting it to work would be amazing to see!
Personally, I like to think this takes place during the Industrial Revolution and they are utilizing electric types to modernize the city. With the influx of people the city has to compensate by building lots more buildings.
20:00 imagine if there was a sidequest involving using new experimental pokeballs and testing prototypes of specialized balls (like net ball), but you wouldn't know what ball you had until after you test it out on various pokemon. or maybe a cool "make your own pokeball with it's unique ruleset" factory-themed minigame that uses resources you've collected from the gem mines with multiple layers where deeper levels have better resources but more dangerous pokemon. now I'm thinking of a doggy zygarde, as a follow party member and not a ride (like let's go pickachu/eevee), helping the player find hidden natural resources and other cells
I really liked the plan you laid out here, and I hope that they do something similar. My original idea when they announced that it would play similar to the fan game, This Gym of Mine, You are a recent transfer to the area, acting as a city planner. You explore with your pokemon and help gather money and resources to build the city by placing shops and factories etc. I guess it would actually be closer to Animal Crossing, but I could see that attracting a lot of new players who probably didn't get that into Pokemon as a franchise.
The tower as the ultimate weapon thing gave me chills. Us literally helping to create it in our ‘beautifying’ Lumiose fits so well with the themes of X and Y.
Great video, I can't wait for us to learn more about this game, I'm really excited to get new lore and story for Kalos and new mega evolutions. I hope like in Legends Arceus the gen 6 mythicals get their own quest.
I hope Zygarde does get more forms. There's a 99.9% chance that would never do this but I think you should be able to have more than one Zygarde so long as they are less than the total number of cells you have. Like if you had 60 cells you could have one 50% and one 10% or or six 10% forms. Crazy I know but logical.
I personally think the player will time hop between time periods making changes to the city in a early era and then jumping to a modern or near future state that has alternative spawn tables for wild encounters depending on what choices the players make during the past era.
I can imagine Zygarde becoming incredible angry over the construction of Lumious city and possibly have points in the game where people spot a green snake like pokemon destroy buildings
I think that since it’s focused on battling, this will be a game largely based around conflicts between different trainers and possibly their goals for the city. The further emphasis on megas could exemplify this, as trainers with certain megas or mega stones would be put at an advantage to push their goals
What about time travel? Imagine staying within Lumiose City but exploring it in different eras-like the prehistoric times, even before humans existed, or during an ice age. You might even travel to the future! This idea could add so much variety to the Pokémon and landscapes, all within the city itself.
It would be super cool if they included famous french writers and also the emperor that existed at the time ( like seing pokemon versions of Victor Hugo or Charles Baudelaire would be neat ) Also for those who don't know : France during Paris reconstruction was governed by Napoleon III, wich was Napoleon the first's nephew and an emperor. He ordered the baron Haussman to reshape Paris in what it actually is : wide streets with lots of parallels and perpendiculars. He is also the one that created the typical paris buildings that are sketched in the trailer. Victor Hugo wrote The hunchback of Notre Dame and The Miserables while Baudelaire wrote The Flowers of Evil.
I am so ready for a Pokemon game to commit to a mechanic thats not battles, and stick with it for the majority of it's run - Legends games seem ripe for that approach so a Legends Arceus meets a Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King is the direction i'm hoping for (albeit adjusted more for what Arcues does as a game since yeah it is still an Action RPG). I'm super interested in the idea of it existing within an open plan city that will just have pokemon running around it, Sca/Vio Mesagoza on a large scale is the touchstone i think, especailly since it wont have to focus on handling a full open world but can invest resources in things like NPC schedules, which has long eluded Pokemon (despite the night and day mechanic BEGGING for it) Thank you for wonderful ZA video thats not full of clickbait non news or wild baseless speculation - well thought out and grand to chew on
I never considered there was other ways to pronounce this game since we say words like X-ray and A-Team with the name of the letter I was also just in Paris and it’s absolutely huge. My understanding of this world was changed when someone suggested that games like Spider-Man take place entirely in one city and having been there in person I can definitely see it working.
I think you may be a bit hung up on the resource angle of it all. I doubt we as the players need to fill in for the manual workforce behind lumber production, because that sounds kinda shit. I think our purpose is to travel through the different parts of the city, solve the problems locals are having with pokemon by incorporating the pokemon into the Lumiose City ecosystem and catching/defeating any troublemakers. We"ll essentially be the city police and animal control rolled into one.
I'm going with it being an alternative modern day setting where pokemon are vr digital creatures that can be interacted with similar to how we irl can interact with them via pokemon go. The reason I think this simple, pokemon go IS the main game the pokemon company is pushing us all towards and that's why every single game since its release has been incorporating it more and more over the years. The goal is to make pokemon go THE game to play and have all the features that previous games had, eventually being blocked by a pay wall. But don't worry the next legends game will be in the future.
I feel like legends will only ever give us settings in the past. The Eiffel Tower was finished in 1889 so I would think it might be set in a similar time period
I actually think making the world of the game slightly smaller could really benifit the games performance quality. But something that would hint towards just expanding lumious into the other routes is, that the routes all have names, just like they do in actual paris, I think
Hope if they do have the legendaries a super important part of the game that they'll be in different places, like Xernease in the pokemon forest and then yveltal being in the victory road like you said

While not it’s own pokemon, I had some theories about Galar being more of Norse mythology and to me the secret Dynamax Greedent at the Dyna Tree seems like it could be a reference, especially since most of the other Galar legends line up with something, including the birds.
Okay, crack theory, the one in X and Y was the fake one and we see the REAL one in Z-A
I completely agree with the more of exploring kalos than just lumios city and that the way he says it might happen would be awsome but I would really like mega evolution to have a large factor in the story line as well
Thank you for sticking with the bit and calling it “Za”
Zygarde on that zaza
I hope the game opens with the ultimate weapon being used, and that would be the reason for the redevelopment.
i feel like the professor would have yu get coal and stone from the mines, but a light draws you deeper into the cave, and at the end you find your Starter's Megastone. you report it to the Professor and he tasks you to go to various Caves / Mountains to collect these Megstones.
Theyl pick to the option that makes the most money in the shortest tine so theyl limit the pokemon because then wed have to buy the ither games for the rest theyll also add in a dlc or 2
Sounds like a game to avoid like the plague, tbh. What's the point if the focus isn't the namesake?

