Bauhaus rules !!! My favorite albums are In the Flatfield and Mask I put the sky's gone out at 3 and burning from the inside at 4 and go away white at 5
Really appreciate how respectfully you approach this "simple" song. That's huge to young players. Good work- seem like a cool dude.
'Wow" this is absolutely awesome !! Best lesson about this ever !! And you have "EXACTLY " The original Sound !!
Glad you liked it!
Can you do a tutorial on spellbound by siouxsie and the banshees
Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for the video. I saw The Hunger way back when and was really impressed by this song. So little guitar work needed, yet so powerful-sounding.
i learned to play it on 5-7-7, 4-6-6, 2-4-4 on the ADG strings with open strings and a few varations. For the other part I would do muted A, then 1-3-3, and 2-4-4 on the ADG. so fingers never change positions except from a to 1-3-3. Im sure there are names for these chords but I learned it by ear a while ago and dont know my chord names. Really easy to play this way but youre version sounds true to the original. Im gonna play it your way from now on!!!
Yes, I like this way as well. There are tabs online that are incorrect with 3-5-5! Thanks for commenting.
Thank you i been trying to learn this song the right way
Man, you play the hell out of that guitar/song ! It was really identical to the song, but you could hear the guitar so much clearer. I would really like to hear you play the song in its entirety. bis spater.
Thanks for such a helpful video!
Awesome! I love Bauhaus and this lesson really helped. Simple but tricky. So, is it possible to give requests on songs you can do lessons on? If yes, could you please cover "Hair of the dog" by Bauhaus?
Thank you Mike !
Thanks, very fun
Good job, thanks for posting this video. It helped
Thanks for the support.
@@rockingguitarlessons Your welcome!!!!!!
Very cool Mike! Only one thing though. The open E-F# hammer is actually open E-F.
At least that's what Daniel Ash did every time I saw Bauhaus live starting around 1980.
But otherwise great job. This song brings back tons of memories!!
I know this is a 2 year old comment but it's cool you used to see them as we could well have crossed paths if you were a regular. David and Kevin used to live near me in Northampton when I was growing up. I followed them everywhere I could. I still know David. I'm always looking for people who took photos at Bauhaus gigs. There were certain people I used to see often. They were great times. There were some great bands around that time to see live.
Lucky guy Paul - I followed them on the Northern circuit for what seemed years then actually moved to Northampton in 87 - so missed out on the local scene. I did see Danny, David & Kevin in that pub which used to be painted a hideous black & purple (now sadly being converted to flats) off the Barrack Rd near the church in about 88 - couldn't help but think how cool it would have been just a few short years earlier!
Great job. Thank you :)
All right! Thank you so much for doing this lesson, Mike! I really appreciate it. Me and a high school buddy used to air guitar to this song back in the day (this and Sisters Of Mercy's "When You Don't See Me" which I'd also love to see a lesson on...wink wink ; ). One quick question. Any advice on how they get the squeaky bat sounds that appear in some portions of this song? Maybe pick scrapes? Oh, and yeah that singer hanging upside down is crazy! Talk about getting into character!
are you smashmouth
Great tutorial!
Thanks man it really helped
Awesome.Im wanting to learn also how to play "SUBWAY TRAIN" by The New York Dolls too.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome video man. Cool to see you give the real Goth classics a bit of the spotlight. If you have some spare time, any chance you can do a video of The Chameleons - "Don't Fall"?
Mike! lets get into all the crazy delay tricks Daniel Ash does in this song!
fuckin A dude, nice work
my favorite gothic band, just learned how to play their ziggy stardust cover, now this, thanks man
+John Doe rock on
thanks dude!!!
could you do a tutorial on the solo in spiritual cramp by christian death? i can’t figure it out
thank you!!!
what effects are you using to emulate the song I've been using the space echo for Bauhaus and the chameleons curious to know what do you use?
sounds really good. Should be easier to say just moving the E-barre shape leaving the bottom two strings open.
Does anyone know how in the FXXX he's plays thru song were it sounds like wind is howling it's soooo cool thanks?
Danny used a wem copycat tape echo also peter would adjust the speed of the wem whilst danny played and also whilst kevin did the drums...The wind sound you refer to was created by the wem copycat...
thanks
What settings would you recommend, say, for a Spider II?
cheers dude!
can you please do rainmaker, no more lies and dream of mirrors by iron maiden?
Right i was a part time roadie with bauhaus back in 1980....Danny used a wem copycat for the echo sounds on "Bela" he would also run the edge of the pick across the bass string to create the effect of bats making noise....most of the sound of the effects was also created by peter also fiddling with the wem speed...Kevin also had hi drums linked to the copy cat looped so that the drum sounds would also be altered via the wem....
The best way to actually mimic the sounds of daniel ash is to know what he used on "Bela" if you want to reproduce those sounds then it is best to buy a wem copycat tape loop....I have an old one which is use now and again...But i first used an ibanez analog delay back in 1980....It was ok but did not really recreate the real sound that you looking for....The wem also makes a sounds when it moves across the heads which can not be reproduced by a digital effect pedal...You can buy plugins such as the roland space echo which are digital versions of the real analog machine but you can't still recreate the analog liveness of the tape loop....Danny used a HH Amplifier which had two speakers and the knobs lit up in the dark...I have the same amp which was given to me by a friend who i helped out...he got it in a house clearance...Great find these amps are now worth a lot of money because they are old....hope this all helps...I might myself do a youtube which will show you how to do daniel ashes effects...I learned a lot of them back in the 80's but now i do my own types of effects which i have developed myself over the years...
One other thing danny also tended to play the notes of the chords whilst strumming of the higher treble end which gave it more of a picking rhythm if you know what i mean...
Can u please do a fade away by breaking benjamin tutorial
time to practice those barre chords :)
what guitar are you using??
MY OLD 90S IBANEZ//AND YEP I MISS HER :(
@@rockingguitarlessons Thanks. Love your tutorial, it'll be helpful once I get a similar guitar as to the one your using as I'll be trying to learn the song while using the guitar.
