Yeah.. even his self professed dark days of Cocaine, Pills, Red Peppers & Milk diet? Lol. Dude had bad times like anyone else. I don't find hero worship to be great. He couldn't paint such beautiful musical tapestries without dark times and thoughts. We all have our faults and I adore the man for living through such hardships. Sames goes for his last album and battle with cancer. Admirable af. He is inspiring af for his imperfections, which he speaks to often, in his music.
I loved David Bowie all my life since I was 9yrs old and was devastated by his death. He was so talented and innovative. There will never be another like him 😢❤
The greatest Top of the Pops performance of all time. Bowie raised an army of fans following this appearance and changed Britain forever. Some other Bowie Magical Mometns: watch him perform Heroes at Live Aid; Ashes to Ashes promo video; Wild is the Wind at Glastonbury.
I think you need to hear this entire album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. It's a concept album about an alien who tries to save earth as a rock and roll star. Other songs to hear are Suffragette City, Moonage Daydream, Five Years and Ziggy Stardust. The entire album is incredible, definitely a must hear!
Tienes toda la razón cuando dices que es una de esas canciones que uno espera que nunca terminen. Transmite una energía especial, de alegría, tranquilidad y esperanza.
This was a huge turning point in British TOTP performances. I was a little girl watching this, and instantly fell in love with David, plus he sounded like me being another South Londoner.
one of my fav bowie songs.glad you did the top of the pop performance.top of the pops was thee music programme everyone watched and hen talked about at school the next day 1960's-00's. more bowie songs space oddity life on mars ashes to ashes china girl changes let's dance
Thanks, Lucie - glad you saw the live version.. David was amazing... a truly unique talent.. and this is one of my favorites by him... look forward to more reactions from you... (p.s. besides his many other hits, a great one from this era is "Rock n Roll Suicide".. find it live, if you can...)
He is great. I have seen him 3 times in concert! He had such a great voice. Please react to China Girl, Wild is the Wind and I would be your slave (live). 😉
Yes! Not very Bowie knowledgeable as I was born a few years after this act. However, wow to have FINALLY come across this performance just last month! It's one of the best performances I've ever seen! Special mention to the movie THE MARTIAN for this and showing my 10 year old, he loves it too!
You have to see the scene in the movie “The Martian” where Matt Damon is shooting through space suspended with zero gravity while this song is being played!
Thanks, This is my first time seeing you,, and you now have a new subscriber. It's funny watching the reactions with the live performance. When we were kids listening to this (I'm an old fart) we didn't have the videos. Now we knew, David was...different, from the few times we saw him on his album covers. The time that I grew up in, gay was bad. It took me many years to overcome that problem and most people my age have not. Anyway there's more great Bowie, "Suffragette City" is one off the top of my head. Thanks again, great work, I look forward to hearing more from you!
Spunk, jumbrobe and apple pie i heard one descobe it! and u know what, that most fitting : )) (in this case im pretty sure spunk is a"soul"thing, not the hmm other stuff) namaste

I was 9 when I first heard him and still love his music to this day at 63yrs old. RIP😢😢😢
The moment he put his arm round Mick Ronson is iconic in British music history.,,
Both very sadly missed 😢
Iconic as musicians and as pop figures... Bowie never found a match after Ronson departure, and he had brilliant guitarists
@@beanybun6110 as somebody once said, back then men only touched each other to punch each other.
Brothers in arms.
David was a class act his whole life.

I saw this on Top of the Pops in 1972. I was only 8 but I knew my world would never be the same again. I am still in shock at how good this is.
One of Bowie's best songs and that is high praise because he has so many great ones.
my favorite record of all time. rip Bowie, the true king

Love him and this song, my fav song by him!
My Favorite Bowie Song♥️
I saw this when it aired. Now that was a surprise!
Labyrinth (the movie) was my introduction to David Bowie. I've been a fan ever since! 🤩
You wouldn't believe the furore that Bowie putting his arm around Ronson caused when this first aired.

I was 13 when this came out and the next day the whole school was talking about it.
Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
We lived in the time of David Bowie
The drummer, Mick Woodmansey, is the only Spider from Mars alive. 'Arm on shoulder' moment. Iconic in the UK.
Una canción sumamente bella
Welcome to 'The world of Bowie'. The Genre? Bowie of course.
I’m jealous cos you have so many treats ahead with the vast catalogue of Bowie right up to 2016 with Black Star
I love these old clips he looks so punk. Miss him!
Hm. The punks looked so Bowie!!!

You see a man here on a rocket ship ride to super stardom (pun intended) :) "ground control and all"
Once you're bitten by the Bowie Bug ,there's no going back...so more more to discover. ENJOY!❤

Suffragate City
Know by now by Robert Palmer , music video version please 😊
That was at a time when TOTPs had live acts. In later years everything was lip-synced.
