I will never forget seeing Bowie perform this song at the Universal Amphitheater 1974 Diamond Dogs tour. The entire crowd was on their feet giving him their hands. It was surreal.

Wow thank you so much for reacting to both the Station to Station Live and now the Rock n Roll Suicide, was not expecting it. Him performing Drive-In Saturday in 1973 (there's also a really short interview that goes with this one, if you look up 1973 Russell Harty Bowie, you'll find it, it's unnecessary but nice) and Time in 1987 for the Glass Spider Tour (over the top, but in a good way) are both really great lives. I would also recommend Wild is the Wind (BBC Theatre in 2000), but the live is not nearly as beautiful as his original studio recording (still beautiful, but I would suggest hearing Bowie's original studio version first).

This man can do no wrong. I'm so glad I got to see him live, in 1986, a treasured memory. I want you to react to everything he's ever done, ha ha, but I have to be selective, of course. It's not easy though, so after your reaction to "Sweet Thing" off the "Diamond Dogs" album, I thought I'd recommend [the album versions again], "Rock and Roll With Me", We Are The Dead", "1984" and "Big Brother", which goes into the last track "Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family" : the last two tracks belong together. I'm basically asking you to react to the album, but track by track. It's a particular favourite of mine, but I love all his work. Just wanted to see you react to these great songs. Songs that reflect our times. An album inspired by George Orwell's novel "1984". Enjoying all your reactions Pope.

Very few people who have graced the stage brought the same amount of passion and care for his art and audience, as you'll discover along your journey with Mr. Bowie, his live performances are complete and true in their captivating quality, I have to recommend you, This Is Not America; live. Golden piece, happy ventures.

hey mr smitty,,,,,,believe me and all the loyal bowies,,,it was fae better first time i saw him sing this in london hammersmith odeon 72,in full ziggy,,,again 73,,,when he put ziggy down to lie for last time ,,,,,,,,no massive stage sets, etc,,,the only gimmick was David himself,,,one true genuine talent with his Spiders,,,,never will this epithany, persona or genius be ever experienced again mortally,,,,,thank god cos that would only be fake,,,even blasphemous

Album version or live versions, this song always makes me gasp for air at one point, and yes it’s the passion and the timing.
Rock and Roll Suicide is off course a Ziggy Stardust track which means the 1973 live version is kind of mandatory.

I grew up with David Bowie, bought ziggy stardust when I was 12 and never looked back, my brother in law worked as a rigger at his Edinburgh gigs when lets dance came out so we got in to concert free which was fantastic, my hubby and I went twice, he was fantastic. My BIL met him and said he was really nice guy
