You're not meant to land sideloaded like that, yes you get on the ground but it puts a lot of structural stress on the landing gears, the 747 landing you can see the perfect de-crabbing technique with the nose yawing in the last moment to align with runway centerline

Important thing to note from someone who's been a pilot for just a few years now with under 1000hrs. Crosswind landings are always different, wake turbulence is a serious concern, and you could drop out at any second.

Edit: the incident involving KLM was not soly the fault of KLM. It was a combination of KLM, the other airline and the ground control crew coordinating the movement of both planes. So my point is, there was never a big incident which was soly the fault KLM or an incident that happened in flight.
