Awesome gate! I’m actually thinking of diy’ing one myself. I already have a manual sliding gate cantilevered on one side and on wheels on the other. Your video gives me some ideas but would love more details. 👏🏾👏🏾

Yes you do Amarillo area can get heavy winter snow and ice. That was my concern if the gate rolls ok thru ice and snow
If snow got too deep you would have to clear a path. Ice would depend on the thickness. Don
Great job and price is also very good considering motor itself is 2-2.5 and other materials so let's say 4k materials 4k labor

We buy ours through a wholesale to the trades only yard but you can probably order all of it from Home Depot or Lowes

Motor and gear box wss $150
Belt drive over chain for safety the chain is atached to a rolling gates.
Someone could just use a garage door opener to open and close the gate with rollers on top and guide on the bottom

Does that track need to be 100%level? I understand it has to be flat, but would it work with a 3%or so slope?
Phil, it would do fine at 3% uphill.
Awesome job-This is exactly what we need! Will definitely have to keep it in mind. Do you have a weight estimate on the slider ? My situation is like 30 ftslightly uphill so I'll need to work out if the opener has capacity
Each gate is a custom build and therefore the weight is different on every one. We use a Liftmaster CSL24U commercial opener and have never had a problem

not sure about all of Texas. Most N Texas cities limit you to 8'6" from the dirt to the top of the fence

I was thinking of hedges but cost of water is high here in California and trimming hedges is a task. I saw your video and now I know were to start. I have to check with the city on fencing height before I start anything. Thanks.
So the track that goes into the yard is not 100% supported by concrete? It on piers ?
The V Track rests on steel feet which are incased/encased in the piers

How much would a gate like this cost in DFW area? I am looking for 8' board on board, and wide enough for 3 car driveway...... How much price difference for DIY vs you guys do it? Thanks in advance for your advice.
This type of gate would cost +/- 7-8 K in 8' tall BOB fence depending on a few variables.

does this work for all seasons including snowy months
Rayna, we are in N Texas and it is not an issue. I would imagine that in snow country you might have to shovel where the track was if the snow got high enough to impede the gate. We love your questions

We run into this quite often. The gate will be 3' longer than the driveway. You must have enough room for it to fully open. We also have a double rolling gate for that reason. Give me an email address and I will send you a video

What is the approximate Cost of a 18ft by 6ft gate with same cedar wood ? I'm in Dallas
KayKay.... the gate like the one in the video will cost +/- $8300. Some other things to consider would be any connecting fence, as escapoe gate to the alley to take out the trash. Hope this helps. We love questions

The gates are custom made on site based on the size of the driveway. There is no kit. Where do you live?
The heart and soul of the gate which is the motor and chain is a kit. U might need to trim the chain shorter or longer but it is a kit. The rest is pretty much diy able

Having a track on the driveway just won't work in snow. The snow plows would make scrape metal of it.

This was in an alley. Most front entry gates are wrought iron

There’s probably a lot of factors that go into this project that can affect price. The poster seems to be pretty forthcoming responding to other’s comments. I’d assume this type of project is obviously pretty expensive considering how much nicer it is than a manual push sliding gate. Nicer things always cost way more.