Really good video. Edit: paris has got a large river running through it so an adapted version of it could be the main water area.

If that is true then it’d be more exciting
The pokes with swift swim, unburden, etc. seemed so much like they had some kind of...? secret action economy boost apart from the speed stat proper.
the big Regi still had Slow Start

When I first saw the thumbnail I thought that zygrade's silhouette was a weed leaf and that z-a was a pun for the word Zaza. And I was like "haha funny pokemon weed game"
I feel like they could make the game focused on Lumiose entirely by making a true city, with tons of buildings, alleys, rooftops, and more that you could fully explore. Sure, Lumiose in X/Y was big, but you couldn't enter many buildings, and compared to a real city, it wasn't actually big at all. If they double down on the city-focused part, it could be really cool.
they should make snoop dogg a cameo in ZA
Pokemon Legends ZAZA
The reason you go into different areas is because people are trying to build up the city, but strong pokemon similar to alphas and frenzied pokemon on PLA are stopping people from accessing resources. These Pokémon are sent by zygarde to stop the building of the city and destruction of the environment around it
Zygarde blessed mega evolutions
I think that legends ZA is refering to AZ and after he created the weapon and ended the war, legends ZA takes place to rebuild luminous city after the war
bro idk how more ppl didn’t pick up on that it’s so obvious 😭
Amazing video,
Very well thought out, you must have done a lot of research
I can already picture the game playing out
Great job!
I can't stress enough how similar Kalos is to France when it comes to how everything goes back to Illumis(that's how it's called in french and i played Y in french so imma call it that)
Another point that does correspond to the hypothetical period this game will be in, is that France, up until Automobiles generalization, had a heavy railroad network, in a star shape where everything ends and starts in Paris, so if they do use that in their favr(Illumis has a train station after all) we can bypass the distance by harvesting whatever is needed for Illumis by going all around Kalos, AND that would help include places too far from Illumis but still iconic in Kalos, as well as events that are linked to specific places such as mythicals being about south kalos, caves etc(forgot their names but you know what im talking about)
All and all, i imagine this game to have a bigger scope than ever, after all they did try to make an openworld without having the capabilities, experience or ressources, it turned out funny and glitchy, but that's a bit more experience for them, tho i prefer a zone system like LPA, a single zone of that game has just as much care and details in it than all of paldea unfortunately, so i hope they don't make another empty open world just for the sake on being an open world
Argument for past: The word Legend usually is used for a story or myth from... you guessed it: The Past
Great video! Love the idea of collecting different kinds of resources from different areas in order to aid in the development process of lumios

I dont understand why people think this would be in the future. These are LEGENDS about the history of the reigons. Who ever wants to put money on it let me know.
I really love this game idea, however, I NEED LEGENDS: NECROZMA, preferably in the next two years.
I think the game will play in the past. It’s a legend game. Ever heard of a legend taking place in the future?
I believe that Z-A will take place after the first launching of the weapon that ended the Pokemon War, and they're rebuilding it afterwards, maybe
Snivy and Piplup's evolution lines are both based on royal figures which is obviously huge for Kalos, so I'll be surprised if they don't have at least one of them (most likely Piplup because Empoleon=Napoleon)
My money is on it taking place in the future, for two major reasons.
Nah my guy did NOT open this video with “Pokemon legends ZAAR” 💀
0:55 Z-A sounds more likely because just look at the name it looks like that because its just for looks

i honestly didnt even think about actually catching pokemon and how that would work if they're think of having the entire game in one city lmao bruh

I hope the Kalos starters and Flygon get their own mega's along with Pikachu and Eevee.
I like this concept a lot it actually fits perfectly I hope they do sum similar

I think that since it’s focused on battling, this will be a game largely based around conflicts between different trainers and possibly their goals for the city. The further emphasis on megas could exemplify this, as trainers with certain megas or mega stones would be put at an advantage to push their goals
I'm definitely assuming that the undercity will be a massive part of it, and the sewers being a lot of where the surfing takes place
If it takes place in past, I would love to see this professor Westwood make a cameo as he invented the modern pokeball.

I'm super interested in the idea of it existing within an open plan city that will just have pokemon running around it, Sca/Vio Mesagoza on a large scale is the touchstone i think, especailly since it wont have to focus on handling a full open world but can invest resources in things like NPC schedules, which has long eluded Pokemon (despite the night and day mechanic BEGGING for it)
Thank you for wonderful ZA video thats not full of clickbait non news or wild baseless speculation - well thought out and grand to chew on
I never considered there was other ways to pronounce this game since we say words like X-ray and A-Team with the name of the letter
I was also just in Paris and it’s absolutely huge. My understanding of this world was changed when someone suggested that games like Spider-Man take place entirely in one city and having been there in person I can definitely see it working.
Ahh yes pokemon zaza, my two favourite after work acitivities.
