    Beat game yesterday myself. Normally wouldnt recommend such a dialogue heavy game, but this game was really good and loved the boss fights.

    I really, *really* wish you didn't feel too pressured by your schedule into rushing just a tiny bit at "that one choice" moment, because your playthrough was a great watch and I really thought you'd get damn near everything right. I am glad, however, that you're able to look at that situation objectively and realizing why what happened happened, though.

    Having now finished Cohh's playthrough of Vampyr (my first time seeing the game to completion) and ABSOLUTELY LOVING VAMPYR's STORY and now being about 4 hours into Banishers myself... I REALLY HOPE Cohh goes back to Banishers.. I think he stopped right before things started picking up for me.. I usually HATE side quests, for example.. but having done two side quests now in Banishers, I love how they do it.. and it shows the growth in writing between Vampyr and now, even with Vampyr being so good.. the side quests feel like part of the main story, so far, and that is RARE for a game for me.. That, mixed with the combat in Banishers (which is Vampyr-esque but better), the interesting story.. the subtle connections to Vampyr when reading lore items.. the characters and dialogue (all of which have been phenomenal.. even the side characters are voice AMAZINGLY WELL)... ya.. I know Cohh's plate is FULL right now (March 6, 2024 lol) but I do hope he sees this and MAYBE one day returns to Banishers.. I think he'd find it well worth the return.

    Hi Cohh i was wondering if you still have in plans on playing some more Yakuza?. I actually liked the vids when you played Yakuza 0.

      Yakuza Kiwami is on the schedule to play (at some point). He's mentioned it several times on stream these past few days during the Jurassic Park play through.

    wait ,so they made the game where evil playthrough is easy,and good playthrough is hard mode? That's one way to push people away from comfort zone, i guess

      Well playing the good guy's easier for most people to stomach, so in a way it makes sense to make people have to choose between their conscience and making the game easier (it can get rough sometimes, so feeding can really help).
      Also the game has a way of tempting you by having a few characters who are just out and out assholes (although most are much more layered than that), and who make it very tempting to just get a bit of free experience since it doesn't seem so wrong to kill them. But some of the people who're bad also have a good side, and then there are the people who're pretty good but do/have done some bad things, etc... It's shades of grey and as a result the game makes it hard to justify feeding on some but not others, etc...

    Vampyr is actually fun and interesting compared to The Masquerade Bloodlines.

    Interesting, to me it feels like it's 50% combat, maybe cos i hate the combat so much in this game, especially the camera movement. Feels like a bad console port (ye the menus are horrible too), i play on pc. And its not a gitgud problem, i beat Nioh+dlcs on pc without thise problems:)
    Made me stop playing it few days ago. And it's bad cos i totaly love the setting/atmosphere/characters/dialogs/"detective part" :(

    *Spoilers* I feel like there was just something WRONG with it. The major story NPC's don't react to things in a way that makes a lot of sense, and not in a fun unpredictable story way. The main character is hard to feel a part of, because a bunch of his dialogue seems a bit strange as well, like everything is just disjointed and it needed a strong editor that wasn't high on weed. lol
    You meet all these people that seem interesting at first glance, but you never have any good reason to come back to them or care about them and they just become really generic, like I've literally forgotten almost everyone's name already. I think the "neighborhood health" mechanic was supposed to get you to care about and go back and work on the districts, but it just wasn't done well, and was more of a nuisance than something that pulls you in.
    I feel like someone put a lot of work into the lore, but it's not fleshed out properly and at the right times so that it can get to be compelling in any way. It's mostly a ton of mystery that never gets properly used during the game (because of the HUGE infodump that comes basically after the ending). How a game managed to be simultaneously so VAGUE and have such specific lore with Welsh roots was just plain weird.
    And the love interest? I mean, come on, that was incredibly flat.. They're both saying that ylove each other by the third time they even meet, and there was zero spark there, or anything to make it feel natural. The random old lady having a secret daughter that was the start of the plague was sort of out of nowhere, story-wise, and she made a terrible final "villain" (half-the-villain).
    I don't want to sound too harsh, like there were a lot of good ideas here, but the game just feels "wrong" and very unpolished for a full-price game. I definitely was interested enough to watch your entire playthrough, but I never would have made it through myself, particularly with the way the map was setup with one-sided unlockable doors, and having to backtrack through large areas and a very confusing map...
    tl;dr - something totally off about the whole thing, but not a bad effort, and some people may really like it.

      I know exactly what you mean re: the dialogue, it was especially noticeable when you explored the side options before choosing the yellow 'proceed dialogue' option. Jonathon discusses a subject once or twice even, then later discusses the same subject as if it was the first time it had been brought up in the conversation at all.
      It wasn't game breaking, but it was often enough to make me constantly compare it to The Witcher and how I found the dialogue there less repeating itself, and had the option to skip a single line not an entire sentence. ME probably had this too IIRC.
      I didn't watch Cohhs playthrough as I was playing it myself, but im guessing Sean Hampton was the locked 3rd option he had trouble with? That was my downfall too.

      COhh is notoriously easily impressed with story/dialogue. I mean he thought Detroit had a cool story, while that plays like it was written by a 5 year old with downs

      It’s because the studio is really small and their first fora into AAA games. Honestly the game is similar to KCD. Obviously KCD is a lot more ambitious and deep but both games show incredible potential for their studios.

    I was disappointed by the game. But I think thats because people were hyping it up to be something it wasnt.

    • @Lann91
      @Lann91 6 лет назад +1

      True, I expected some witcher like gameplay and quality, for that crazy hype, and for the 50 euro price. But its not on that level.

    • @naantjez
      @naantjez 6 лет назад +22

      If you expected Witcher-like gameplay you're just a dummy because there is no reason to believe this game has that. Not by the trailers, not by the info released by the devs.

    • @Trancer006
      @Trancer006 6 лет назад +1

      Lol thats what happens when you follow the hype train before games are even released. I'd totally forgot about this game and saw it on twitch on the release day, instantly bought it and Im loving the shit out of it. We havent had a unique story/dialogue driven vampire game like this since VTMBL. Today's gamers are bound to be disappointed by every game since they hype games way too much and expect everything to be witcher 3 or skyrim scale.

    • @Lann91
      @Lann91 6 лет назад

      Yeah, i should not expect quality games by just looking at the price nowadays, i guess.

    • @Trancer006
      @Trancer006 6 лет назад

      The game is actually not a short one, every dialogue, side quests and exploration take about 30 hours. So Id say the price is somewhat justified. My only issue with the game is movements and camera control cuz theyre clunky.

      vampire games are a lot about blending in though. So the question then becomes, do you want a bland vampire game, or an immersive one? I don't think you can make a good 10 45 45 vampire game.

    • @kevinbrown2438
      @kevinbrown2438 6 лет назад

      Sure you could. Imagine a vampire game with similar pacing / gameplay to the Hitman games, for example; still immersive & appropriate to the theme, but with much greater emphasis on exploration & combat.
      Not sure if that's what I'd personally want (I've always found it appropriate that the best vampire games are dialogue-focused, given that the source material is all prose), but I could easily see how you could create a more action-oriented vamp experience.

    • @sanoyphilippe
      @sanoyphilippe 5 лет назад

      @@kevinbrown2438 I could maybe put skyrim OR oblivion in that category if you play as a vampire.

    Realistic except for the exagerrated reaction to disease as humans panic throughout history whenever they get sick, then the modern politics which is a turn off to the game for any lover of history.
