This was the performance where he killed off his Ziggy persona…Ziggy would only be seen again filming the 1984 Floor Show for american tv that was filmed a few weeks later.

Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece, you have done so about Bowie's best concert. Pure Bowie, pure Ziggy Stardust. Iconic and legendary not only for its forcefulness, freshness and high-level rock with a great Mick Ronson, but also because just before starting to sing Rock 'n Roll suicide David makes a speech and breaks up his band unexpectedly, surprising the audience and The Spiders from Mars, his own band .
    Early Bowie's best career.
The àlbum from this live concert is a jewel for all Bowie's fans like me.
    Keep on rocking.

Probably one of his best album closers. Thank you so much for continuing to react to Bowie, I really like how you kind of stay away from his classics but do dig in to fan-favourites and dive more into why you think they are great songs, have watched most of your Bowie reactions and I do like them alot.
I have a suggestion for your (hopefully) next Bowie reaction that you might be interested: a back to back reaction comparing 2 versions (studio & acoustic live) of a song from his Earthling album called Dead Man Walking. It is fairly good as a song (I do prefer I'm Afraid of Americans & Little Wonder & a couple of other songs more on that album), but Bowie did a rare acoustic version of it on Conan that is one of my personal favourite live performances of him. It's so good and it actually gives the song the right feel for me. I think 90's Bowie songs, specifically on Earthling, a lot of time got not-the-best over the top production & instrumental arrangement/effect (I'm not so sure of technical terms) in the way that their great melodies are obscured, and this is one of those cases.
Anyhow he also rarely does acoustic lives at all (kinda rightfully so when he's known for his layered arrangement/production), and he has a full on acoustic performance as a trio with Reeves Gabrels and Gail Ann Dorsey that might be fun for you to watch and hear his voice more bare.

Oh no, love, you're not alone
You're watching yourself, but you're too unfair
You got your head all tangled up, but if I could only make you care
Oh no, love, you're not alone
No matter what or who you've been
No matter when or where you've seen
All the knives seem to lacerate your brain
I've had my share, I'll help you with the pain
    You're not alone.
    Genius.

His "My Death" from the same Hammersmith concert is also absolutely great and worth a listen. The video was filmed by D.A. Pennebacker, part of a movie project (which was released as the film _Ziggy_ _Stardust_ _and_ _the_ _Spiders_ _from_ _Mars_ about 10 years later), so the audio was very good for a live concert.

I saw him 5 times in various venues in Detroit. The thing that struck me the most was ( I used the word is instead of was. I still must be in denial of his death ) realizing that by the time you go to his concert in support of his current album he had already moved on to sometimes completely different style of music and stage show and often different band members. Always discovering and creating and evolving. With Ziggy Stardust ( the album this song came from ) he opened up doors and opportunities for the kids who were different and not popular or different sexualities to experience being a part of our society. Suddenly they were no longer invisible or worse vilified. And for that I think we should all owe Mr. Bowie a great deal of gratitude for helping us attain a better understanding of each other. He was an original.

It wasn't planned one of the fans took his hand and wasn't letting go so the security guy had to intervene and the smile is typical Bowie every time there was some over zealous fan he took it lightly smiling.

I recommend also listening to the album version as David Bowie played a great saxophone solo on that, and also includes trumpet, trombone, violins etc and has a jazz feel xxx

YAY! Back to Bowie! Love, love love this song.
. HeyTodd, I like your jabbering! I just have to mention that I love the blackness of the stage and nothing but that reddish orange lighting on David. It's so striking. I think I've mentioned this before but I heard David say that"sometimes the eyes are hungrier than the ears. I must say he's a feast for my eyes. hee hee. You know, David Bowie has so much to offer that "ALL" of it isn't for everyone so maybe just now you're relating to it where as you didn't when you were younger...if that makes any sense.??? I've been looking out for you to do some more Bowie so this was really great! Great reaction, as always! ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡

Thanks for looking into Bowie…Rock`n`roll suicide is really awesome, but this mix is terrible…. You need listen to the ziggy stardust - the Motion picture 1983…
Other suggestions are Andrea Schroeders version of Heroes - Helden. This one is mindblowing. It made me almost cry first time listening.
Other Bowie songs I appreciate are The wild eyed boy from freecloud, memory of a free festival (single version).( this is for me Bowies answer to Hey jude, you will understand when you listen to part two). There are many more on my list, but it is enough with these two.
    Btw. I liked your video.

hiya todd,me again, you keep going on about the modern re jigging on a lot of bowie stuff,,,,have mentioned b4 to you that if you only listened to the truely original albums of this icon you will see that there was and never will be any need for any so called modern intervention when it comes to listening to Bowie,,,because it was already there ,just the way this Guy intended,,every album, every track, every single, every sound that he layed down, was there the way he wanted, even when,,so called others, tried to change his way of thinking, recording and writing,,David told them what to go and do with themselves,,,,Todd clarity is not the modern way to listen to older works of art,,,clarity is knowing you get,or thankfully knowing you got it the first time round,,i have now seen so many reactions os people saying they will be listening to the remastered version,,,i feel like throwing up,,,,you are not doing a genuine reaction,,,,,,take a true vinyl recording, place it it on the turn table and listen to that stylus engage with that piece of plastic,,,now that is the way it was intended,,,,,,,to even think about listening to someone as great as Bowie etc in a way that it wasnt recorded originally,is sadly like listening to some idiot mixing Duke Ellington,Ella Fitzgerrald,Nina Simone,The Eagles,Beatles etc to that crap called auto tune,,,,but as always ,,,,love watching your journey with Bowie,,,,cheers

What's up Anthony, I wish I had a nice record player. The drummer in my band just gave me a vinyl copy of a new release of his other band. I'll just save it till I can put something together worthy. Sometimes Spotify only has the remastered version, not always. I know what you mean though, when I hear a remastered version of an album I am intimate with, it just sounds wrong, so yeah, I get it. Thanks so much for hanging out, I sure do appreciate it. Todd

Thanks Todd for your reply. I hope you wasn't offended by my response to your latest Bowie reaction it wasn't intended to be so. I only watch yourself and a few others doing reactions, simply because of your honesty and respect to all that you react to. Much respect to you,,,check out a guy by the name of, Richard Hawley, he used to be in a band over here in the UK called Pulp, listen to, Open up your door, 'and many more especially a duet he does with a fantastic female singer (sorry, can't remember her name) it is them doing the song Hush a bye mountain, from the movie Chitty Chitty bang bang,,I know this request sounds ridiculous but give a go,,I think you will really enjoy it,,,,,,keep up with your brilliant reactions,,Tony
